The final spreadsheet has good percentages, just a thing....you wrote into it that every game will start with 52 territories, but into the spreadsheet you have 53 starting territories. I missed something? :-k

Forward to below:
I have just played 5 x 1v1 games on this new adjusted attempt to correct map, and on two occasions a player started with a bonus, although on one of those games the bonus was able to be taken away on the first round because of the reduced intermediary neutrals to 1. The remedy did not fix the problem.

Yes you missed something or i didn't explain it on the sreadsheet properly...
The Spanish Wweather line has a 5 for 5 requirement with 0.22 and 0.43 %s respectively for 1v1 and 0.22 and 0.65 %s for 3 players games. I consider that too high compared with all other combinations.
Therefore i propose that one of these regions in Spanish Weather Line should start as neutral to reduce that probability to hopefully 0%.
This will bring the starting position numbers down from 53 to 52.
Capito? :)
However, i would like someone of higher skill in this area to examine this proposal to see if it still has flaws,
thanks tnb80

Yes, got it.
I already asked to someone with a "higher skill in this area" to come here and look at your numbers.

Nice map, congradulations and thank you for your dedicate efforts mate...
One thing that is bothering me a bit... Is it possible to resize the map, cos it is just too large and big to fit on my screen even though i have got a fair large screen 1440 x 960

HardAttack, thanks for dropping by...
unfortunately, no i won't be downsizing the map.
you could try to set a larger different size on your screen by using the desktop properties.

i might be wrong but i'm pretty sure he's talking about a laptop display. most likely a 15.6'' with a native 1440*900.
the interesting fact is that i play on such a display and i had no trouble with trafalgar. i mostly use large maps but sometimes i do switch to the small so i see no problem with the size of the map.

i can't immediately see any flaws in the new table produced by the probability spreadsheet dated 20 october, amended by one spanish weather neutral. as long as the new xml has been written correctly (for instance, counting flagships in the way intended), the chance of dropping a bonus in 1v1 ought to be lower than in many maps that have perfectly good starting outcomes.

Version 63 Changes.

New neutral positions:
with the exception of flagships and intermediary neutrals:
1. all other neutrals have been removed.
2. new placements for balancing neutrals are Orion; Bellerophon; and San Augustin +2 each

Bonus Change:
There are new bonuses to acquire. this has been done to balance the map more so for 1v1 games and aviod the bonus on drop syndrome.
Also note: i have lifted the British bonus on Lee Line to +6. This is because there are 13 regions in that bonus and it requires 10.
It is a lot more dispersed than the Weather line bonus above it where there is a large block of ships that are easily obtained.

Love the map....
Just 1 question, does anyone think that making all the non ship spots(b2, f4 etc.) 1's takes some of the strategy out of the game and seems to make it very easy to move about the map. Maybe its just me and i'm so used to them being 3 before and being able to use them as a small buffer.

I'll have to see how the new balancing goes with the map.

purely as buffers, 3 neutrals was certainly overdoing it, considering that none of the ships occupied initially are vital to a player's chances.

we'll need to do a lot more along these lines, since ur comments also apply to the french and spanish weather line fleets. i suggest +9 for british weather line, +7 for french weather line and +8 for spanish weather line. french lee line also deserves a +6 bonus because nearly every ship needs to be defended.

I am unsure to do this - because if we make the bonuses too high it's going to be too easy to take a side.
Ian, i've thrown these into the bonus calculator and i get repective bonuses down the list of:
8
7
4
11
7
9

Given that these figures include the flagships, and the fact there is only 1 neutral intermediary now, i'd like to reduce each to:
6
5
3
8
6
7

These are on top of the flagship bonuses if players take these at +2 each
Your thoughts?

the french weather line bonus is probably more difficult to hold than the british, so at least make them equal at +5. otherwise agreed. will u reduce the neutrals on the flagships to 2+2 if the flagships turn out to be untouched in the majority of beta games?

Sorry ian, you're talking about the french weather line...it's already proposed at +5
are you meaning the spanish weather line?
6 BW
5 FW
3 SW
8 BL
6 FL
7 SL

Yes i'd be happy to reduce the 3 neutrals on flagships to 2

no, i mean equalise the british and french weather line bonuses. incidentally, players seem to be taking and holding flagships in most 1v1 games, then going on to win in the majority of these, so 3+3 neutrals seems to be working well.

sorry ian, been tied up with uni stuff...
so you want
6 BW
6 FW
3 SW
8 BL
6 FL
7 SL
with flagship neutrals to remain as 3.
and neutral 2s on Bellerophon, Orion, San Augustin as the balancing vessels
