So on the one hand: you forgot to include a bunch of "squares"! How could you forget the squares?
On the other hand: Conquer Club attracts a wide range of people, all ages and backgrounds. What one person considers their greatest work will seem amateurish to another. Ideally, we'd have a means to design and play a custom map without having to post it publicly... that way a bunch of kids could have fun drawing maps (with crayons or Microsoft Paint or whatever) and playing them with their friends without everyone else having to look at them or sort through them.
As the number of maps grows we need a better interface for managing them when searching for or starting a game. There could be categories (large, kids, political, 3-player, mash-ups, etc.), a "favorites" list, sorting options (by popularity, number of territories, etc.), and so on. We could have different criteria for what qualifies as a good map in each category.
On the 3rd hand: Russian Roulette was a great thought experiment to see how minimal a map could be; I wouldn't play it (much), but I'm glad it's in the foundry. The animal kingdom/zoo idea is a good idea; I bet someone makes a good map out of it some day. Someone will get "human body" right (it might be me). Rubiks Cube could lead to a good idea... eventually... when we have 3D maps... maybe.
On the fourth hand: hmmm... maybe I better not do the human body map.
