This is a Tournament Players Association Year 2(TPA2) event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments. All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You need do nothing more than join one or more of the TPA2 events that will be announced each Monday. Check back on the TPA2 scoreboard in the Tournaments--> General Info forum to see how you're doing.
Beat the Odds!
Many sequential 2 player tournaments are frustrating because a series can be decided by who goes first in the most games, not by which player is the most skilled. Beat the Odds attempts to remedy this by rewarding players who go 2nd and still manage to win.
Signups
All are welcome to join, freemiums keep in mind you'll need to dedicate 3 spots to this tournament for the entire duration, turnaround should be pretty quick though since it's only 2 player games. Signups will last for two weeks, then I will start no matter how many players have signed up. Expect your first games to come sometime around Wednesday, November 9.
Each player starts with one life. Lose all your lives and you are eliminated. The tournament will be structured in rounds. Each round you will fight a random person in a series matchup, as described below. The loser of the series loses one life, while the winner remains at his/her previous life total. This keeps going until all but one player is eliminated. To reward those who advance far into the tournament, a bonus life will be granted to any player who manages to win 4 games going 2nd. This can occur multiple times, so if a player gets to 8 wins going 2nd, they will gain a 2nd life, 12 wins gains a 3rd life, etc. If there are an odd number of players when a round starts, a player will be randomly selected to get a "bye" from the players with the most amount of lives.

Each series is to 5 points. If you win going first, you get 1 point, while if you win going second, you get 1.5 points. The games will come in sets of 3, although this pace may need to slow down as players get closer to 5 points, to prevent both from crossing 5 in the same set.

All games will be sequential, automatic, escalating, chained, sunny. Each round maps will be picked at random from the selection below. Most of these are large but not overly complicated maps, to provide for even and exciting games:
