Re: Something's Coming. Only one more day. Exciting stuff th
A little more time for this one to get the entries to me.

For our third competition, you are going to look into the future.
...............................What Can You Say?
Last week, I asked you all to look in the foundry for maps that I had posted a description of. Some of you faired better than others. But every map needs this small description written. This is what was written for Rorke's Drift.
Now it is your turn to write one for us. Below is a list of maps at various stages of development. Click on any of the names to take you to the thread. There you will find the maps image. Write out a short description and send it to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) with the maps image using the form below.
Remember, the description must belong to the map and be recognisable.
District of Columbia by brhiba
Lisbon Metro 2030 by Armandolas
The Great War by Oneyed
Alamo by generalhead
Tank Battle by oneyed
Mystical Era by ManBungalow
Three kingdoms of China by Seamus76
Research & Conquer by isaiah40
Alaska by Seamus76
Tribal War Israel by Seamus76
Spanish Amarda by cairnswk
4 Star Meats by dana1971
Homeworlds by dolomite13
Medival England by The Bison King
Escape by koontz1973
Get the entries submitted to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) by 20th April for judging by the Mod-Team. For every entry that gets a majority of thumbs up, will receive a general achievement medal. One entry per player.
All entries will be judged by a crack squad of troops who recently broke out of a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by El_Jefe they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The Mod-Team.
Good luck and have fun.

Re: #GCCM. [Week 3] [Competition Post 2]

Welcome to week four of The Great Community Map Project. This week we will vote on the scope of the battles to come. This is the first major vote that comes with spoilers. So think carefully on the map you would like before voting.
[spoiler= voter topics]Map of a WORLD
If a world map is chosen, no map cannot be made of the earth in its current configuration. We already have maps like this. Alternative worlds are permissible.
Map of a CONTINENT
If a continent map is chosen, no earth continent in its current configuration. We already have maps like this. Alternative continents are permissible.
Map of a COUNTRY
If country is chosen, no country that has already got a map will be allowed.
Map of a BATTLE
Like country, no currently depicted battle will be allowed.[/spoiler]
So what do we have for you this week. Well, a brand new competition, more news on clan week to follow, and a live chat event that will blow your socks of.
Competition

Graphics Competition

Results of last weeks competition will be announced shortly.

Re: #GCCM [Week 4 - Scope] [Competition Post 2]
First in and all those malleable minds to alter ... mwahahaha.
I chose a battle. It's the only one that meshs CC with fantasy. It also gets away from strictures of land and geography and enters the true realm of the imagination. Nothing is sacred, no boundaries just a complete and total mindblowing opportunity to express! It also deals with the conceptual stuff that us smaller mappers prefer and gets around the dead wood that large maps often sneak in! Music, lights, action ...

Sort of in agreement here. I starting to think large, but now a more small scale battle would suffice.

Going for a World as there are many WW battles already, also there are many continent maps... Countries too...

Re: #GCCM [Week 4 - Scope] [Competition Post 2]

Welcome to the forth weekly competition held in the foundry in conjunction with The Great Community Map Project.
..........................................Mind Bender
A rather nasty little competition for you this week.
I went for a walk round the foundry forums, Drafting room, Main foundry , Beta maps and the Atlas.
On my travels, I stopped of at many interesting places. Can you guess where I went?
Look at the image below. In this image you will see strips of many maps. How many, I will not tell you. The strips have not been resized or altered in any way.

List all of the maps you can find. The player with the most maps found will be declared the winner. If multiple entries find all maps, multiple medals (Max of 5) will be awarded.
Get the entries to me ([player]koontz1973[/player]) by this time.
Good luck and happy hunting.

I voted for country. I'd rather not have an overly complicated map, which seems to be the way 'battle' maps go at the moment. A country gives more scope than a continent but a world is a bit too far. Honestly though, I'm not really bothered over the result of this poll.
Anyway, I best try this competition..

Yea I kinda agree with iAmCaffeine here
I don't really care which wins, battles seem to be overly complicated though so I'd rather not have battle win, but otherwise I really don't care! So I vote continent

koontz, can you add the Voter Topics spoiler to the first post?
Re: #GCCM [Week 4 - Scope] [Competition Post 2]
I voted continent just because there are too many maps with seas.

It is going to be a fantasy continent map, cannot be a real world thing because of first poll result!

Re: #GCCM [Week 4 - Scope] [Competition Post 2]
Actually, worlds, continents or countries aren't any different from each other if it's a fantasy map, isn't it? This wasn't what I was expecting for maps under the Fantasy category, but thought it included stuff like 8 Thoughts, Patch Wars, Madness, and many other creative ideas like those. I'm disappointed to find that none of the options in the poll allow for such things...
