Well, well, well. It's about time I had a good Mormon thread to read, seeing as how I am one. Thank you Anarkistsdream for the support. By the way, where did your friends serve? I was in the good old Ohio Columbus Mission myself.
As to the fact that the Book of Mormon is false doctrine, lets see some proof. More specifically, lets see you lay down some proof besides the "don't add anything to the bible" quotes at the end of Revelation seeing as how that book is not the last book chronologically from what I know, so they apply only to the book of Revelation, not the bible as a whole.
Ah, but we do believe in Christ, and last time I checked, there ain't very many of us Mormons out there who go around bashing other folks churches. I'm sure there are a few here and there, but when was the last time you saw an anti-Baptist or anti-Methodist book published? Let me guess, never.
I'm not here to start arguments, but I'd be willing to entertain some intelligent religious banter if you will. Especially from those several posters on this thread who had something worthwhile to say.
Anyways, let 'er rip if you want.
Oh, and no, the polygamists in Utah and Texas are NOT members of the LDS Church.

At one point during the history of the LDS Church some, I repeat SOME, members had more than one wife. It was not however, a widespread practice among the members and the main purpose of it was to help to provide for the many, many women who had lost their husbands in the trek west to the Salt Lake Valley.
It is no longer in practice and anyone who is practicing polygamy (having more than one wife) is not a member of the LDS Church.
Hopefully that clears it up for you.

Two friends served in Brazil... Both came home with wives...
Another was in Michigan, though I don't remember the city.
One was actually in Salt Lake City... That cracked me up, but he explained that there is a huge somoan culture there... I had no idea!
Lastly, another good friend was in the Netherlands. He has since lost his faith in the church, but not in Christ... He's a good guy.
I grew up with a huge amount of LDS friends, and I still care about them all. They have never been demeaning or rude to me, nor have they ever condemned my illegal behaviors... heh.
If I were to ever join an organized faith, that would be the one.

I respectfully disagree.
please tell me that you aren't one of those who believes in the literal truth of the bible. the inclusion and exclusion of so many different books over the past 3 millenia has clearly grounded todays Bible in human hands. Books were excluded for various reasons such as standing up for womens rights at a time when the church beleived they should be subjegated to men or because they proposed a more humanist view that holy mother church could not allow and still keep her wealth. The Bible has been twisted to fit the needs of those in charge from ancient times all the way to todays president justifying a meaningless war. Don't believe me? Take a biblical history class and buy a copy of the Apocrypha.

Hahaha! I can't believe how many of those guys who serve in Brazil wind up finding their wives there. It always cracks me up. Yeah, I know a kid who served right here in Provo, UT. Talk about almost no non-LDS folks. However, that mission extends down into southern Utah and New Mexico too. The Samoan culture in Salt Lake is HUGE!
I am not Mormon, however I Was raised around mormons, In Idaho, where Mormon religion was the majority religion.
Many of my friends were mormons, and I did go to church with them.
I can tell you for sure, My LDS friends love Jesus... As far as a personal relationship with him, NO ONE can know that, because it is personal.
Mormons are not considered Christian amongst other Christians, because Christians believe that Christ died, so sinners may be redeemed of there sins, and can go to heaven..
Mormons do not believe that... They earn there way to heaven and according to there deeds, they go to a level in heaven.. the best is they become Gods themselves and populate there own planets.
Christian faith is based on believing in your salvation threw the death of Christ, if you don't believe this you are not a Christian. Even in other cultures they believe Jesus was on this earth, but he is only a prophet.
Mormons don't believe in the Trinity, and that Jesus is God in human form.

My views exactly^^
The point is a christian is one who believes in christ as a savior basically.
Whether you believe their religion is true or that they are true christians they are christians because they believe in christ.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, not God himself in human form. We also very much believe in the redemption of sins through the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made.
I'm not really offended at what you are saying, but man, it blows my mind how other folks leave out the details of our beliefs so that things come across as so "different" and "strange" to the rest of you.

We do not have to go to other people's doors to prove that our faith is the truth..

We believe that everyone on earth is a son or daughter of God. We believe that Jesus Christ is the first-born Son of God and that as such he has certain privileges such as atoning for the sins of all who have, are, or will live on the earth.
Was that a bit more clear? I realize the last comment was a little ambiguous.

If I ever knocked on your door when I was serving my mission and you told me you were not interested I simply said "Thank you for your time, have a wonderful day." I never once held it against you or tried to force it down your throats. As a matter of fact, the people that joined the LDS Church while I was teaching them did so on their own accord after they prayed and felt it was true. I never once tried to convince or pressure them into it.

Like I said before, everyone is a son of God in that we are all his children. Jesus Christ was the first and volunteered and was chosen to perform the wonderful act of suffering for the sins of the world so that we can all have the chance at salvation.

Then what is this thing about your "prophet" Joseph Smith?

Well, I apologize if you ran into a couple of LDS missionaries who were a little on the forceful or argumentative side. I can promise they are not instructed to act that way by any means.
Let's see, the Kingdoms of Heaven.
1. Celestial Kingdom: this is where God himself dwells with all those individuals who have achieved exaltation by living the gospel to its fullness (fullness of the gospel is a topic for another day though).
2. Terrestrial Kingdom: for those individuals who may have known the fullness of the gospel but perhaps did not live up to it all the way, or those who lived good, honest, well-meaning lives.
3. Telestial Kingdom: for those who did not live a righteous life.
One thing to understand is that even the lowest kingdom (Telestial) is incomprehensible in its glory to what we have on earth today. Yes, I know that will cause even more questions. It is kind of a difficult concept to explain all at once.
I've got to run to bed now, early work shift in the morning, but I'll check back tomorrow when I get the chance to answer more questions if there are some. If not, that's cool too.
