potential characters [incomplete list]:
ordinary players:
rebels as mafia
townspeople as neutral townspeople (win if rebels and empire are eliminated)
stormtroopers as townspeople (win if empire wins)

elite players:
luke as mafia doctor (can save one mafia member per night, and prevents them from being lynched the following day)
obi-wan as empire-killer
vader as police
emperor as empire doctor (saves townspeople)
boba fett as mafia killer (1 kill per night)
mod as jabba the hut (information broker, one side's elite players can sacrifice a normal player to neutrality for information on a player's role)

other info:
do the elite players know who is on their side? if so, the game might fall apart, if not, it will need some major changes...
I think some of these roles should be eliminated/limited but im not sure which.
this will have to be quite a large game to work, but might be a lot of fun!

i signed up for that one, but star wars is complex and popular enough that i feel as though this one can still go on. also, i think it will take long enough to get this one off the assembly line that there shouldnt be too much of a problem

True, but by posting this idea list in a public forum, you're giving potential players a huge amount of information. I suggest maybe just posting a theme idea and seeing who would be willing to work on the setup with you via PM.

i like things more transparent. people can know most of the roles and their purposes, but they cannot know the win conditions or who is what (obviously). it makes for a different game. more interesting, sometimes

Honestly, I'm really not a fan of inserting the mod as a gameplay element, even if you announce it beforehand. Give that role to a third party survivor type player or something.
