Back on topic... I think the blurring has worked well in some places, but not in others.

thats because i needed to blur the background around it too, because he has a 1px border

I'm not sure I understand. If there's a 1px border I don't see why the background would need blurring.

because if i would only blur the line you would not see a line anymore, it would be nearly vaneshed

How did you blur it? I tend to use Gaussian Blur with a value of 0.1 or 0.2 if needed. Perhaps it would work better with a drop shadow. You could try it with a distance of 0, size of 1-3 and a spread of up to 15.

i tried everything but it doesn't work with a 1 px border
i did blur it with the blur tool and put it on "use all layers"
every other thing i tried failed

The problem is more with the thickness. There are several layers of border so in some places (the north bank of the river for example) it is a pretty solid 3 px wide and inothers it looks more like 1 px, especially on vertical sections (next to the Biesboch army circle for example).

What it really needs is for someone to just get rid of the borders (which leaves white ones from the layers underneath) and then go over the whole map with a simple 2px round black brush, then add a little bit of graussian blur to taste.

I just don't really have the time to go over the whole map at the moment.

It is more thickness than blur to be honest. It just needs to be consistent, which is what the map is lacking currently.

if its a 1px border you can add a 1px stroke to the outside or center, then merge that layer onto a blank new layer which will flatten the stroke, then you can blur it.

but really, i think this is all a bit ridiculous as i see nothing wrong with the current borders.

No-one else's borders matter really. I've been having a play around and I'm having a lot of trouble. The emboss effect you have on the land makes some of the borders too thick, and the river border and texture seems to be a single layer.

you can make the land mass seperate and oeverlapping so the emboss wont create dark spaces which make the borders look thick

Or you could. Its your map. I said I'd take a look, and I've given you my advice... I didn't say I'd finish it for you.

who is forcing you to continue the map if you dont want to do it, this is not your site and the person that owns the site has asked certain other people to ensure that the maps on the website are top notch, nobody is forcing you to change stuff that belongs to you. If you like the map as it is print it off and play it with your mates. If you want it on the site then abide by the procedurs

qwert please dont take this personally but i really think you should not get involved unless you have something constructive to say. We know that neither of you like the system but if you feel that strongly about it then stop making maps because it just causes arguments. Otherwise please just take some advice. I dont see much wrong with the borders but if there was a poll i would vote for them to be changed 'to make your best better' for want of a less cheesy motto
