RULES...
This is a 1 vs. 1 singles format tournament that will follow the 2012 Major League Soccer season. Reserved for Premium Players only.

The MLS will expand to 19 teams this season (see team list at bottom).
The regular season will follow the true MLS schedule with games going out to teams on the same day as their real-life counterparts (or as close as possible). The league plays a 34-game regular season schedule. Teams earn three points in the standings for each win and one point for each tie. The season begins in mid-March and continues through the playoffs in November.

• GAME-PLAY BREAKDOWN…
Each MLS match will be a combination of five maps.

• The Midfield will be two (2) games on the same pre-set map — a map that was selected to replicate the city of each franchise.
• The Forward and Defense will be played on a map & settings of the coaches choice (sequential, auto-deploy, 20-round limit – required)
• The Goalie map rotates throughout the season based on the season schedule (see box)


• SCORING…
Each position will get rated on their performance from 0 to 5
Win in 5 rounds or fewer…5
Win in 6-7 rounds…4
Win in 8-10 rounds…3
Win in 11-14 rounds…2
Win in 15+ rounds…1
Lose the game…0

Goalies get a +1 boost on the backline for a win and a -1 deficit for a loss.

Example match…Kansas City @ FC Dallas
Kansas City attack FC Dallas attack
KC +3 with its Forward DAL (-1) with its forward
KC +2 in midfield (+4 KC/+2 DAL) No midfield advantage
Total attack = +5 Total attack = -1

Kansas City wins the goalie map (goalie shown in net) for +1 added to defense
Dallas loses the goalie map (empty goal shown) for -1 to defense

KC attack +5 vs. DAL goalie -1 = +6
DAL attack -1 vs. KC goalie +1 = -2

Kansas City wins match 2-0 (one goal for every three ranking points…see graphic



• PLAYOFFS…
The top five teams in each conference reach the playoffs.
The #5 qualifier travels to the #4 qualifier in a one-match knockout phase.
The Conference semifinals and Conference finals will be played in two-match aggregate format with the higher-seeded team hosting the second match.
The MLS Cup championship is a single match played at the site of the higher seeded team (team with the most regular-season points).

Champion is the player who wins the MLS Cup (championship game)
I will also be requesting General Achievement medals for the "top scoring" player (goals/assists) combined points, and for the "top goalie" -- lowest goals allowed.

Stats for the GA medals will be cut off at the end of the regular season.

You have the preset map for the MF (2 games) that is listed with each franchise
You also select one (1) map/settings that will be played in the Forward spot AND in the Defender spot.

So when you sign up, you should be listing one map/settings.

Seems to be some confusion on the maps...

When you sign up it should look like this...(you can always check the Portland Timbers, too see an example, too)

Chicago Fire -- MF map -- Chicago, escalating, chained, foggy
F&D map -- Great Lakes, no spoils, adjacent, sunny

The red part is the part you need to add when signing up...the top line (black text) is the preset map for each franchise.

Hope that makes sense.

It's really no different from any typical tournament.
Pick a team and your home field settings (20-round limit, sequential, auto-deploy...required)
Just realize that when you pick a franchise, you are also picking that team's preset map for your 2 midfield games.
