On the small map, the grey area surrounding Riga seems to be missing it's border, which is there on the large.

I've fixed the border the other day (btw thanks natty :) ) but I forgot to post that I did it.
@ thebastard, I don't think it's a problem if the 2 versions are not exactly the same. ;)
I'll add the text to the legend later.

Hello, I think I run into what could be a significant error. The map says that each three Hanseatic Cities give +1. However, there is not continent in the XML implementing it.

Other minor nitpicks:
- The map says Mamelburg - XML says Memelburg
- On the large map, some cities/town could be a bit more centered:
Dobrin, Mamelburg, Mitau, Reval
Specially Mamelburg is very uncentered
Welcoming the long awaited Trench Warfare Setting (Previously Adjacent Attacks).

Best score: 2,346 - Best position: #618 - Best percentile: 4.87%

Just to confirm: there are eight Hanseatic Cities, so I will need two continents, one requiring 3 and giving +1, and one requiring 6, giving +2 and overriding the first.

A quick Internet search tells me the name is Memelburg, so I guess the map needs to be fixed.

As far as centering goes, I can see that Memelburg is off, but right now, I don't see anything seriously wrong with Dobrin, Mitau, or Reval. While I am adding the continents, I will take another look, but I doubt there is much more that can be done. I wonder if those troop ovals have been positioned with a finer resolution than the pixel positioning of the XML. I know when I spent a considerable time doing the centering for version 1.8 of the XML with version 3.2 of the large map, it seemed like the text was half a pixel off no matter what.

Just out of interest, were you checking for centering with 88's or 888's?

Side note: I will also capitalize "Ship" in the territory names to match the map (not sure when we parted ways on that).

Okay, here we go:

Baltic_Crusades_1.14.xml

This adds the Hanseatic Cities bonus of +1 for every 3, changes "ship" to "Ship" and adjusts the coordinates of Memelburg. If anyone still has a problem with coordinates, please post a snapshot, highlighted if possible, as I don't see any other trouble spots.

sorry if this is too late.
feel free to ignore my comments if you do not wish to make changes as they are only minor things:

1. the B and S at the edges of the title are written even though the parchment is torn. basically where's a tear in the parchment there should also be a tear in the letter but it's not.

2. the shadows of the parchments are too big. it makes them look like they're floating way above the map

3. the corner curls of the parchments have individual shadows that don't look normal. for example the top left parchment with castles is hit by light coming from NNW but its bottom right curl has a shadow as if light is coming from E

4. the title parchment is so squished and stretched it looks very weird.

5. i'd like to see a version where the castles/towns/cities/ships are set on either overlay or multiply. right now they stand too much apart from the rest of the map, mainly because they have so much white.

This alone is not such a good idea, as when you do that, the borders, colours etc. will show through from the icons. However, what I did on the Korea map to combat this very issue was, that I took a copy of the background layer, put it under the icon layers, and masked it with the alpha of all the icons, so the icons sort of have their very own background that goes over the borders & colours etc. Then you can set the icons in whatever layer mode you feel gives the best result.

Yes. That's right. Two continents will be enough.

ender516 wrote:A quick Internet search tells me the name is Memelburg, so I guess the map needs to be fixed.

Ok, then this part of the XML is considered Ok ;)

Maybe I did not explained myself well. The only one that really looks uncentered is Memelburg. The others are ok but maybe a litle bit shifted, just fine tunning. But I know that it's a pain to fine tune those things. Or maybe the can't even be fine tuned because if you move them a little bit then they go to the other side. As long as Memelburg gets fixed the others are ok.

I tried with 88 and 888. But for the centering I tried with 88. 888 are supposed to be some kind of exception. The ones that need to be centered are the 88s.

Tomorrow tuesday I will review the new version. So if everything goes as planned, you might get a stamp in 24 hours ;)

Adding XML stamp

Post by OliverFA »

[Adding XML stamp]

After being resubmitted, I have checked the version 1.14 of the file. Not only the missing continents appear, but also the rest of the code seems to be right.

There is the question about the city name, but this has to be addressed in the map image, not in the code, so I award the XML stamp to this map.

Congratulations Thebastard, ender516 and thenobodies80! ;)

Thanks for the stamp, OliverFA. I can't edit the first post, but I don't see any missing images. Could this have been a temporary issue with the image hosting site?

HIs profile says he was on about 90 minutes before OliverFA posted. His location says Slovakia, which implies it is now about 4:20 AM where he is. A guy has to sleep some time. (Please, no 4:20 jokes, it's just a coincidence.)

There are jokes to be had regarding the time of 4:20? :-s

At any rate, congrats on the XML stamp! :D

Ender, I mean that I'm worried that thebastard is no more interested....OliverFA has sent some PM to us all so he knows what is happening. ;)
Anyway, I'll try to catch him on MSN. He is a good guy and work with him was nice but I've asked him a 1000 times to keep the first post updated.....that's why I'm wondering where he is...I hope is not declaring forfait when we're so close to the completion of this map.

Btw, knowing him it wouldn't so strange if he is online at 4AM ;)

I am interested to learn the 4:20 joke too.

A pitty TheBastard is leaving. He seems to complain his maps don't succeed. Well, this one is pretty advanced, that shoul encourage him.

 He just loves his sweet leaf. 4:20 is when you smoke your herb. He hasn't responded to any of my walls to play more games. He could just be busy or frustrated with real life. Just speculation here.
