Re: Friendship Festival Special Edition [TPA2]FULL
Hi Duk ... so replacements start at zero or they carry the score from those they are replacing?
Re: Friendship Festival Special Edition [TPA2]FULL
My apologies. I intended to get the next round out last weekend, but I just had too many other things to do. Now I'm leaving for a week, so the next round won't be out until Sep. 25th at least.
Very sorry, and it will definitely be one of my highest priorities when I return.

Yes, they inherit the score of the team they replace.

Okay, I've updated the spreadsheets to reflect all of the Preliminary Round games.
(Made a major mistake in the calculations. I'll have to re-do this when I get home. For now, still stuck in Chicago.)

Re: Friendship Festival Special Edition [TPA2]
The scores that I originally posted here were calculated wrong, because I'm not that good with spreadsheets and I propagated the wrong formula. Anyway, I've re-done the spreadsheet and re-calculated the scores, so this time they should be right.

It was hard to be sure from the spreadsheet, but glad we're leading
Any GA medal for winning the prelims?

Yeah, it would have been a nice idea. Too bad I didn't think of it sooner; certainly can't add it now.
Especially since from here on in it's an elimination bracket, and the fact that you won the prelims gives you no advantage. Would have been nice to give you something for it.
If I did this over again, I would promote only the top 14 teams, not 16, and I would give by's to the top two teams in the first round of elimination. Well, live and learn. Great tournament design is an evolving art.

Re: Friendship Festival Special Edition [TPA2]
The Challonge website where I have posted the bracket for you seems to be under some kind of reconstruction, so I can't post the updated bracket. Here, however, are the highlights:
The Cultural Influences round was characterized by massive blowouts. There were literally no close matches at all.
The closest was the match where Theldin and Bosche dominated Enormastitz and Tin Trumpet by a score of 10-5.
I GOT SERVED and Ishihara crushed Slickstick and Nibotha by a score of 12-3.
ElricTheGreat and Uckuki massacred Israel and What,me worry? by an even more lopsided score of 13-2.
But most daunting of all, Merch313 and Swifte butchered Arno30 and Mad777 with a vicious 14-1 slashing.
Congrats to all the winners. Next round we will see if Team 1 can continue their murderous rampage as they face (appopriately enough) Team 2. Meanwhile, Team 19 will try their luck against Team 7. Next round coming soon.

Friendship Festival Special Edition [Win: Merch313+Swifte]
Wow, my fourth major tournament to end in the last two days!
The team of Merch313 and Swifte has just chewed up this tournament! They were the first to sign up, gaining the designation Team 1 right from the opening bell. (Back on July 3rd.) In the preliminary round, they eased off just a tiny bit, still coming in a very confident 5th in a field of 24. (Remember?) Wasting no time, in the very first round of the bracket portion they were thrown against Team 5 (Leehar and Dowian) and came up with a very close 8-7 victory.
In the second round of the bracket portion, the Cultural Influences round, they absolutely buried Team 6 (Arno and Mad) with a 14-1 landslide. In the next round, they faced Team 2 (I Got Served and Ishihara) and definitely served it to them 9-6. Finally, they came up against Team 19 (Theldin and Bosche). Team 19 had up to that point roared through the bracket, scoring decisive wins of their own 11-4, 10-5, and 12-3. Against the Team 1 juggernaut, however, Team 19's juju left them. Today, Team 1 raises the flag of victory on the field, having scored a decisive 18-5 in the Finals.
Congratulations Merch313 and Swifte, champions of the Friendship Festival Special (TPA2) Edition!
[spoiler=completed bracket]
[/spoiler]
In addition to winning the tournament, Swifte wins the GA medal for best individual performance on the American side, having won 37 of his 51 games (72.55%).
On the Canadian side, the GA medal goes to Leehar of Team 5, who won 21 of his 30 games, or an even 70%. Amazingly enough, this is the second time TODAY that Leehar has earned a GA medal in one of my tournaments, having won the GA in my First Anniversary tournament only about four hours ago!
