Sports Jerseys

Post by luns101 »

Just starting to make some decent $$ again, so I decided to get a customized jersey from the 1970s from one of my favorite players on the Cubs back then - Dave Kingman. The guy would either strike out or hit a monster home run, and he would seem to be one of the most non-athletic people you would see in professional sports - but we loved watching him anyway.

So, I started browsing around NCAA.com shop, NHL.com shop, NBA.com shop, and NFL.com shop to see what was available. Got to wondering what the best way to shop for future jerseys would be and figured there's got to be people here who would know. I watched the NFL's video on selecting the right jersey, and it seems the "authentic" is the best way to go, but you pay through the nose for those.

Anyone have advice on the best jerseys for the money? Also, does anyone have an absolutely awesome collection?

And yes, Brits - soccer (football) jerseys are awesome even if I hate the sport personally.

I prefer the middle grade jerseys best. The lowest, usually called replica are made of decent fabric, but everything is screen printed on. with replica, most of the lettering, logo, and numbers are stitched on, although not made out of the high quality shit authentics are made with.

Sucks that even the shittiest quality jerseys are usually around 80 bucks. And I have a difficulty buying jerseys of guys I know aren't gonna last a long time (for example, the ridiculous amount of people who bought redskins Haynesworth jerseys). Thus my jersey collection is made up mostly of thrift store jerseys which are cheap, and "ironic" i guess, but i'd rather wear a plain beat up old jersey than spend an arm and a leg on one.

I've never owned a jersey other than the jersey of my university team, which is in first division of the mexican soccer league, and i didn't like them, i bought it because it was a special for students, you bought the jersey and got tickets for the season lol, games were friday night so it was perfect to start drinking.

Anyway I wanted to say that they are ridiculy expensive. Just too much, and don't look that great if you don't dress like americans do. There's the option of wearing a italian soccer jersey but then you have to have one of those bodies.

I've been close to buying 3 versions of the Real Madrid one, but I was looking for customized ones and they are quite expensive.

Most Americans are probably pretty familiar with the websites luns mentioned in his opening post, but are there some commonly shopped websites for the jerseys you're talking about?

I got a Niklas Kronwall jersey for Christmas. Spent a lot of time shopping around, and we ended up going with a local store. Much cheaper than NHL.com, and we got lucky that the particular location we went to was brand new, and running a store-wide 20% off sale, so that made it cheaper yet. I got one level below authentic, which meant I still paid around $120.
