I agree you should use graphics, but you still need to simplify. You have just two rules: 1) you need four-in-a-row to get a bonus. 2) two bonuses cannot share more than one territory.
I had something like this in mind:
It is important that you show examples of how NOT to get a bonus.
Maybe someone can improve on this further?
Otto - this is sweet - Like it a lot...
I concur - if you don't show what won't get you double bonus then people will winge!! (Brunei can't attack Sumatra esque)

I agree, the only special case is when they are all on the same line, so the bottom section should show a 5-in-a-row, 6-in-a-row and a 7-in-a-row.
KEYOGI wrote:My only concern is people getting a +14 or any other high bonus in the game and wondering what the hell is going on.
Players will be acquiring territory over time, I don't think they will jump from a single 4-in-a-row to a 5x5 block in a single turn. So they'll see the bonuses build up from turn to turn. Maybe slightly different names for the continent groups? "Horizontal Conquer-4s", "Diagonal Conquer-4s", etc. so people can better match the bonus text to the board.
Maybe small changes in wording will clarify: "Every Conquer-4 is worth +2 armies"... "no bonus if Conquer-4s on the same line share more than one territory"... or something else.

Maybe I'll come back to it in September.
Well I won't try to change your mind except that this looks done to me assuming the XML works right.
Warning: You may be reading a really old topic.

I'm always here to fix the XML - I'm pretty damn sure it works right though!!
Hard to truly tell without play-testing it though.

i don't think a petition is needed, keyogi will finish this map. not now, but he WILL finish it when the time is right.
probably now wouldn't have been such a good idea with 2 abstract maps recently quenched. patience is important for optimal results.
