CC atheists & liberals

Post by beezer »

Is it worth discussing any topic with these kinds of people or are they just insulting anyone who disagrees with them, while simultaneously thinking they're the smartest people ever to exist?

I wasn't aware that this phenomenon was isolated to just atheists and liberals. In my experience it's pretty standard across the board.

Let me guess, you're stuck @ LaGuardia again, and in a bad mood

Personally, I find it more rewarding to speak to them in person, after having developed a friendship over time. Here on CC, I don't find it productive.

you've been around longer than i have... and you are still surprised enough by their behavior that you felt the need to start a thread about it? this is nothing new.

Not surprised, but just hoping that discussions here would be as good as when I've talked to other people with whom I disagree. I guess it really is revealing how this place has degraded.

it hasn't really "degraded"; back in the day you would have backglass blathering on about his "sky daddy" and dancing mustard seeking people's attention with poor trolling and like 5 other europeans who didn't think americans could hold a candle to their "genius"

but i may be conflating this forum with flame wars... perhaps the OT forum itself was better back in the day, but the forum as a whole was worse

Uhhh that never happened.
I was the one who got angry about the Holocaust jokes because my family was killed by the Nazis. I was raised by my grandparents, one from the reservation where she was harassed by the KKK, and one from Norway where his family was murdered in cold blood.

So thanks for that nice attack there too. Really felt great and exposed me as a total asshole Atheist Liberal.

And then you moved here from Germany. Is it your families destiny to have it's members die as citizens of every tyrannical rogue government?

i'll let everyone else judge this for themselves.

That's actually taken out of context.
It's pretty clear to see that when you read "tyrannical rouge government" and see that there is no point of reference in that quotation that you cherry picked.

Not all atheists are liberals, beezer. I know that this place seems like a haven for liberals but that's only because they post the most while those of us on the conservative side are busy working and producing. I respect your belief system (religion) even though I don't accept it. My parents are Christians, as well as my wife. I've seen two other atheists on here who are pretty conservative. If you don't like this place, just remember that it's only a group of people (godless heathen) yelling the loudest to make up for their small numbers. S.E. Cupp is another example of atheists who have rejected liberalism.

the guy who makes a graphic of my quotes with big red circles around certain words is accusing me of "cherry-picking quotes". that's rich.

why don't you provide the context then?

or are you sticking with your story of "my family was murdered in the holocaust, therefore i would never make such a joke"? is this like a new version of "i have black friends, therefore i can't be racist against blacks"?

pshaw. ridiculous.

There clearly are just 2 groups everytime, US (the good guys) and THEM (the bad guys). What's this plurality and different types of people nonsense?

Clearly THEM (aka anyone not in whatever group I indentify with) are smelly and irrational and ruining this forum and ruining the nation.

heh. At least beezer is only accusing THEM of ruining CC, DangerBoy is of the oppinion that THEM are actively oppressing him and destroying the United States by expressing their vote.

Anyway, first & last post in here. I suggest you get out as well Juan, let'em have their little circlejerk while they do the exact thing they're accusing "the dastardly atheist liberals" of doing.

Yeah, if only more of us argued like NightStrike, Dangerboy and PhatScotty this place would be a bastion of respectful discourse.

let's argue! I don't think I really deserve that stereotype though. I just get a hard time for the way I come across, and I said I would try to do better. I am doing better, friend! And I barely ever even see Dangerboy post?

oh and inb4 lock. inb4 rds says "play nice" or some lame quip only because he knows he gets the last word before he locks it.

inb4 he references my previous sentence and says something like "you think my quips are lame? =("

inb4 he doesn't know what to say because I'm covering all my bases.

inb4 another mod locks the thread instead of rds

I voted no, but I know the answer is yes. It's just too difficult to argue against somebody that users facts/logic instead of superstition/opinion.

I'll debate a conservative intellectual all day long, but if you get your talking points from Faux News then you deserve every insult that comes your way.

How does anyone respond to someone ignorant enough to equate atheism and liberalism?By saying all theists are conservative, which is palpably false?Or should we try to raise the level discourse a tad, however frustrating the responses??? :-s
