Well its backfired with me because you will get no entry fee and , if this is the future vision , no further premium either :(

UDPATE

To make sure that the cup fills quickly, I downsized it from 6 player games to 5 player games. The prizes and the rest of the setup remain the same, but there are now 625 participants and the odds of winning have doubled! If you are undecided about participating, now is you last chance to get in the inaugural Conquer Cup I.

I'd have thought the odds of winning being doubled would be a deterrent. Methinks you mean 'halved' ;)

I'll do your proofreading for a mere 500 Conquer Coupons if you like.

I think you meant to make sure that the cup fills at all.

Not sure why you said that... its day 2 and its already 550+ signed up....I can imagine in a week it would be filled with the old set up especially when you can do some survey's and play for free

I'd like to introduce you to the Law of Diminishing Returns. I'd also like to point you to the fact that if you actually believed the tournament would fill quickly to 1200+ participants, why decrease the potential players? If it's a reaction to many users' opinions that find this stupid, why not just ignore them if you'll hit capacity?

It's clear from Lack's post they were trying to create an increased incentive to join, suggesting current incentives would not fill the tournament. Also, reducing the amount of participants would make the site look less silly when this thing starts with 95% capacity, instead of the 45-50% capacity it would have likely had for the 1200+ tournament.

Future Conquer Cups may have more games per round, so if you get eliminated in one game, you have a chance to keep going by finishing off your other games. The format and number of participants will be adjusted some as we figure out what makes for an optimal Conquer Cup!

The date on the OP is meaningless because the thread was created in a private forum and then only actually moved to be visible to the public on Monday.

If odds were 1000:1 and are now 500:1, your chances, and odds, doubled.

Not sure why he downsized it. It looked like it would fill within a week. I think he should've kept it at 1295. Reducing the amount of players for Conquer Cup II makes sense but Conquer Cup I would've filled!

So when were players who had already signed up going to actually be informed of the change from 6-player games to 5-player games? By informed I mean a PM or email, not having to check back at the sign-ups or page 7 of the announcement. Disgraceful considering some will have paid for their entry.
Important Tournament Notice

The data for ALL of my tournaments has potentially been lost. I am working to recover it but as I am away on business all of this week, there will be some delay. Sincere apologies.

Doesn't it also change how games will be played? Going from 5 to 6 doesn't seem like much, but with escalating and a 20 round cap, you've just increased each players' territory count (making them more difficult to eliminate) and decreased the likely cash values of sets in later rounds since factoring out a player means you'd lose somewhere around 3-6 extra cashes by 20 rounds...

I am curious to what makes this the largest global domination game?

Still curious and how does the downgrade effect the record? Is this a speed tourney to go for some kind of record?

Well my tournament addiction forces me to pay the five bucks. Being a multi player esc game I am sure I will end up with a few foes in this one as it seems very few players have a real clue on how to properly play an esc game. I just could not resist playing though.

I mostly play tourneys for the last few years, so if I have to start paying for entering those after already spending 200 bucks (in my currency) a year for membership, then I guess I'm going to be off this site long before my membership actually ends in 2013 somewhere.

The rand is 6 to 1 vs the USD..... Even still that makes it only 150.00 I do not know if that is a ton of money in SA or not, but given things are usually pretty equal I would say no?

The Conquer Cup is purely optional. Community tournaments are still free and going strong!
