motivation appears to be off in the small version...

make sure you always state which version (large/small) when making comments on the xml...

there are a few that look one off in the small version...
-calm
-statute
-passion

though if i stare at it they all look a little off.

i think the issue we might be dealing with is an undivisable # of pixels in the army circles of the small map, making perfect centering not possible.

Yeah, hector, I really don't mind it at all, and maybe I'm just being blind :P

It just seems more like, umm, I dunno, almost more like clipart and the others look more like they were drawn by hand.

Actually all of them, except for the skull, were all done in photoshop with black paint and layer styles.

Whenever the latest XML glitches are hammered out, lets see the large and small images with XML on them, along with links to both maps and the XML.

(For those who are wondering, a minor explanation of my absence HERE)

It is, it was my attempt to make them all 'off' the exact same way.

EDIT: I'll work on it later tonight or tomorrow sometime if I have the time.

EDIT2: Okay, the other problem I'm having is that not all the small circles are the same size, so I really can't make them all 'wrong' the same way. I'm trying to find a way to deal with that, but it isn't easy.

EDIT3: What I'm thinking about doing is making 4 additional versions of the xml with a slight nudge in all of them 1 pixel from where they currently are in each direction and then trying to pick the ones that look the best out of the bunch.

Oh, sorry widowmakers, I don't mean to say you're a bad artist. I think you're terrific. I think it's just the thinness that does it, not poor drawing or anything. It just looks out of place because the rest of them are more full.

No, not just you, it is off in comparison with the others.

SkyCaptain wrote:I think that the sword doesn't really seem to fit with the other symbols. Maybe it's just because it's thinner, but it just doesn't seem to be the same style.
I agree: The sword needs to be more 'broadsword hack slash' than 'thin and rapier like'. More brute force than subtlety.

I don't understand the current problem with the sword that is suddenly popping up. The sword has been the way it is for a long time. I like the sword the way it is. The sword being the way it is isn't a flaw, it doesn't negatively effect the map in any way. :x

And no, this isn't just because I or WidowMakers don't want to go through the trouble to change it. We both like the current sword as far as I know. I definitely do. Really I think changing the sword at this point would be about as horrible as putting those children from King of the Mountains somewhere in there to chase butterflies around.

Then don't change it!
It is just a comment on something that has just been noticed. If you think it is fine then leave it!

Lol, it doesn't affect gameplay at all and still looks good, so I really don't care what you do, i was just pointing it out. If you guys want to keep it, that's great as well.

i think that rather than trying to make all of the xml look wrong in the same way...shouldnt all the army circles just be the same size and a size that can hold the unit evenly?

Well there are sertain numbers that will always be wrong anyway. Some have an odd width and others have an even width. :( I am working on it as we speak though.

The image is way to large to show in the forums, but there are 5 versions of the map. 2 is the current one. I can't look at it objectively for some reason. So if you would like to help let me know if you think the centering for a place in 1, 3, 4, or 5 is better then 2 then say something like. 3 Calm is best.

Right now I think that 2 is as good as it can get.

2 is definetly the best option out of those...

but there is no reason that comfort and soothe can be centered but calm cant...if calm cant be centered because its army circle is a different size, then its army circle needs to be changed to the same size as comfort/soothe...

unless im missing something obvious here...

2, for pretty much everything. Oh, and about the sword... I can see why you might think it's too long and thin compared to the other pictures, but the only place it really looks a little strange is on the mini-layout of alliances, and you can't do much there. Plus, I like that sword, goshdangit.

I think I'll give the map one more day and then we'll see about finishing it up completely. I remember at the beginning of this idea, it took a lot to sell it to me. But the near finished product now has really grown on me, like most maps, and it looks spectacular. Great Job! :)
