yeah the only player who show up to the game was our goaltender !
Re: NHL Season 2011-2012
The Red Wings/Bruins game was great yesterday, particularly the final minutes,
even though Detroit should have been skating short handed for the final 1:25.
I didn't see much in my Dallas Stars in the pre-season,
but they're off to a decent start.

Crosby delivered an elbow to the head of Foligno last night...doesn't he know that head shots can cause concussions?

Price had the f***ing puck covered, no goal should have been the call on the ice, pens-habs game should not have been over.

I didn't watch the game, so I'm just looking up the highlights and of course I can't find any good, slow-motion replays of the goal.
From what I've seen, it looks like Letang hit the puck that was against Price's leg pad then it went under the glove and he got it on the other side of Price's glove. Then again I haven't seen a good enough replay.
If Price had it under his glove and Letang went underneath and got it, then I agree with you.

It looks to me like Price didn't have the puck frozen. Yeah, he had his glove over it and it was out of sight. But at that level of hockey, I'd like to see that the goalie has possession of the puck...not just covered, but covered and controlled. It was kinda between the glove and the pad, but not in the glove.

I think you're just hating on good Penguins players =D
Anyway, I'm biased and of course I don't think Crosby is or ever was a whiner. He was targeted a lot because of his skill so I have no problem with how he acted. Then again, I'm a Penguins fan, so a;oweirjwa;oeirjawer
After securing the Gold in the last winter Olympics for Canada, the man walks on water as far as I'm concerned. I watched his first game back, and the man was a one man high-light reel. Amazing skill set. Gotta admire that, but haters gonna hate.
Anyway, how about them Jets??

Jets are looking pretty good as as of late. Slow start. But looking better.

the ref was on the right side of the net, impossible for him to see the puck, normally he should have whistle ( like all the other ref do ) once again ( second time this week ) a decision against the habs, the other one was a puck on top of the net, the guy take it out with his stick then pass in front of the net and a goal ... high stick on the play ( higher than the net ) but the ref allows the play, wake up refs !!

Normally, when a goalie has his glove over the puck and hit glove is on the ice, it means that the puck is frozen, especially seeing as how the puck was halfway under his pad, thats a frozen puck anywhere else. Look at any other goalie, 90% of the time, when they freeze the puck thats what they do, they just cover the puck with their glove...

I referee hockey and have done so for over 20 years. If the play is continuing on the far side of the net when you are blocked out, you don't just quickly blow the whistle. The thing is, the Penguin player continued to play the puck and he dug it out immediately. Price did not have the puck covered properly; if he did, the Penguin player would have tried to dig it out, would have been unsuccessful, and the referee would have blown the whistle at that time.
Regarding the "high stick", I did not see the play, but what you described is not a high stick. The "higher than the crossbar" rule only applies to pucks that go into the net. If the puck was subsequently shot at the net and that was the shot that went in, then the play on the top of the net is governed by the regular high stick rule which is the normal height of the player's shoulders. I don't think there's a player in the NHL whose shoulders aren't higher than the crossbar.

I've tried to explain the "frozen puck" confusion earlier. If referee were to blow whistles as quickly as you seem to think they should, there would be way too many whistles when the puck isn't actually frozen. It's possible that if the referee was on the other side of the net, and therefore saw Price's half-ass cover of the puck, he might have blown the play down, but it would have been a quick whistle from the blind side of the net.
When I was watching that video, I was thinking "What the hell were the defencemen doing?" At 2:20 one of the announcers articulates my thoughts. The blame for that goal is on the defencemen, not the referee. When the goalie is taking the puck, you have to take the man.
Sorry man, I would like to see Montreal beat Pittsburgh, but that goal should have been prevented with the Montreal defensemen clearing the front of the net as soon as Price was trying to cover the puck. The Montreal defensemen were responsible for that goal - period.

I do agree that the defencemen didnt there job, but as a goalie, when your glove gets poked-check twice by letang and James neil just rams right into that, and you can also see that Neil drags Price , so at the there should have been goalie interferance.

Meh, at least it was an OT loss and not in regulation.

Au revoir, Boudreau. I think they should've at least waited until the season was over to see what kind of a run the Caps could've made in the playoffs with him (they would've lost in at most the second round, though).

I'm afraid I must concur with AoG.... Honestly, so many people act like this in the NHL and nobody hates on them like this. It's perhaps a matter of skill more than anyone thinks. Regardless, he has matured into a player everyone enjoys watching. Why you holding a grudge?
I love watching Crosby play. I just don't like him

I know my Jets aren't a championship team or anything but I'm stoked at how they are playing right now. It's just great to have the NHL back in Manitoba.

The Leafs got beat badly twice this year by the Bruins. They play again this Wednesday and Saturday. This is a rare Saturday night when I'm not reffing, so I'll be able to watch both real-time. I love back-to-back games.

Does anyone understand why the panthers are so good this year? They ship their best player to Washington, they flourish and perform better than.... ever? But Washington on the other hand sucks. Has Vokoun been jinxed by the hockey gods???

Pretty much since their trade with vancouver they have been amazing...
And as for Paccioretty, I agree with the suspension, maybe a bit harsh, but I don't mind... If only the NHL could be consistant with their suspensions

Sometimes just a new mix of players can make all the difference.

Does anybody know about the 2'500$ fine that James Neil got because of the high stick he did to Subban... I just read it but there's no explanation...

hm.... No, it must have something to do with the hockey gods!! Why is Minnesota performing so well? As far as I remember they didn't make a lot of changes except for the havlat vs heatley deal. And Heatley hasn't even played well!!
