Galapagos - Does killing someone's dive mask knock them out?

Hi,

In the Treasures of Galapagos map, does knocking someone's dive mask territory out knock them out completely and revert their other territories to neutral as it does when you take out someone's last base on the Antarctica map?

I did read through almost the entire 32 pages of the Galapagos discussion thread but it was still unclear although it does seem to suggest so. The map itself says you need fresh water "for survival" but noone starts with fresh water unless they're counting your starting reef as fresh water.

NO, it does not.
there was once mention of that in development, but they scraped the idea.
Everybody starts with a diving mask, and it is part of the bonus structure, but you can easely do without. So no it is not comparable to the antartica map
