FAQ's

I am a new player to Risk. I never played the board game. I have 'newbie' questions. The FAQ file has answers to questions about technical aspects of the game site but nothing about the game itself.
I have questions like: "What do the country names and numbers on the side of the map mean?"
Perhaps a newbie section in the FAQ could help some of us out. For now I'll ask questions in game chat.

Well, I can answer your question about the countries and numbers. First, they're continents (or groups of states depending on map). If you have conquered the continent, then you get bonus armies at the beginning of each turn. Hope that helps for starters!

They are the army bonus you get if you control the entire country at the beginning of your turn.

so it struck me today that the General Discusion forum of getting swamped with newbies asking questions and even some others asking questions that keep coming up. Searched found this thread and decided to bump it. I really do think we need to expand upon the "How to Play" section or add a more game play related FAQ. The fact is, many people dont have the common sense to search the forum and find the answers they need.

It may not be needed right at the moment, but as the site grows, repeat posts about game play could swallow the forums, making them harder to navigate.
