[SCBD] Reset Scoreboard

Post by Falkomagno »

RESET THE SCOREBOARD

Concise description:
  • I propose to reset the scoreboard. There is an evident inflation in the points shown in the scoreboards, giving to the fact of the calculation of points given per game. Resetting all players to 1000 points will be a fresh start and it will be encouraging to climb in the scoreboard, especially for newer members

Specifics/Details:
  • Reset all players score to 1000
  • ????
  • Profit

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Encouraging climbing the scoreboard
  • Challenge old veterans to get again to the top
  • Fresh new start for everyone
  • Equalizer of players
  • Eliminates cumulative inflation of points, at once

Hi Falko!

I dont think people who worked hard to get to their high score will agree with you.

But i think it might be a nice idea to have an extra scoreboard for every year or maybe 2 seasons per year.
The player with the most points at the end of this season could get a special medal as well.

I understand your point. Indeed, is predictable that a lot of people would get frustrated when all the effort put in achieving certain rank is vanished out of the blue. And your idea of different scoreboards, or a different list for a weekly , monthly , and yearly scoreboard would fulfill my original idea about challenge people to climb the scoreboard without getting instantaneously demotivated by the current points of the highest in the list.

Still, I think if a reset is applied it can be seen not only as a bad thing, but again, as a fresh start point.

I understand that if is ever considered this idea, it should be widely announced before, to avoid all the anger and frustration that can generate a sudden lost of points, specially for people really into the score ladder

lol, I like it. They'll never do this, but I like it. Just the reactions it will unleash would be wonderful to see.

I agree with the idea of running a parallel "current" scoreboard. That would reset itself to 1000 every couple of months.. I think that would be brilliant..

Obviously to not confuse people the points gained in matches for that would have to be hidden unless the user requests them made visible...

Good suggestion - but we all know any decent suggestion takes in excess of 2 - 5 years to be implemented..

A parallel monthly or quarterly scoreboard sounds cool. I don't like the idea of resetting the main scoreboard.

It be in favor of that idea just to see how quickly people could get to the top. although the manipulators could find former cooks and bank cash on them but overall, I'd like to see the equalizer and how experienced players accumulate thier points now that they already know what to do. I could see speed freestlyer being conqs in just a short periods time.

i think a yearly scoreboard (or 6 months, quarterly, whatever. monthly i think is a little to often but whatever) with a medal for highest in that "season" would be great addition.

reset of the main scoreboard...well, i dunno. i have mixed emotions, and i haven't even worked that hard for my current low points. I can imagine those serious point takers would react if im even undecided etc.

man.. what an awesome idea... true, the fact that many "work" extremely hard in some cases for their points is an issue... it is a fact that this is a GAME, and it would be nice to see it treated as such once in a while... that said, the parallel scoreboard (yearly would be best in my opinion, but whatever) is a fantastic runner-up idea...

I don't think I would be that upset to see my points revert back to 1000 (though my rank is fairly low atm) as long as everyone else had the same rank... lol

Wouldn't be a terrible idea. I agree with JBlombier they'll never change it. But would be interesting to see what would happen with everybody. I think though a lot of people wouldn't like that, some may quit even. Put all that work and dedication into getting to the top of the leader board. Freemiums especially at the top would suffer a lot from doing that. They wouldn't be very happy with that

A parallel scoreboard would be great! And they can make awards such as "Player of the Year 2012."

+1 An Annual (yearly) Score Board is an excellent idea, with the possibility of three new medals each year Gold, Silver & Bronze. A history of the Top 100 to go with it would also be a nice feature, which would also be an archive of CC Years past.

No reset, just an Overall and Annual Scoreboard. =D>
