Unfortunately, something like that would require a significant rewrite of portions of the game engine on lack's part. I believe similar things have been suggested before, but it would likely be fairly low on his priority list.

AK_iceman wrote:I dont know much about making maps, but how hard would it be to make an animated map? Maybe the natural barriers could shift after x amount of turns, or when someone gets eliminated they disappear. Or the rivers in the map divert, or the lakes dry up, or the montains get excavated. The possibilities are endless. Just an idea tho, if someone wants to expand please do. I think it would take this game to another level.

I was thinking the same thing, but more of territories changing from one continent to another. I was thinking of an American Revolutionary War scenario or WWI or II.

Since the graphic portion of the map can be a .gif, I don't see any obstacle to the image changing from moment to moment, but animated xml seems out of the question.

I think that it would need to be both, unless you just wanted the map to go from day to night or something.

A fluid XML would be required if natural borders were to change, or if a country was going to go from continent to continent.

For a while I thought a 'Korean Peninsula' map might be interesting. I figured it would have to be a pretty close view of the area, due to it being rather linear. Also perhaps there would be something unique for someone to do in the 'DMZ' area. Also I think an option that would be unique for this map would be some sort of 'Missile Attack', I.E. you can attack from home base to way far away. Not sure how this should be implemented as an option, but seemed like something different for this map.

I was thinking maybe an Eternal Darkness or Pikmin map, but then I remembered the whole conversation about the Super Mario World map... same would go for Pikmin obviously, not so sure about Eternal Darkness though. Maybe a Resident Evil mansion map... I dunno.

just a thought but what about Final Fantasy maps, i mean i know Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2 has maps in the game of the whole thing, and maybe bonuses to certain areas like zanarkand or bevelle... or would that be a copyright issue and not be able to be done... i know there is likely to be a map image online somehwere, gods know that there are enough FF freaks out there to have it be done..
I am slowly going insane, thanks to Jay, Brandon (the douch tool) and sammy gags for his pic of bubba....

Arena Map

6 countries all connected everyone starts with 100 men but with only 3 rienforcements a day it's a risk for when you attack is it worth the risk?

I think this would work well as it truely is RISK but strategy involved you can lower the amount of units in each area but that would risk lowering the amount in your area you could watch everyone fight but risk them fighting you.

It involves a lot of luck but also contains strategy

Max, this idea is simply the worst! A tip: develop better your computer map, it can be interesting.

morph: Actually a Final Fantasy map has already been mentioned on this thread, here. Check the first post in the thread for the Big List.

max: Alas, that's another one of those things that's beyond the power of the current mapmaking system. It would require lack to implement changes in the underlying game engine.

Castle wars where parts of the castles are the countries and they are connected by trade routes if you control all the routes you get a major bonus (since you control trade). thats a start for a map

Map of NYC

Post by Jgood »

I saw a little post of this before, and I am on the west coast, but the Five boroughs are internationally known. I think somebody could do wonders around this map. I still am new using this site, but hopefully you can use the link below.

I would love to play this, but copyright. Solution? A New York, Miami, LA, SF or Las Vegas map, which is almost the same thing, and some non-copyrightable references from GTA woven in.

new map Computer

Post by nascarfan38124 »

I had an idea before i saw the site map suggestion of making a map of the key board or even the whole comp.

make some continents like a couple on the keyboard one on the moniter one on the mouse and if you make the tower or base (main comp. part) nearby put some on that too

you can divide the key board inbetween the alphabetic part and the arrow keys to make two continents

you can divide the mouse into countries on the mouse pad or just on the mouse like by the left and right buttons the ceneter rolly thing and the main part that is in your palm

and my final idea is to put the classic map on the comp screen and make the continents countries insted because that would be a big map

you can probably think of extra pieces like a camera or mike or nearby fan or something that you can add

I know this is probably hard to make but that is my fantasy map and i would like to see someone take on the challange

How about this for sheer lunacy: Classic Map on Steroids. Every country is a bonus-spawning continent - some worth 1, some worth 2 - it would be off the charts. Going first would be AWESOME. Not going first would be NOT AWESOME.
