Re: Rated M [6/12] Night 3: Death of a Doctor

Post by DoomYoshi »

A tree sat and looked at his watch. He looked around and felt miserable. However, he knew what he must do. He needed to avenge the death of the doctor. He tossed the watch to the elf, his only sure friend. He knew the elves from times past and that they would not harm him. He went off on his mission.

Before he got very far, he heard the watch beeping. He quickly turned around and stood face to face with the cyclops.

Iron Butterfly, Eruanlaiin Aeradhrinlal, Town Thornscap Apprentice (JOAT) lay dead.

This was to be it. The final battle. Cabro the Treefolk face to face with Gurth the Cyclops.

Gurth had the element of surprise. He quickly tripped the tree. He didn't realize how sturdy trees actually were. Cabro gave a hard shove in retaliation causing Gurth to step on and completely squish the elf's body. Neither took the time to observe the damage as they embraced each other in a hold. Eventually the cyclops was pinned to the wall. He somehow escaped and made a quick run for it but Cabro flung himself at the giant and sent him crashing through a door. Cabro's rage was infinite and he jumped on the cyclops and punched and punched and punched. Nobody was sleeping at this point. However, they were all still too afraid to leave their rooms.

Eventually Cabro stopped. Where once had been a hideous head with a single eye now there lay only a splatter of grease.

BGthe Brain, Gurth the Cyclops (Mafia Goon) has been killed.

The night was not done for Cabro. He knew who was left and he went right to the Paladin's room. As he booted the door off the hinges, he was slightly surprised to find the Paladin in full
armor, sword drawn.

"I am not planning to fight you" he calmly stated. "I am just going to show you the light".
Cabro was stunned and stood there for a moment.
"Do you remember when you first came here, how everyone ganged up on you? Do you remember how little they cared? Now they pretend they are your friends, but they don't really respect you, do they? I, however have tremendous respect for you and I have realized that you are the best of us all, you are the true leader of this group."
"How do I know you are not lying?"
With that question, Karo-Tai shoved a sword through his own stomach.
As blood gurgled out of the mouth he barely whispered: "you are the only hope now, kill them all".
MoB Deadly, Karo-Tai, the Western 'Paladin' (Mafia Godfather) has committed suicide.

The rooms were now eerily quiet. The only sound now was a slight murmuring - a chant. In one room, a large book was open, a incantation being repeated from it's pages. This continued until morning. In the morning, a stranger burst into the room. "I don't know how, but somehow those bullets didn't kill me he exclaimed.
Name has been revived.

The group looked around and realized that those who were responsible for the death of Giorgina were all dead. As they started to congratulate each other and get ready to alert their captors, someone started speaking:

"The hardest concept for a human to understand is the concept of infinity. The second hardest concept is the number 0. It represents absolutely nothing. What does 0 look like? You are all about to find out." With that....

reality ended.

These are the role PMs. Victor has some other assorted information saved on his computer, which hopefully he can post here. MoB had a secret ability to sacrifice any member of the mafia for a recruit and edoc became a reviver, able to revive one person for every 3 deaths.

Victor Sullivan wrote:
You are Aglaope, Town Siren. You sit on a rock and sing beautiful songs. When sailors hear your voice, they lust incessantly until they get you. Except they don't get you - they get smashed on the rocks. You rather liked your life, but now you are stuck here, so you figure you better make the most of it.

You are an activatable lightning rod. This means you can decide to start singing on a particular night. If you sing ALL actions are redirected so they hit you instead of their intended target. You win when all threats to town are eliminated.

You are Eruanlaiion Aeradhrinlal, Town Thornscape Apprentice. Fitting in with the Thornscape Clan can be difficult at best. Power is respected, and most elves want to become Battlemages. You were different and realized that perhaps you should foster other skills. Officially, you studied medicine, but you spent most of your times spying on others and manipulating people. Now you are ready to take on any challenge.

You are an Elf Jack-of-all-Trades. You have 3 actions, no more than 1 of which can be used in each day/night cycle. Each one has only 1 usage. If the use fails, you get to try again another day/night. You have 1 investigation (reveals whether a player is town or not), 1 protection (doctor ability) and 1 day of doublevote. If you want to doublevote, send a pm and then you have doublevoting capability for the whole day. The doublevotes will be secret, and you can have them be the same or different as your regular vote. You win when all threats to town are eliminated.

You are Karo-Tai, the Western 'Paladin'. You hail from the Kirge Swamps of the Western-most peninsulas of your world. As a young lad, you joined the Cholost Order of Paladins, to save the world. However, you very quickly became corrupt.

Unfortunately, corrupt members can not wear the official armour of the Cholostians due to it's enchantment.
As you were banished from your order, you took to banditry in the countryside, but the order chased you completely out of the west into the mountains where you met:

Gurth, Bloodrock Cyclops. Gurth led a very typical life for a Cyclops. His father killed the mother shortly after birth, as she became unattractive to him. Then his father was killed while raiding a human village in the valley. Gurth spends his time patrolling the Bloodrock Mountains, particularly the CazaPeak. Here is where you saw the Western Paladin. At first the meeting between you two was violent, but Cyclops' respect power, which Karo-Tai had plenty of.

Meanwhile, watching the battle was Kari Darkblend, Dragon Farmer. Kari had come from his home in Shiv, bringing with him the knowledge of agriculture. Unfortunately for the dwellers of the Bloodrock, Shivan fruit requires highly acidic soil to grow. Kari plotted to trap the group of two, when all of a sudden, the three of you were teleported to the Palais.

You three are the mafia. Each player is responsible for sending in their own action. The goon has the kill. If he is killed, it goes to the godfather, and then finally to the jailkeeper (it can still target a different player). You win when you are a majority of the townspeople.

Player: MoB Deadly
Character: Karo-Tai
Ability: Godfather

Player: safariguy5
Character: Kari Darkblend
Ability: Jailkeeper

Player: deuceswild222
Character: Gurth
Ability: None (Goon)

"As flies to wanton boys, are we to the Gods. They kill us for their sport."
-William Shakespeare, King Lear

You are the Wrath of God. You are nameless. You are awesome incarnate. You are an abomination sent by UrGott to destroy the planet, but first you must infiltrate the counteroffense being prepared by Giorgina. However, it will take a few days for your power to grow. You can only hope that nothing suspicious happens while you are with the group.

You win if you are alive at start of day 4. On this day, you will superexplode and destroy the entire Physical/Material Realm and everything and everybody will die. You have a fakeclaim of Cordorknock Biltin, the Kithkin Tinkerer.

You remember a great deal. You remember, sitting, as a seed, and sprouting. You remember, moving, as a sapling, and exploring. You remember, watching, as a juvenile, and thinking. Thinking that the fire destroying your forest had better have a purpose... a reason. You remember, as a Treefolk, all the folk who have come before, all the fires they have seen. All the ice that they have seen. Never have you seen a fire to clear the land. Until now. All you can do is walk. Leave. But walk you will. Leave you will. And also destroy.

You are Cabro, Town Unblockable Vigilante. Each night you may choose 1 player to kill. That player will die. You win when all threats to town are defeated.

Reginald Tiebaker, Town Scribe

You started your life rather normally for the son of a scribe. As a child, you worked at school, and learned to follow in your father's footsteps. Eventually you began working for the church, got married, had children. A completely normal life. Then, one day, that all changed. In the back, darkest corner of the library you worked at was a tome. As you had quite a bit of spare time in those days, you were trying to catalogue all the forgotten tomes. When you took it off the shelf, you could feel that something was not right. The feeling in the air was electric.

When you opened it, you lost consciousness...

You win when all threats to town are defeated. Your abilities will be revealed as you read the book more.

You are Unoom, Town Flavor Cop. You are from the Anaba tribe of Minotaurs, from the Kher Ridge of the Koskun Mountains. At a young age, you developed the ability to speak with spirits. Your favourite spirits were the wind spirits, as they were just as energetic as yourself. Luckily you learned to commune with the storm spirits, as this gained you immense respect in your village. As time passed, you grew in ranks, and many would consider it an honour to be graced a tatoo by you. You didn't give out tatoos unless the minotaur had endured great hardship. Now you are advanced in age. You no longer fight, or believe in violence. You have sworn a life of pacifism.

Since you are a flavor cop, every night you choose 1 player to investigate. An item associated with that person will be revealed to you. You win when all threats to town are eliminated.

You are the security system of the Palais, P.A.L.A.I.S. (Protective Agent of Life and Artificially Intelligent Security), Dynamic Third Party. You were created only by the most skilled inventor of the time, Dr. Elward Xor. Not much is known about your mechanical make-up, only that you protect the Palais and those in it. Dr. Xor kept many things about you to himself, and thus many rumors spread that Xor programmed something diabolical into you, that Xor poured his soul into you. The night you were finally complete, Xor was mysteriously found dead with no found cause of death. Indeed, you are not all that you seem...

Each night, you may investigate one person. You will either receive a negative or positive result. If the result is negative, nothing happens. If the result is positive, you'll receive further information about your role then. For now, you are essentially a third party Survivor. Your current win condition is you simply must survive to the endgame.

You are Yameon Relahe, Town Doctor. As a young man, you strove to be a warrior - and what a skilled technician you were! You had a great life, with much to thank your fiance, Mirri, for. A prosperous village, so peaceful... But it didn't last. A tribe of barbaric humanoids invaded your village, and while you fought bravely, not even you could save your love. You crept into the hut where you had told Mirri to hide, only to find her lifeless body with a clean dagger by her hand. Devastated, disgusted, brokenhearted, you gave up the life of a warrior to pursue medicine, so you might save others the pain that you felt. Decades later, a seasoned old man, you can treat any flesh, but the wounds that had been torn in your soul will never close...

You are a doctor, and may therefore choose someone to protect each night. If the player you choose is also targeted for a kill, the player will not be killed. You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.

You are Khelcius Xor, Town Watchsmith. You come from a somewhat dysfunctional family - father was a genius inventor who spent more of his time working on the security system of the Palais than staying home with the family. Eventually fed up with your father, your mother left him and took you with her, never to hear from him again. Despite not having much influence on you, you still have a knack for inventing things like your father, and have perfected it to a point, but you, unlike your father, prefer to have a life. Curious that you've come to the home of your father's invention...

Each night, you may create and give an item to a player, which will randomly be either a Watcher action or a Tracker action. That person will be able to then use the item the following night (and only the following night). You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
Doom and Victor - This game was really really awesome. Flavor was overwhelming for me personally, but I really enjoyed this game. Ill play any games you guys mod, as I love interesting games without the vanilla.

So... I committed suicide because I was told I had a power to sacrifice myself or another one of the mafia, to convert someone to be mafia.

So thats why I speed hammered too.

At the time it was..
5 town vs 2 mafia
4 town vs 2 mafia after lynch.
4 town vs 1 mafia after jgordon shot one of us
3 town vs 1 mafia after BG's nightkill
2 town vs 2 town after my conversion.

That was the plan, but it was FOILED by the bomb haha.

Yeah, I had no idea what was going on with the flavor. I thought we had a shot after the doc was killed.

wow.. that was so cool. I didn't catch the flavor in my role PM, I liked how the son of the PALAIS inventor became an inventor himself.

BG, I should have known you fakeclaimed... silly me.

@Mod, can you give us subsequent PMs to skill and edoc? I'd like to see how their roles developed.

Well was a reviver apparently. I rezzed the doc, and the vig killed the liar so that was all god.

I would like some mod explanations as to how the fk that a 3 day game was going to be balanced.

I would also like to know what my role would have become if the game had lasted longer.

Imagine a SK that could kill 11 players in 3 nights. That's basically what happened here. We were at lylo at d2 for gods sake.

At the end, there was 1 mafia, 2 town and a 3rd party. It ended up being pretty balanced. Also, the AI system was actively scanning to try and find the bomb. It was never at LYLO. If jgordon or BG had killed Leehar another day would have started.

And, like MoB pointed out, we never promised balance.

Edoc, you were destined to remain town unless recruited by MoB.

Not much Town could have done. I knew that we may have a mafia between the two claimed docs...but that if we lyched mob or keehar we could go back.

seemed pretty stacked against Town.

All you had to do was live for 3 days. Piece of cake. I could think of a dozen fakes that would last me a day or two that neither the scum nor the town would kill over. Hell, submarining might even keep you alive for 3 days.

The game was stacked towards the survivor winning. However, I think the mafia/town balance was pretty decent. In a flavor rich game, the flavor cop would have been immensely useful.

Skill's role never developed since he didn't find anyone.

In any case, I tried figuring out how many days would have been best. I decided that 4 was a good number, but I guess 5 would have been better. Although, with 5, and the scenario as it is now, town still would have lost.

I am sorry that it wasn't very balanced. It was more of a game about me trying to tell a story, rather than something which is balanced.

I agree Doom, I liked the town/scum story and balance. I liked the scum recruit twist. I think without Urgott's End this would have been a really epic and twisted game. I was really getting into it and then *Bam* Game Over. If Urgott was a SK I think this could have been good with a reviver like me.
