wow
the shitty graphics on that map are nothing compared to the awful counterintuitive design.
i honestly have no idea what connects to what.
thank god for BoB otherwise that map would be unplayable.

I did mention at the time that those lines should be scrapped, but no one listened to me...

Focus guys. Bashing someone else's map isn't productive.

I don't like the black dots around the land. Where it meets territory labels it clutters them and where it doesn't it don't add anything.
Have you tried with a different sea colour? Keep the texture because it looks good but make the paper pale blue instead. The sea monsters would look more at home for sure :).

You do have some time actually, I didn't see the 16th as the last update... XD I kept stumbling on the older posts saying that the last update was in January for some odd reason...

Instead of Eric the Dark, could it be nobu the dark? Money for the change and more when it goes into play and accepted.

I have been asking Tisha for a year to make a Pirate map with my name as a pirate... :(

I like this. good work so far man.

V9:
all sorts of minor nitpicks and changes ranging from the title to font changes to flourishes and borders. i honestly don't remember everything i did cause it was done over a long period bit by bit.

Generally so, but I do have a question, it's more of a personal preference... The lines of longitude and latitude. That curvature of the lines on a map would only really be true near the poles, not that far north. They should have a slight curve, of course, the Earth being round and all, but in theory should be horizontal and vertical across the map.

the latitude and longitude are in the border and they're horizontal and vertical. they're not on the board because i don't quite like how that looks with a perfect grid.

the ones that are on the map are there just for the flow of the map, not for geographical purposes. if they're really bothering people i can remove them.

I kinda figured, and like I said, its a personal thing for me from a geographic stand point. And we all know this isn't going to be used for navigation... so as long as everyone else doesn't mind, I'm ok with it.

woowww haven't notice this one before!! It's looking great! I'll have to dissect it properly :)

P.S. - meant to do a Caribbean pirates style map for quite some time. Based on that really old Sid Meier's game for the Commodore 64

Ok... This one is definitely on the top scale of sexiness!

So, you can't win it by dominance just by objectives right? The XML seems tasty as well :)

thanks. it was my entry for the PNG competition that got refurbished into this :)

the only way to win is to complete your mission. fog on this map will make for a very interesting game.

I have no concerns with this. Go ahead and get the small done, and please update the OP with CB tests, and both versions with 888's on them ;)

I Love it!! =D> =D> =D>

Not really sure if missions are totally balanced, especially because Pirates and Merchants have different characteristics. On the first glance I'd say Merchants have an advantage due to the Governor feature thought they're limited to Ports for reaching coast while Pirates can reach any coastal region... I guess we'll only know that for sure testing it on Beta phase.

there are so many attacking options and starting strategies that it's impossible to mentally figure out how balanced the map is.
only like play can do this and unfortunately unless we get a proper testing facility beta is the only option we have right now.
i'm not too fond of releasing a map that i have no idea how will play but i guess this is all i can do.

yeahh, it would be great if the map maker could test the map before releasing it. Probably a pre-beta phase limited to few members (the cartographers and a a few more) where you could test the map in different modes (and no points lost) ;)
