Sure you join to win but with certain stipulations. One of which that ya know ya not gonna lose 45+ points. Anyway, not trying to cause a problem. Just wanted to bring the topic up.

I agree with scott. The tourneys great, but some games (our no-cards one) would be much fairer and faster if they were term instead of standard

This tournament has been awesome so far but I wish we could just eliminate the no card and flat rate games to speed things up and even out the playing field.

there are already more esc games than flat rate and no cards.

I know which is why I asked for the flat and no card games to be eliminated completely.

Why.
Do you want them all to be games of chance ???

Esc games are not chance... And its unreasonable to want 1 setting because it your favourite one strata. I like esc too, but no-cards and flat-rate against good opponents are just as good

edit: geez, you're right about the point drops scott. I was looking to join a game in gamefinder, and i noticed that in an "elite singles qualifier", 4 out of the 5 that had joined so-far were captains. How can all of you drop ranks?

luck plays a much bigger roll in esc than in flat or no cards.

I hope to god you're kidding podge cos otherwise I am getting really worried about the quality of players...

PM: The fact that we are playing quality players makes the drop in flat and no cards so important it really makes it more of a game of luck then anything else. We all know what needs to be done and so whoever has position is going to get it done barring horrendous rolls. If you want any evidence of this check out the flat card game I finished in Europe for the tourney. In a 3 man game both my opponents dropped in with full continents. I was left to just fight for second place from the first round which is plain stupid imo.

I disagree strata - there is luck involved in both, in no cards and flat rate the luck is at the start, in the drop, and in escalating the luck is at the end of the game, when card cashes and dice rolls become important.

A bad drop shouldn't stop you from winning a no card or flat rate game though, I've won quite a few where my drop was terrible, but it allowed me to sit back and swoop whilst other players fought against each other. It just requires different skills and tactics to escalating. If you think you have lost in the first round you need to reconsider how you approach these types of games.

I don't think it achieves anything to devalue any card options - we each have our own preferences and card types we are more skilled at. They require different skills and I think it's appropriate that different skills are tested in this tournament.

No cards and flat rate games are one strategy, esc is another. We need all of the settings in the touney.

Exactly... Strata was trying to say that no-cards and flat rate were all luck..
