Meh- three of my favourites in the OP? It's tough to consider something overrated if that's the standard

The Godfather trilogy would be up there for me. Great movies, but not the best.

Also, the Shawshank Redemption.

Space odyssey 2001, way overrated. Or maybe I was too high when I watched it (or not high enough).

The Godfather, The Godfather II and Shawshank Redemption are favorites of mine. I guess we're even.

You don't exist anymore as far as I am concerned.
These 3 movies are GREAT and certainly not overrated.
I bet if you ask someone in the street "What do you think of Requiem for a Dream" they'll answer "what's that?" or "Yeah Mozart, he was great".

But to answer your question:

The Tree of Life

Most boring movie I've ever seen.
All this rethorical BS with stars and dinosaurs....
I don't know why I watched till the end.

This. But no one really holds the latter two in high regard so they don't really count as over-rated.

I was very unimpressed with Raging Bull, Seven Samurai and the Graduate. I was entertained by the Graduate, but it's hardly one of the greatest films ever. I feel like it didn't declare if it wanted to be a comedy or a drama.

Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly. I'm not saying they are bad movies, all I'm saying is that they are grossly overrated, since a lot of people keep saying they are super awesome and I don't find them that awesome at all.

Wouldn't "it sucks but a lot of people hold it in high regard" be considered over-rated?

I don't want to say the three I mentioned sucked, I just don't want to say they're among the best ever...anyway...

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey - good Lord, what a boring movie
2. Clerks - that was just awful
3. Dune - highly disappointed, as I loved the books

Back in the day, twist at the end was hot shit on a sizzling pan. People were still getting used to not running away from moive theaters whenever a train left station.

I didn't think Children of Men was highly rated in the first place (in fact, I would put it on my underrated list).

Here are mine:
(1) Shawshank Redemption
(2) Forrest Gump (what a piece of crap; I really detest that movie).
(3) That movie with Boobs McGee and Bill Murray... I got through 10 minutes and turned it off.

Thin Red Line.

After seeing that movie, my brother said to me- "That wasn't a movie, that was a poetry reading". Heh heh.
