Thanks for the feedback. Geographical accuracy isn't the first priority for CC maps, and sometimes a bit of artistic license has to be taken to make the map play better.

I'm sorry, but at this point I'm not going to make any major changes to the map unless there are gameplay-based reasons for doing so.

I thought that changing Vojvodina would make it more interesting and accurate and giving bonus for Central Serbia+Vojvodina+Kosovo would be good

Yeah, the thing is, you're proposing some quite major changes that would require a major overhaul & re-design of the map. These are the types of suggestions that should have been presented while the map was still in development.

At this point... well, you're the only one asking for these changes, and no one brought these things up during development, so there isn't much I can do. If more people want these changes, and the foundry mods agree to take the map down and put it back in the foundry to be re-designed, then I can do that. But for now, it stays as is, barring any gameplay imbalances that need to be corrected.

Yeah, I 100% agree.
The FF and the Beta stages are there for tweaking a map not to completely redraw it (except when there's something really wrong from a game point of view)
Although some suggestions can be considered very good suggestions, they should have come earlier in the map development, that's why it is important that the players visit the foundry and suggest when map are in production and not only when in the Beta stage.
Anyway there're no reason for not have another map with your gameplay, so smithdetlic you can suggest your idea in the dedicated subforum or start to draw a new version of this map yourself. ;)

I came to forum today (by accident) :) I didn't know just how things work with map development. Like I said, I gave those suggestions from my point of view (as a player, not as a developer)

"Syrmia" should be named "Srem". Since all other names are how they were in SFRJ.

I suggested more things to be changed, but since there wasn't good will from the creator of the map...

some of the points mentioned by smithdetlic are important. he is from Serbia and I think he knows his country well. extra thing is "new" river between Srem and Slavonia. I understand that the map is almost done, so these huge changes are not welcome. but it is not the first time when I see that somebody refers to "priority" of CC - gameplay not geographical/historical accuracy.

I think many of things mentioned by smithdetlic could be done at the start of mapmaking. these would be not hurdles for gameplay.

all what I can say to mapmakers, please keep eye on geography and try accept historical, cultural aspects.

nice graphics and idea, btw.

Again, I have nothing against the changes suggested, per se. But they are being offered at the wrong time. Changes of that type should have been suggested when the map was still in development, and it is unfortunately too late to implement them at this point.

              Quenching

---The Beta period has concluded for the Yugoslavia Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready to be released into live play.

Congratulations natty_dread, your shiny new medal is well-earned =D>

So, feedback about this would be welcome.

Your problem is obvious: you're trying to pretend that Kosovo is not part of Serbia. The fantasy country of Kosovo the Americans have imposed didn't exist until very recently. Your trying to put it in a map of the Yugoslav period makes no sense.

Kosovo existed as an autonomous province of Serbia in SFR Yugoslavia, look it up.

So did Vojvodina, but they were "autonomous provinces", part of Serbian Socialist Republic. Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia had 6 socialist republics (Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia and Macedonia); Serbia had two autonomous provinces: Vojvodina and Kosovo&Metohia (which didn't have equal rights as 6 republics). You should have put serbian bonus here (for whole Serbian Socialist Republic), but what's done is done... Map is far from perfect and far from accurate, but is still playable... Until someone makes another, this is the only one in ConquerClub

Who says the bonuses have to correspond to republics only? Besides, making the whole Serbia into one bonus would make for a real crappy gameplay.

It's funny how some people are fine with all the inaccuracies in CC maps, except when it comes to a map of their own country - then it's a crime against humanity, lol... Seriously, I could be complaining about all the maps that show Finland as a part of "Scandinavia", but I figure it's not such a big deal... if the map is fun to play things like that don't really matter all that much.
