Short cuts: PARTICIPATING TEAMS | SCHEDULE - MAPS & SETTINGS - GAME ROSTERS | RESULTS & STANDINGS
----
General description: This tournament is about teams playing a competition or a league. The participating teams play the other teams once (round robin format) in, what I call a match. A match consists of 9 games, 2 singles games, 4 doubles games, 2 triples games and 1 quads game. For this edition we will accept 16 teams, so there will be 15 rounds. Teams score points with every game won, the team with the most points wins the match between the two teams. It is also possible to tie, in which case there is no winner of the match. For the standings the team winning a match receives a score of 3, the losing team will receive a score of 0. If a match is tied, both teams receive a score of 1. The team with the highest score at the end wins the tournament. In case of a tie, the team with the most matches won wins. If that still results in a tie the team with the most total points scored win. We will play a round every two weeks.
This is not a clan tournament. In fact I encourage you all to form teams that do not consist of only members of the same clan.
To get an idea of how it all works, you can have a look at the thread of the previous edition: TLO 2010 III
----
Games, Settings & Maps, Points System and Extra Games
[spoiler=GAMES and POINTS]1.- Games:
Each round consists of 2 singles games (1v1), 4 doubles games, 2 triples games and 1 quads game. For every match won the team gets points. All games are one single game, i.e., best of one.
----
2.- Settings & Maps:
All games will be sequential, chained forts. Other settings will vary.
We’ll use a wide variety of maps.
Note: For games with fog of war the 12 hour courtesy rule will be in effect. I know from personal experience that it's not always practical (or possible) to wait 12 hours, so I'll "give or take" a few hours. Just don't make a habit of it! Please post in the chat if you cannot wait any longer and when you have taken the snapshot. [EDIT] See also below, under "Fog of War Courtesy Rule".
----
3.- Points System:
The points will be rewarded as follows, with a total of 20 points per round:
- Singles matches: 1 point
- Doubles matches: 2 points
- Triples matches: 3 points
- Quads match: 4 points
----
4.- Extra Games:
Apart from the above mentioned games there will be 16 Assassin and Terminator games throughout the tournament. They will be 4 and 8 player games with varying settings. Every time they are set up, I will ask every team to assign one player to join a game. The teams of the players that win one of those games will receive 1 point. This will have no effect on the team score, points only come into play at the end of the tournament if there would be a tie in score and wins.
Note: The extra games will count towards the General Achievement Medals for the individual players.[/spoiler]
Teams, Signing up a Team & Team Changes
[spoiler=TEAMS and PLAYERS]1.- Teams:
The teams consist of a minimum of 4, and a maximum of 6 players. All players need to be officers at sign up (i.e. have a score of at least 1600 points = rank of Lieutenant) and premium members. If a team cannot assign at least 2 officers for any round, that team will not be allowed to play that round. We urge you to sign up with 6 players, because this tournament will take a while to complete and we all know ranks can go up and down easily. You have the option to add or replace players during the tournament (see point 3.-).
Notes:
- It is discouraged to enter non-Officer members in games, that’s why a team can have 6 members.
- Please try to always have Officers play the singles games.
- If a team member gets very low in rank, I may ask the Team Captain not to use or replace the player.
----
2.- Signing up a Team:
To sign up as a team, you need to provide me with a team name, team Captain and the other team members. Please include the current score (or rank) of all the team members. Please use this format:
Code: Select all
Team Name:
Player A: [Player]name[/Player] - rank (Team Captain)
Player B: [Player]name[/Player] - rank
Player C: [Player]name[/Player] - rank
Player D: [Player]name[/Player] - rank
Player E: [Player]name[/Player] - rank
Player F: [Player]name[/Player] - rank
3.- Team Changes:
The Team Captain needs to advise me of any changes in the team and wait for my authorization. You cannot let a player sign up for games if he or she is not registered with your team. Changes can only take place in between rounds, and will come into effect the next round.
Notes:
- Any player added to a team must be an Officer.
- There is no limit to the amount of changes, however, if I suspect abuse I will not authorize changes.
- I reserve the right to authorize any change(s) that help keeping the tournament going smoothly.
Standard Player Assignments & Changing the Line-up
[spoiler=ASSIGNING PLAYERS to games]1.- Standard Player Assignments:
Before the first round, the team Captain will have to decide which players will play which games. You can use 4, 5 or 6 players. The same player cannot play more than 1 singles match, 2 doubles matches, 2 triples matches and the quads match. The teams for the two triples matches cannot be the same, there has to be at least one different player in the two games.
The line-up sent in before the first round will be the standard line-up for the whole tournament. Any team can use a different line-up for any round (see below).
To assign players the team Captains has to send me a pm as shown in this example:
(S = singles, D = doubles, T = triples, Q = quad)
Code: Select all
Team Name
S1: Player
S2: Player
D1: Player/Player
D2: Player/Player
D3: Player/Player
D4: Player/Player
T1: Player/Player/Player
T2: Player/Player/Player
Q1: Player/Player/Player/PlayerPlease keep the format the same and only replace “Team Name” with the team name and “Player” with the names of the players.
----
2.- Changing the Line-up:
Rounds will start every other Sunday (every fortnight). The schedule will be posted in the second post. If a team wants to use a different line-up for a specific round, the Team Captain will need to send me a PM with the player assignments at least one week in advance. If I do not receive assignments for any round by the Sunday before the round starts I will use the standard assignments. I will not send out PMs asking for player assignments, it will be the responsibility of the Team Captains to get them to me on time. After the Sunday there will be no changes allowed, although in certain cases I may make an exception.
Do not post the assignments in this forum, sent them by PM using the format above, to [player]Lindax[/player].[/spoiler]
Joining Games, Rectifying Mistakes, Posting Results
[spoiler=JOINING GAMES and RESULTS]1.- Joining Games
Once the games for a round are made I send a pm with the game numbers and auto-join links. If a game is not joined by all players within 48 hours, I reserve the right to cancel the game and count it as a lost game for the player(s) that did not join it. I may or may not send an invite as a reminder sometime after 24 hours. It is the responsibility of the players and the Team Captain to get the games filled on time.
----
2.- Rectifying Mistakes and Forfeits
Every game needs to be joined by the player(s) assigned to the game by the Team Captain. If a game is mistakenly joined by another player, please let me know and I will decide to allow it or make a new game. If a player is replaced by the Team Captain without letting me know, and joins a game, that game will be forfeited and the win and the points go to the opponent(s). The same will apply if a player who is added to a team without my knowledge and permission, and joins a game.
----
3.- Posting Results
As soon as a game match (or round) is won, the winner(s) should post the result in this forum. It is going to be hard for me to keep on top of all the games, so please help me out and let me know the results![/spoiler]
Team Captain Responsibilities
[spoiler=TEAM CAPTAIN RESPONSIBILITIES]The team Captains have the following responsibilities:
- Sign up your team with a team name and the players and, of course, name the Captain.
- Make sure your team members are all officers at the time of signing up.
- Make sure you have enough officers on your team to be able to keep participating.
- Register any team changes with the organizers.
- Assign players for the games for every round you don’t want to use the standard line-up.
- Ensure that your team joins their games within the time limit and with the correct team mate(s).
- Ensure that the organizer is notified of the results of the games a.s.a.p.
- In general ensure that there will be as little delay as possible during this tournament.
Tournament Achievement Medal Rule
[spoiler=tournament achievement medals for large-team tournaments]To be eligible for a Tournament Achievement Medal a member of the winning team must:
- Have played at least one-third (33%) of the tournament games he/she could have played.
- Have participated in at least half (50%) of all rounds or phases of the tournament.
- Have won 1 game in the tournament.
For this tournament that means that you must play at least 30 games (average: 2 per round) and a minimum of 8 rounds.[/spoiler]
[Edited April 23 - Suggestion added] Fog of War Courtesy Rule
[spoiler=fog of war]For games with fog of war the 12 hour courtesy rule will be in effect. I know from personal experience that it's not always practical (or possible) to wait 12 hours, so I'll "give or take" a few hours. Just don't make a habit of it! Please post in the chat if you cannot wait any longer and when you have taken the snapshot.
Suggestion from [player]agentcom[/player] (which I endorse):
If someone accidentally (or otherwise) breaks the fog rule, they can simply post the results of any successful attack on that first turn, either on their own or upon request. For example, "I attacked Jakarta from Bangkok." This gives all of the information that a person would have got from a snapshot prior to the attack and no more.[/spoiler]
Account Sitting Rule
[spoiler=account sitting]Account sitting is allowed, as long as:
- It is done according to CC rules and guidelines
- It's done for team members only (if the sitter is participating in the tournament)
- It is announced in the chat for every turn taken
- It is announced in this thread if it is more than one turn (holiday, longer absence, etc.)
Note: If a player is going on holiday for example, he/she should notify the Team Captain and that player should not be assigned games for that period. In other words, account sitting is to be avoided when reasonably possible.[/spoiler]
Additional Notes
[spoiler=NOTES]
- I reserve the right to deny entry or disqualify any team and/or player that does not comply with the rules stated.
- I will ask the Team Captain to replace players who demonstrates unsportsmanlike conduct.
- I will disqualify a team that repeatedly delays the continuation of the tournament.
- I reserve the right to take whatever measure(s) necessary to ensure that the tournament will be played in a fair, fun and timely manner.
- Please let me know if you have any questions.
