Admired like celebrity. I won't flame your royalty, but you have to admit they are now nothing but figureheads with no real power. People flock to see them and where they live because of their celebrity.

True enough...

Backglass was responding to your insult. He didn't start it.

Which one was that?

Hmmm, lets see. I've spent U.S. CASH in Japan, Austrailia, Hong Kong (albeit before China took it back), Singapore, Thailand, Phillipines, Panama, Barbados, Italy, and Egypt. Just off the top of my head.

Panama is geographically very close, and probably get loads of US tourists, so understandable. Japan, Australia and Italy? I find that plausable. Developed countries accepting foriegn currency...Definately got to be only in large retail sections near the airports or something....When I went to Australia and Venice (which is pretty much solely a tourist city) they only accepted Euros and Aussie Dollars....

So U.S. universities cost more and yet more & more people choose to go to them.
You get what you pay for I guess.

People go to the better ones because you are close to guaranteed to get a very good paying job when you finish. I just find the amounts you have to pay to be ridiculous though. People are complaining about £3k a year here, I would hate it if my parents had to pay around your level.

You do get what you pay for I guess, and for education its worth it...

"Technically" if you wanted them back, you would be out of luck.

I know that. I never said differently.

Of course. Friendly fire has occurred in every military since time began, but thats not what you are saying. You are saying they "love it", which I am sure they do not.

USA has a higher rate of friendly fire then they should, especially considering the accuracy and technology in the missiles and bombs nowadays...

Also, I didn say they loved friendly fire, I said they were trigger happy. Big difference.

But to send him into Iraq, where he will be target #1 and needlessly put others at increased risk is foolish in my opinion.

The troops in Iraq are in support of him to fight atm. Also, to track him down will be very hard, and I cannot see any of the miliant groups delibately attacking him. If he does get involved in a fight, it will just be a routine attack imo.

Put others at risk, probably. The south is fairly safe atm though. The Iraqi troops and army now control all but 1 of the territories we were in charge of. The main goal in the south now is to stop Iranian interference and the supplied in IED's and other devices.

George W. Bush gets many invites and grand welcomes. He must be admired the world over!

Very funny...Thats because hes the US President, slightly different. Also, when he visits its different, its about politics. When the Queen visits its noramlly a visit/holiday kinda thing. Also, does he get a grand welcome? Isn it just a limo drive up to the front steps of wherever and a hand shake?

You mean like all Americans are fat idiots?

And when did I say that? Btw, America has the highest percentage of fat people, so in essence that stereotype comes from fact.

Sooo...the larger the population the better the schools? Great ! I'm sending my kids to Beijing University!

Nooooo. When you compare two very similar countries, if one has a substancially larger population you can expect it to better in most areas. Obviously you cant compare China, because there not as developed as us. On that note, did you see that Maths test entry to get into a Chinese university. Pretty tough. They got the right thing in making maths compulsary till 18....

Oh shit, I just saw that the UK has "the highest percentage of mobile phones per person in the world." Damn, looks like us Americans got our asses kicked. Even though the US is bigger, more powerful, with a better army, the financial capital of the world, and the banking capital of the world, the UK has a higher cell phone per person ratio!

That was just an example of one thing...talk about taking it out of proportion... I never said the UK was better or that America got its arse kicked or is piss-poor (its got a higher GDP per person ffs). Btw, banking capital of the world? You do know that the City of London actually has more American banks then NYC?

I dont really want to post much this weekend, so just to leave it at this, from me anyway. I dont hate the USA or w/e, I just really really hate American politics, the governments attitude and the foreign policy. You have loads of great things - NYC, Florida, California, technology, very strong army, strongest economy, make very good tv programmes, Hollywood, WWE, parts of your culture, Subway, Google, and loads of other stuff which I'm too lazy to type.

As I said earlier, I just think that as the worlds sole superpower you should be teaching everyone how to behave and be setting an example (Not many superpowers in the past really have behaved well tbh). Obviously it is up to your government to do this, but they are just too ignorant. It is from this that I get my "anti-american" attitude. I tend to see the bad parts of America before the good parts because of this, so it comes accross that I am fully anti-american. I agree the UK isn perfect, far from it, but I am proud that our government is not like yours in many ways. Also, I love Prime Ministers Questions and the Commons. Thats real debating . :P

As a conclusion, I am not anti-american, I am not extremely nationalist UK, I like America, naturally I prefer where I grew up as its "home", and I still like all of you, except that racist guy. O, and I'm terrible at debating on here without Guis  I felt lonely for the past day, probably because re-reading what I said, it was very nationalist and kinda bigoting... I fell like I was about to get the support of xtratabasco

See you soon, I gotta work and sleep, or my teacher will rape me on Tuesday.

NYC is not the banking capital of the world. Charlotte, NC, is the banking capital of the world.

I'm not sure either is the banking capital of the world. I suspect the true capital is somewhere in Switzerland like Zurich.

Americans

Post by Gary30060 »

In some ways you are correct.....Americans have a really bad world image......however......If the Americans had not been so strong in WWI and WWII.....your Island would be run by the Germans.......or Japanese.

If the world wants the Americans to leave them alone......then....stay in your own country.....treat people like you would want to be treated.......do not invade your neighbors........don't fly planes into our skyscrapers.....and we will be happy to mind our own bussiness.

Have a nice day

I simply love how everybody yells at everybody else and rarely recalls their own countries crimes. Sure, anybody can say American's suck balls, but what about the other 245 sovereign states in the world? Just because America is bad, doesn't mean all the other entities of the world aren't.

Oh flying spaghetti monster. You're not seriously arguing which country is better.

Fact is that both countries have cunts in charge of the Ministry of fuckups and dragging up examples aren't going to help either case, since the fact of the matter is that absolutely every country in the flip[ping world is run by retards with an agenda, served by more retards, who represent the country. And then the non retards come to argue about it on an internet flame forum.

There's something wrong with the world.

Also at Gary: Writing an entire post in bold is just stupid.

I'm afraid the difference is that America is the current global hegemon and sole superpower...

We can recall Britain's crimes, and sure we had some with such a big Empire, but that was in the past. It shouldn't be repeated.

Most of the other 245 sovereign states have no chance of fucking the world over to the same massive degree that America can, and neither do they have the chance to make it a better place (like America could). That's the tragedy.

I am quite curious as to who that is referring to.

Guiscard, I agree with you. America does happen to be the worlds most powerful Country. Unfortunately, for everyone The1exile hit it dead on.
Cuz, we have Bush, and everybody now hates him, and we wish he would die. But, short of an assassination, that isn't going to happen. So all we can do is wait until Bush leaves, and hope our next %($&) president is intelligent.

I'd hope the next one's stupid if I were you...

If you seriously think that the current foreign policy is 100% Bush's idea then you've got to be pretty ignorant. Iraq would have been a very clever move if it had been pulled off. The Bush administration has played a pretty risky gamble, and ultimately not quite pulled it off, but it was a very good (if entirely immoral) move foreign policy wise. Maybe if you vote in someone stupid enough to think they can actually be moral then there might be a chance.

People who dismiss America's foreign policy as 'stupid' annoy me nearly as much as people who think it was for moral reasons... Any study of international relations and foreign policy will show you that everything is a carefully calculated move, with all the consequences weighed up... Unfortunately in this case the calculations were a little off...

Yer...a little....

I think it was more ignorace then mis-calculation. They refused to listen to any of the experts but their own and the ones they wanted to. They way over-estimated the Iraqi reaction to the invasion and the power vacuum they created by overthrowing the Ba'ath party and the army and the police among other things.

Oh yeh definitely... I'm talking more on an international scale. The major moves are all very calculated, its just the situations on the ground where there are so many variables and factors which couldn't have been foreseen (or the experts who do see them are ignored) which makes the gamble not pay off.
