An unverified statement from The Hand of Global Jihad posted by jihadica (http://www.jihadica.com/claim-for-oslo-attacks/) ...
Praise be to Allah from his slaves, united and humiliating the people of shirk and companions of kufr. Prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, his family and companions and descendents.
Here another message has reached the countries of Europe and further proof for the countries of Europe that the mujahideen will not stand idly before their war against Islam.
Today Norway has been targeted in order to be a lesson, and a lesson to the rest of Europe. We have warned since the Stockholm raid of more operations and we have demanded that European countries withdraw their armies from the land of Afghanistan and end their war on Islam. We repeat our warning again to the countries of Europe and tell them that the demands of the mujahideen must be carried out.
What you see is only the beginning. There will be more.
Glory and praise to Allah! I bear witness that there is no god but you and I repent to you.

The Mexican Drug cartels were behind these bombings. If you think anything else, you don't deserve to be in the tea party.

I'm not sure about that even in Scandinavia alone ... what about when the Swedish Prime Minister was assassinated in downtown Stockholm, or the Foreign Minister was assassinated a few years ago in her bedroom, or the capture of the "FR" German embassy in Stockholm by Baader-Meinhoff, or the letter bombing campaign in Stockholm in the early 80's ... as for western Europe, just off the top of my head I can think of the British subway bombing, next month is the anniversary of the 1980 bombing of the Bologna train station by fascists where nearly 100 people died, "FR" Germany was racked by guerilla attacks in the 1970s like the assassination of Rudy Dutschke, you can't blink in Spain without ETA blowing something up, in Belgium and France you have the CCC and Action Directe, also the UK (Northern Ireland) over the last 50 years ... though, it's true this type of activity seems relatively unknown in Eastern Europe.
Hopefully the Norwegian government embraces this tragedy as an opportunity for peaceful reflection into the root causes of terrorism and how tactics of social justice and multiculturalism can be used to diffuse communal tensions, instead of cowboying up. (Fortunately, Norway has nothing to cowboy up with so I'm confident they'll go the peaceful reflection route by default.)
I meant terrorist attack to a government building! No Prime ministers office in western Europe has ever been bombed before as far as I know!
Ahem- Downing Street Mortar Attack
Rocket attack on MI6 HQ
For two terrorist attacks on government buildings in Western Europe.

Re: The explosion in Oslo
I think the gunman was waiting for the prime minister to show up at that youth political meeting and when he didn't the gunman killed the kids instead! Because the prime minister was scheduled to speak at that meeting! The goal was to kill the Norwegian prime minister but he wasn't in his office and he didn't show up at the meeting!

Re: The terrorirst attack and island slaughter in Norway
As a bit of an update, apparently:
Live updates here
And
Nothing too certain yet though.
The Norwegian justice minister has confirmed at a news conference that the suspect arrested today at the youth camp in Utøya was Norwegian.
Live updates here
9.07pm: On Twitter runehak, who works for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, says:
News agency NTB says police do NOT think this is international terrorism. #osloexpl #oslobomb #whys
and then
Nationen also writes police think its a local variant directed at the current political system. http://j.mp/o6QQSP #osloexpl #oslobomb #whys
And
10.01pm: Neil Perry tells me the police have said that the same man was seen at the site of both attacks.
He thinks this is starting to look less like the work of international terrorists and more like that of a lone attacker with a grudge against the government.
Nothing too certain yet though.

Very, very tragic. If there were only a way to stop these effin monsters for good; unfortunately, this is not possible.
Aside from that, there are plenty of Norwegian players on this site (some of which we call friends) who will read this thread yet, there are some light jokes being posted; prolly not appropriate since multiple deaths occurred; just sayin.

Yes...if it happened in America or UK, there'd be huge outrage among some of these forum posters.

Perhaps the attack is symbolic, a signal? Maybe it's Wikilinks?

Re: The terrorirst attack and island slaughter in Norway
Article in Norwegian about his possible motives. I ran it through Google translate, but I can't be certain about how accurate it is either as a translation or a representation of his motives.
Bear in mind it's all very preliminary.
Breivik has had many posts on the site Document.no, an Islam-critical site that publishes news and commentary. In one of the posts he states that the policy in day no longer revolves around socialism against capitalism, but that the fight is between nationalism and internationalism. He expressed clear support for the nationalist mindset. Anders Behring Breivik has also commented on the Swedish news articles, where he makes it clear that he believes the media have failed by not being "NOK" Islam-critical. Created Twitter Account For six days ago he put out his first and only message on the social networking site Twitter, where he laid out a famous quote by British philosopher and sosialliberalisten John Stuart Mill. "One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100 000 WHO garden only interests."

It is very clear that you are a completely clueless little idiot. You must be living a sheltered life in some southern suburb still sucking your mommas tits.
There are plenty of right-wing extremists even in our city. Unfortunately they are not all little cowards like you who sit and hate on an internet forum. I wish they were all as pathetic as you.
It was indeed a neo-nazi or an extreme right-wing nationalist targeting a youth camp for a party that is left-wing/socialist and which the prime minister also is the leader of.

Re: The terrorirst attack and island slaughter in Norway
The news about the lone gunman causes me rather to be reminded of the scene in "V for Vendetta" where, after the Old Bailey is blown-up by V, a smiling BBC newsreader announces the Old Bailey had been scheduled for "emergency demolition" due to the discovery of structural flaws.
Perhaps this fellow had experience as a sapper in the Norge army. If not, however, I have a hard time believing a single person could have pulled-off a technically precise, multi-location bombing of such power.

- A few minutes before the bombing I posted a Der Spiegel article noting the rise of extremism in Germany (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=149805), which is not confined there but spreads in France, Ceska, Rumania, as well.
If the economic crisis in Europe grows much worse, the continent will tear itself apart. There are a lot more like Breivik in the wings. 2012 will be 1933. People forget it was not just Germany, there was coordinated spread of fascism throughout Europe. These scenes weren't filmed in Berlin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jN_7_ET ... re=related. But, this time there is no Soviet Union to come to Europe's rescue.

From the bits and pieces I've put together from the Norwegian press- he certainly had some military training (I think it's compulsory for Norwegian men), and it seems he ran an agricultural business of some kind which would possibly have given him access to large amounts of fertiliser and other chemicals.

Re: The terrorirst attack and island slaughter in Norway
The police have confirmed that there were at least 80 people killed on Utøya, most of them youths.
This is the worst tragedy in Norway since the Second World War.

I read 9 from a reliable source.. will check and verify.
EDIT... obviously I heard wrong, as noted it is now 80 dead. That's worse than some of the recent "big" shootings here in the US. (Ft Hood, Virginia Tech, etc.)

Re: The terrorirst attack and island slaughter in Norway
Here is a Huffpost update;
Symmetries links are better.. I am keeping this, though because there is some useful info.
Norway was the victim of two attacks on Friday afternoon: a bombing in its capital city of Oslo, while the island Utøya was the site of a shooting at a youth camp. (Scroll down for live updates.)
Norwegian police said Friday evening that they were able to confirm the events are linked, shortly after arresting a suspect.
Dramatic video and photos have already surfaced in the aftermath of the Oslo bombing.
Seven are confirmed dead in downtown Oslo, and at least 10 are confirmed dead at the site of the youth camp shooting, though police fear the death toll will rise. Undetonated explosives were also found on the island.
There are unconfirmed reports that Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg was targeted in today's attacks. He happened to be working at home Friday and was unharmed by the bombing, per his senior adviser Oivind Ostang.
In a televised news conference, Prime Minister Stoltenberg addressed the country and sent a message to those who were behinds the attacks: "No one will bomb us to silence, no one will shoot us to silence," he said.
Norwegian police said at a press conference this evening that they urge people to stay indoors as they cannot be sure there aren't more bombs in Oslo, according to journalist Ketil B. Stensrud. They also said they cannot discount further developments

Well-said Ballong.
Thoughts and sympathies to the families of the murdered, this kind of hate has got to stop.
Re: The terrorirst attack and island slaughter in Norway
what baffles me the most is how 80 people weren't able to take down a lone gunman due to fear. if people cooperated better and acted more rationally during times of stress, this guy could have been stopped.

I don't think a bunch of unarmed 14-18 year olds were really going to be able to stop dude who had an assault rifle, a sniper rifle and a semi-automatic glock.
