lol. well 1st of all- learn to spell.
Do you need an excuse to have a war? I mean, who for? Can't you just say "You got lots of cash and land, but I've got a big sword, so divy up right now, chop chop."

1) spell the name right
2) add names to the territories
3) add more territories
4) think of the shape of your map, long and thin isnt the most popular
5) reassess your bonuses, they make no sence in the context of the size and location of the continents
6) what is the point in those mountain pictures? if you want impassable boarders then make lots of little mountains go across the area
7) what is the point in those little islands? are they actually to with California?
8) the title of your legend is points vaules, they arent points, they are armies.

You really have to differentiate this map from the other space map and definitely change the background to something real good and if you can make a legend that would be real good.

ericwdhs wrote:This came off the top of my head so if one planet I haven't listed clearly fits into one of these groups (I want at least 3 or 4 for each one) or you have some other suggestion, please speak up.

Resource Bonuses:
2 Planets of One Category: +1
3: +3
4: +6
5: +10
6: +15

Troops (yellow): Kamino, Geonosis, Kashyyyk, Mandalore ...
Fleets (orange): Corellia, Kuat, Fondor ...
Superweapons (red): Endor, The Maw, Byss ...
Force-sensitives (violet): Coruscant, Yavin IV, Ossus, Dantooine, Korriban, Alpheridies (all very valuable)
Political (blue): Coruscant, Alderaan, Denon ...
Commerce (green): Muunilinst, Neimoidia, Eriadu, Yag'Dhul, Brentaal IV, Corellia (these are mostly on Hyperlane intersections and will be very hard to keep but they are very valuable)

I'm also considering adding Sanctuary Planets that automatically give +1 bonuses (denoted by a plus sign):
Yavin IV, Hoth, Naboo, Mustafar, Polis Massa, Dagobah, Bespin, Tatooine, Manaan, Mon Calamari, Rakata Prime... (There needs to be quite a few of these in comparison to the above bonuses so the chances of getting an amount even to your opponents are greater.)

One question: Can anyone tell me where Alpheridies is? I know it's in the Expansion Region but that's it...

I might not be understanding it completely right, but if you are meaning a +15 army bonus for holding six planets, then that is a little off-kilter. You shouldn't be able to get that big of a bonus for holding only 6 territories. Like I said though, I might have been misunderstanding this part.

It's also hard to give you some accurate feedback on gameplay without having a base to go on. Once you get a map up with the legend and a rough draft on things like bonuses, boundaries and whatnot it is easier for the rest of us to visualize how the game will actually flow using the map.

Just a suggestion.

wow. I'm glad I never saw the first one.

Seriously, have you ever thought of not using ms paint?

once upon a time people actually read what others posted.

the map shown is ONLY to give an outline of layout/territories. I wanted to get the consept and layout correct BEFORE i spend a long time on aestetics.

I would really appreciate constructive feedback/criticisms, not rude and arrogent responses :)

no offense, but there are numerous 'map makers' who throw up some quick version of what they plan to do, and it never really develops from there because they lack the skills to take it further, graphically. until you can show us what you are capable of you will get comments on the poor graphics.

I think this type of map is one that could benefit greatly from a symmetrical (spelling?) approach. Keep the lines of the field matching those of an actual soccer field. Simply and straight would make it look much more sharp if you ask me.

i can understand that, but ime not going to spend a long time on a map which then has unworkable boarders or territories, all i want is some feedback on things of that degree and then i will produce a much more detailed version.

Well, if you guys can live with the green planet holder draft for now, I'll add a legend, finalize the planet and text positions (not images), add the map border, and add the colored bonus glow all on Thursday.

Hehe... that was the result of experimenting with some XML. I intend to cut that down some, but it will still be relatively high considering that each planet in those categories has an average of 4 or 5 territories it has to defend against. Keep in mind that only a couple of the bonus categories reach a total of 6 planets and that they aren't concentrated in any specific area.

How does this look?
2: +1
3: +2
4: +3
5: +5
6: +7

As for visualizing these bonuses on the map itself, that draft will be the only thing available until Thursday.

Those numbers make a little bit more sense to me now. Perhaps a little tweaking either direction once things move along a bit further, but it makes more sense. Thanks.

why do you get mor armies for holding yellow than you do for holding blue? blue is a lot harder to defend than yellow.

also you need a lot more territories.

put some effoert into the image.

try to find some real maps of california and maybe look at it on google earth.

you might want to try makeing bonus based on how hard the territory is to hold rather than how big it is. And did you just make these lines out of the blue? where are the names. seriosly just a little bit of effort wouldnt hurt

What? That was not an attempt at humor. I was just pointing out a common spelling mistake. I hate it when the English language is brutalized... Sadly though, no one minds it... :(

Anyway, MS Paint should either be removed from Windows or revamped...
