Game Replayer

Post by TheFissk »

[Concise description:
  • a way to "watch" your games after they have been finished

Specifics/Details:
  • their would be a option to go through the turns, (watch them be taken after they have been taken?).
  • i apologize if it has already been suggested or their is a add-on to do this. i'd like to be directed to it if their is.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • this would allow beginers to "watch" the better players take their turns and allow them to learn strategies and about the maps by watching experienced players play on them. this could be useful in the Society of Cooks because they can put interesting or good games up for show to learn from.
i'm not lost just exploring alternate destinations

read the log?
the attacks (failed or succes) are not in the log, so that will prohibit any type of replay

saving state of map every round for future reference

Post by liamrisksmart »

A forward and backward button that shows the state of the map as you saw it in previous rounds. So instead of looking at the actual game, if you click backward you would see the map as it was, not as it is. I think it would be an amazing tool. Not only would it be enjoyable to see how you clicnhed games or let others slip away but it would increase the standard of play in fog games.

after fog games it could also unfog all the snap shots of each round.

It would save people taking screen shots in fog games to remember the map better.

I think that would be a great idea, myself. It would also level the playing field between people who check on games often and those who check only on their turn.

I would not mind something like this, but I doubt it will be implemented because of the snapshot feature in the BOB addon.

When you have BOB installed you can take snapshots, so you can revert back to them.

What would be nice is to have BOB take the snapshots automatically, for those of us who are lazy and/or forgetful

Please don't invite me to any pickup games. I will decline the invite.

Can't happen. Dako knows the technical side of why. Something to do with where the data is stored

I could have sworn there was an addon that takes a snapshot of every turn or attack or something.

Are you just messing with me?

I'm pretty sure that I mentioned it about 6 posts ago. It's called BOB. Then, after I mentioned it, neanderpaul gave a link for BOB, then after he did that, someone quoted his link immediately before your post.

Well I was talking about one separate from BOB, but okay.

Well, what were you wanting it to do that BOB doesn't do then? I'm confused.

Game History

Post by jammyjames »

Concise description:
  • Allow users the function to be able to watch the entire play-out of the game once it has been completed

Specifics/Details:
  • The basic concept of this is for players to review the game with more ease than having to read over the logs.
  • This would operate kind of like the game Dice Wars

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • Allows for a more thorough and clear cut analysis of games
  • I get to show people really how bad my dice are  Instead of them having to read the log and understand nothing
  • Make the job's of the Multi hunters much easier (Easier to spot foul play if you can physically see the game)
  • Give the SoC teachers a big help in teaching new players - allowing them to view games and strategies will provide a strong learning assist

I think we'll just need to ask for "Game Log 2.0" implementation (which is currently stickied in this forum) and then someone will definitely create a script for the thing you, me and gazillions of others want.

I will note that in the suggestion Evil Semp.

If it would also help the site in hunting respects it would definitely be worth implementation.

I like the idea. It would definitely make the job of the multi hunters and C&A mods easier also I think.

I totally support the suggestion but I don't think that it will be implemented very soon(it requires a lot of coding :|)... maybe it can be implemented easier if the presentation layer is rewritten into HTML5 but that also requires a lot of work... Tho I expected the suggestion to be implemented sometimes.

I like this a lot. It will definitely help people trying to learn maps too.

I think that with the implementation of Dice Stats, this shouldn't be that much further of a step, should it? We already know all of the dice stats, which is every attack that happens, so why wouldn't we be able to extrapolate the information to show a game replay?

I want this.
