Banana Stomper wrote:ok, i'm not sure how mafia online usually works, usually when i play with my friends, we don't have the variants of cop and stuff (but we did use them last night and it was siiiccckkkk).

At home, usually the turns out to be pretty random unless something occurs that catches the eye of a townsperson and the mafia members are able to be picked out. What we lack here is the bonus of actually sitting with the other players and trying to read their body language and see into their thought process beyond what they say.

But we do have an added advantage. We have players that have information that could aid us in deducing who is mafia. We've already lost our cop and gained nothing from him, if this is acceptable play, i think its time we start finding out what people know.

Again, i'm not sure if this is good sportsmanship, or if it is smart play, or if its even helpful, but there is information out there, and i don't think decisions should be made until some is out there. Perhaps Droz was right in the no lynching business. It was something i was not used to, and it just sorta sounded fishy to me from the get go, so i mistakingly jumped on him.

I'd like to know what the other players think about this. Should we start to divulge our players and what we know?

Basically he is trying to get everyone to roleclaim, which is something that can only help the mafia.

Not a huge thing but no one is talking so I was trying to get the game moving.

It got you to post didnt it?

I suppose it did... I've been waiting for some more evidence this time, and I'm not just bandwagoning either, I'm going to go with who I think.

I can't really suspect anyone at the moment, I don't know.

I don't think BananaStomper has anything to hide, I don't think the mafia would be so blaitantely trying to get people to roleclaim.

Just to throw this out there...

Has anyone considered Painbrain? He's posted a total of twice in this whole thread. Once to say 'He was in' for the game. And the other was to 'Vote Droz'. Is he normally not very active? It could be an interesting strategy if he was mafia....lay low and let other people accuse the usual posters of things. He might be flying under the radar, and simply letting everyone forget about him.

Acropolis hasn't posted much either, but his few posts were generally meaningful. But something to consider nonetheless...

i was not looking for roleclaiming. I don't care who is the doctor or who is cop or who is backup doc. Some players are given information about who is in the mafia. Not necessarily blatently given the player, but info about the mafia. Thats what i was looking for.

Okay, I'll admit I havn't posted much, but then again I havn't been on the site very much lately, I"m getting out of the Navy in 3 weeks and moving back home so stuff is hectic right now.

But just to clear a few things up, we do have a clue, it was in the letter left with the Hoff burgers. The i in sincerly was dotted with a heart, I don't know of any guys who would do that, so it hints that at least one of the mafia is female, so who out of all of is left alive is female? It could just be a player with the role of Princess Peach, but more than likly the female roles were given to female players.

Also, another idea, is that if one of the mafia is the Princess, than I would suspect she would side with mario judging by the game lines of the mario series, but that may be thinking to far into it.

Im pretty sure that Broomy distributes the roles randomly.

He did in the last game.

Also in the last game he said that we shouldnt read into the day scenes because he tried to make them fun, so they did not completely reflect the night.

Alright, was just curious to where you were! Since it looked like you were taking turns. First I thought you maybe went inactive due to any number of reasons.

FOS: for info fishing

I was thinking the same thing but I didnt want to jump on him for something so small. DRoZ was lynched for little things as well and that didnt turn out great.

I only gave FOS I don't vote unless it's a major FOS

Well, i think i might have to pull out an FOS of my own.

If in the mafia its a good idea to try and stay out of the suspicious eyes of the towns people. There are two things that are genearlly avoided by the mafia in order to accomplish this. Avoid silence and avoid jumping out and accusing someone without too much to go on. A key to accomplishing that is to sit back and wait for someone to put themself out their enough to be considered justified in accusing the person, or to bandwagon after an accusation has been made. After i had expressed my thoughts on Droz, one player readily jumped on board and began an onslaught of comments sure to paint a picture of a mafia member. This player was sure to utilize rhetoric and slap the label of scum onto Droz. It wasn't suspicious play, but scum. And again, the player is doing all that he can to bring forth any ounce of "suspicous" activity and bring it to the forefront of the discussion in order to get another player lynched. This player took my statements and twisted them into a dig for roles. Not once did i suggest we reveal roles but i suggested that we reveal information. Perhaps i was wrong in assuming that players in the community had hints about the mafia, perhaps i'm the only one along with my townsperson counterpart whom i get to speak with at night. I have information about the mafia that i had hoped would come out in the divulging of information, (player names and knowledge, not roles). I'm avoiding putting the info out there yet because if the mafia knows just what i know as well, it could be easy to dodge the fingers of the townies with a lie.

I'm not ready to put a vote out there or anything, but seeing as how since any attempts of investigation have been met with accusations, play has grinded to a halt. Hopefully the ball can get rolling again.

FOS Mach.

Hm, well this thread keeps getting pushed down to the bottom of the forum, anyways...

I see your point Banana about those who promtly accuse and throw out all the muck they can to make themselves look a little cleaner. So far Mach has been that picture painter you talked about. He's got the action going usually when it slows down, and is usually quick ready to jump onto someone's back and drive a dagger down their spine. I think you're on to something there. That said though, if one mafia member is completely loud and spewing accusations, I think it would be fair to say that any other ones might lay low. I still think we should look into those not speaking much, or simply posting, but posting nothing worth while to the investigation. The 'few words' posts.

Just some thoughts of mine.

You said this back on page seven. To me it sounded like you wanted to find out our roles.

Banana Stomper wrote:Well, i think i might have to pull out an FOS of my own.

I dont think that you guys understand, FOSs are not that big of a deal. Scum use FOSs much more than they do voting because they do not have the substance of a vote.

First off, you are completely wrong about silence. Many times mafia just sit back and watch the town accuse each other.

Then you say that the mafia "avoid jumping out and accusing someone without too much to go on" you are accusing me of being mafia and I have accused you. That means that you are saying I do have alot to go on.

According to this logic it is scummy to accuse someone when there is alot of evidence, but good to accuse someone with little evidence.

lets see, where to begin....

Aside from the fact that my statement was a question, prodding the rest of the players to find out what they thought about it, i didn't say anything about roles. Should we divulge our players and what we know? Players...ie mario, luigi, peach... What we know i.e. there are 3 mafia members.

FOS's aren't a big deal, you're correct. its just a name for declairing some sort of suspicious activity or something.

And there you go with the scum thing again.

Well, lets see. Who have we brought up as being potential mafia members so far?

Exactly, it is something the mafia would try and do. So people that do it are suspected... Which is my point.

Now, lets clear up what i was saying. The towns people must be an inquisitive bunch. They must be willing to point out small things in order to try and get larger things brought to light. The risk in doing this is that people start to get suspicious of you cause you're jumping out there accusing people, apparently trying to get them killed for whatever reason. The mafia member on the other hand, will not take such a risk. When i said they won't accuse someone without too much to go on, what i should have said was that they won't accuse someone unless they are sure that they can get the backing of the community. That the community won't turn around and say, wait, why did you accuse them? Basically, with how you've been playing up through this point, i am for myself convinced.

Tough to get things going when there are only 4 people posting...and then only 3 ish or so with actual information or discussion....and it doesn't help that the Off Topics is getting spammed. I'll bring this post towards the top a little...
