HEY!
I'm new here and I'm playing four games and NEVER miss a turn! I spend more time watching my games than playing them since from what I've seen rank makes no difference when it comes to missing turns, it appears to me that people of every rank do so. Its incredibly frustrating when you have an awesome tactic in mind and your stuck waiting for the person above you to actually DO something. My point is that its a matter of ther being lazy PEOPLE, not lazy NEWBIES!

dont confuse noobs with newbies, sometimes they are the same, but a noob can be just a person who doesn't know shit about CC or how its played.
and i agree newbies miss the most turns but they are even high ranked layers who miss turn because of vacations or even strategies. at least with a newbie you know wants coming, but when ranked players miss turns that not cool.

noobs
Noobs should only be allowed to play with people who've played 691 games and are still lieutenants, oh wait that's you.

i play because i like the games. like i have stated a million times, i could give a flying f*ck about rank. you win some you lose some. that's just the way it is. if i was worried about rank, i'd play 4 at a time and stick to the newbies. and for sure wouldn't play with idiots like alex. but i've already remedied that possibility.
it's not that newbies should not be allowed to play. no where did i say that. what i've said is that CC should do something for the regular games that they have done for doubles/triples. let them play against each other until a certain amount of games/points. then you will know that plan on sticking around and won't just join 4 games and quit. when you're playing a sequential game and you have to wait 24 hours for a newbie to miss their turn, it gets old fast.
now alex, what bit of wisdom do you have to share with us now? seems you're just so full of yourself, there has to be something......

Well let me just say jeff that your idea is the quickest road to CC destruction.
Let me explain, for CC to continue to grow it needs new blood. If you only allow new players to play other new players then you are giving them a false idea of what the site is like. If you only get 5% of the new starters to stay on the site, what percentage would you get if they were forced to play in games where the majority were deadbeating, they would soon get fed up and leave also thereby reducing the growth that is needed. I agree that no one likes deadbeats but it is something that we all have to put up with if we want the site to grow.

how am i an idiot? coz you got stroppy about deadbeats? and when you say you win some you lose some.... you win?
i dont think so, i think for you its ''you win 1 you lose 58'' and so on. and clearly not that many have been deadbeating in your games..........deadbeats cant beat you which apparently everyone else does so there must be at least one person who plays each of your games.
and if your that annoyed by deadbeats pm your friends to play you, however judging by your feedback im guessing youll have to wait untill the 1vs1 game option comes out. nevermind in the meantime you can use the callout forum and put passwords. that way deadbeats wont join.
anyways mr stroppy things to do people to see........

He's got a point.
About passwords and either using your friends or callouts. Just something to think about.

Hi, my first post so thought I should make it a long one!
The Newbies Point of View
I am a true newbie, I am currently about 2 rounds into my first four games. My first opinion of CC it that is a great idea and something I will not only carry on with but probably join as a PM.
My first experiences suggest that the OP’s original idea is ill-conceived. Firstly, out of the four games I am playing the new players (including myself) seem to be the first ones to react when their turn comes. I am really keen to play and want to play more turns not miss them! I would suggest that for every ‘deadbeat’ new player, there is someone like me that really wants to play. By tarring us all with the same brush you risk alienating the type of new player you should be encouraging.
The second point it that out of the games that I am playing the only players that have missed turns are ‘ranked’ players. One of these has even missed both there turns right from the start of the game??
Thirdly not all new players to the site are new to the game, I joined because I was sent a link by a friend whom I have played all the versions of Risk with for many years. I would like to think I have a good grasp of both the rules and the tactics. Although so far I cant master the bloody dice! (twice I have lost attacks with 9-3 odds!
)
Your suggestion that new players should only be able to play with other new player would, IMHO, create a horrible first experience for players such as myself. The phrases ‘the blind leading the blind’ springs to mind.

podge wrote:The problem is that when new players come to the site they register an account set up 4 games and expect to play them fairly quickly. I would imagine the vast majority When they see that nothing is happening in their games get fed up and just don't return. However there are some players that join that take the time to read the rules and accept that this is the way the game goes, These players will stay and become part of the greater CC community. This is the only way the site will grow. It is a price we all have to pay if the site is to continue to evolve and improve, small growth is better than no growth at all.
here here. leave the noobs alone. yes you get some that you know are going to dead beat straight away, but if you don`t want that don`t start games in public or join games last, knowing that there are no noobs.
on another point why is it in every thread that black bear posts, cosmin posts straight after him.

To any new players reading this thread (which seem to be a few), in case you haven't heard yet: don't play freestyle with high-ranked players. They're not deadbeating, you'll see...
And to the person who started this thread, one piece of advice, if your so sick of "noobs" deadbeating: don't play with new recruits.
I've yet to be in a game where a "?" deadbeats, I have however played several games with higher-ranked players who have missed multiple turns. Perhaps my experience isn't typical?

I'm with Moosegun. I just joined and am eager to play but have a couple of games where ranks are deadbeating turns --- and not in freestyle so I have to wait days for my turn. I'd love to drop out of these games where, after 2 days, I haven't even made a move -- and move on to a game where people are playing.

As much as I might like a create game option to prevent newbies from joining, I think podge is absolutely correct. Once rank was systematically established as a threshold to join games, this site would enter decline.
My guess is greater than 95% of people play less than 10 games before leaving forever. If it were a pain in the ass to even find those 10 games that percentage would grow to virtually 100%.

maybe this would make the point clearer.
you have options for the type of game you want to set up. map, format, number of players, etc etc
so, why not have a limit on people of a certain rank? you can click what you are willing to play with. and leave the others out. this isn't rocket science. it's a game. and the object of a game site where you're paying to play is to enjoy it and have fun. i don't have fun playing deadbeat newbies. (or the mentally challenged like my buddy alex)
but hell, seems like i stirred the hornets nest good this time.

yes im mentally challenged, whereas it seems you jeff are CC challenged... what with your incredible score which you have gained so rapidly.... and your fantastic feedback proves how much of a delight you are to play with! wow CC could definately do with more players like you
i like guys like you. you let people like me go higher up the scoreboard with your point donations.
and seriously if you dont want newbies joining your game (and most probably beating you) use the callouts forum. tahitiwini has alos set up a series of games open to lieutenants (as well as majors and captains but your not ever likely to need to worry about that) which you could join and there you will be garunteed a minimum rank and only a tiny possibility of someone deadbeating. (unfortunately as soon as you join tahitwini's ignore list youll no longer be able to play, which im guessing shouldnt take you too long......)
anyways hope i was of help jeff. and congratulations on your massive average of nearly half a point per game! keep that up and maybe one day you might reach captain...

alex is just one lost individual. what part of i don't care about rank don't you understand? i play for the fun of it and enjoy the games. not having deadbeats ruin it. now crawl back under your rock alex. you're more of a pain in the ass then the deadbeat newbies are. if you want to make this into a flame war,i'll start one up in the flame war area and we can go at it. should be easy knocking you down, as your shoe size is definitely higher than your iq.

I've seen this noob "Alexwhite" around the forum, and i have to say that he strikes me as a twit with a prissy attitude. How does one (with any kind of life, that is) get so carried away with rank? Do you think that anyone off this site will ever give a flying f*ck what your score is? If you want prestige, play chess. There are those of us who could give a shit - we play the game to have fun.
