Re: British Embassy in Tehran Stormed
LOL, ol' Cameron says UK will muster a "serious response" to liberation of UK embassy. With what? He can't protect Birmingham from 15 year olds.
Now that Invincible has been scrapped, they only have one aircraft carrier left and it can only put to sea in the summer and fall. Guess Iran better get ready cause all hell is gonna rain down on them ... next June ...
Unless it's serious enough that all ERII's other realms mobilize for war. No one wants to mess with Barbados, New Zealand and Grenada.

The people didn't spontaneously riot. I believe they were egged on by the Revolutionary Guard and the government. This is very similar to the 1979 occupation of the US embassy in Iran. The real protesters in Iran are shot at by their government.
Just another case of the fundamentalist right using the average joe.

i thought that was put in the constitution so you could defend yourself if the US government became to oppressive. isn't the Iranian government attempting to bear arms because they believe the US government may become too oppressive.
how can the US allow the British to deny the Iranian people their basic rights?
The US constitution only applies to US citizens. It isn't applicable to anything other than domestic affairs in the US.
And we're talking about trade sanctions, not human rights violations. The UK is under no obligation to trade with Iran, and is perfectly free to withdraw cooperation if Iran behaves in a way the UK doesn't like. Iranian banks have no 'right' to trade with UK ones.
if it only applies to US citizens why does the US government keep invading other countries to give the invaded citizenry those rights?

Can we make a new rule? I'm sure this would need ironing out, but here's the new rule:
"When referring to the activities of a government, military, police force, or other government arm, do not use the pronoun "they" or substitute the word "[country's] citizens" for a government or government arm."
I think this rule would prevent statements like "All Ugandan citizens want to kill gays" and "All Brits want to riot" and "All Americans want to invade Iran."

Not to say that there isn't a disturbingly large population of politicians in the United States who want to invade Iran (we call them Republicans... I call them "fake conservatives.") And not to say that disturbingly large population of U.S. citizens also want to invade Iran.

exactly. those poor Iranians are being denied one of the universal rights that Americans hold dear. surely a US led invasion of the UK if they do not withdraw the sanctions is the proper and only response.

Which 'right' are the Iranians being denied, pray tell?

Trade between British and Iranian banks is irrelevant. The UK sanctions do nothing to impede Iran's abilility to construct weapons.
Are you supporting US intervention in the domestic policy of foreign states? Your argument is so circular I can't tell.
inb4 you realise that the UK was joining the US in imposing sanctions, not acting alone.

Dear friends all around the world
Those who attacked the British Embassy in Tehran are NOT STUDENTS, but members of "Basij" (that is a vigilante army, supported directly by the government's leader). If your press media are referring to them as students in, that's because they want you to support your government to attack Iran. But please tell your people and your government (if you have the means to) that this is not what the people of Iran want, and this is not what they are.

Stop kidding yourself. US citizens may have the right to bear arms, but that is limited to certain types of weapons. Certain kinds of firearms cannot be owned by the average Joe, and I am pretty sure nukes fall into that category.
