Well, the senate map has just been quenched, should we still go along with the montreal map?

that's actually not a bad idea.... I imagine it would be a bit of a pain in the ass for you, selin, but it would be cool to get everyone onto a brand-spanking new map (other than checkers, of course )...

3 of the 4 montreal matches have already started. some may have advantages, some disadvantages, if we cancel them now. unfortunately too late to change it.

however we can change some maps for the 2nd round, i.e senate and king of the mountains can be added, montreal and another map can be taken out.

post some ideas which map we can take out.

In some matches we are nearing Round 45 :!:

Let me remind you that alive players at the end of Round 45 will share rest of the points.

Selin!

I must agree with the majority that say you are doing a fantastic job with this tournament!

The only changes I would like to see for future games are:

1) Change format from Standard to Terminator. I believe this would give incentives to players to take risks to eliminate others sooner (my ranking would definitely have gained a lot if these were Terminator games!).

2) Have all 10 game start simultaneous. There will probable be some down time before next round with only one or two games going.

Besides this, I really enjoy this tournament a lot!

Keep it up Bro!

Playing with terminator would incentive suicide. If a player in the last game now that he or she is not able to go thru to the next round he or she might go for the cc points instead. The same thing goes for a player who already is thru. That in turn would help one player and not be so helpful to an other.

Playing with terminator makes the players fokus away from the tournament to the scoreboard. Playing standard will bring that fokus to actually win the game.

If we want some faster games, we should play them with flatrate. I think that option, if we need to choose, is more fair.

Are we determined to keep this no cards? I don't really mind playing 10 games at once, but can't we do a round of flat rate and a round of escalating? If we're playing to eliminate chance, why not spread out the options so that everyone gets a go at the game type they're best at?

At the very least make it terminator. There's people not being eliminated who otherwise ought to be because it makes no sense to waste the troops on it. I would like to submit that this indicates that the tournament is secondary to the fact that if we lose these games we lose real points. Round 45 is like next week... a 6-person no cards game is for LIFE.

that's what I'm worried about... because just 'cause, for tourney purposes, the games are over after round 45, the games themselves are still there, and as much as we want to make this about the tournament, there's still a point issue...

1) I believe that terminator matches will shift the focus of the game from gaining tournament points to gaining scoreboard points. I experienced that in some other tournaments like Champions League.

2) Starting 10 games simultaneously is no problem. We can do so next round. We just need to pay attention that we don't have the same playing order in each game in order to bring some variety into the matches.

You have to qualify for the next round to worry about that.

The specialty of this League is that it consists of no card matches only. I tried to increase the difficulty level by doing so. On the other hand I agree with you that they last too long, e.g. the game 109511, I joined on 21st of November and there is no sign of ending.

Let's see who will be qualified for the next round. Although I have a strong tendency not to change the format of the League half the way, at least we can discuss it among the qualified players. =;

Surely this is already happening? In this game http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=243411#gmtop
Evil Semp was down to two 1-army countries sitting right next to you with 50 armies and Egatlas with 30, and yet nobody moved to eliminate him. I'm only using that example because it includes you  I could find numerous others from the games we're both in without much effort. I've already put effort into eliminating at least one player just because it would be good for the tournament and severely regretted it.

The point is, putting effort into eliminating ONE player does nothing to HELP me individually in the game OR the tournament, as the remaining points are EQUALLY DISTRIBUTED, and only disadvantages me in the long run by unnecessarily overextending my postition. Thus the tendency is to sit and do nothing like in an ordinary no-card.

If it was terminator, there would be incentive to eliminate players that is INDIVIDUAL to the tournament participants and thus the tournament would be more fixed than broken.

The only other alternative solution that would maintain the spirit of the tournament that I can see is to abandon the 45 round limit - thus awarding skill in the overall no card game and not a callous gaming of additional rule sets - and just resign ourselves to still be playing this by the end of the year.

Evil Semp is for me a buffer against selin
I killed Evil's rest of troops since he was a direct thread to my hoarding.

Group 1 has hit round 46 in its first game. It might be worth putting a note in the original post, saying that games will be finished out normally after they stop counting for the tournament.

Yeah, see, that makes perfect sense in a no card game, and well played to both of you. But if we're talking about the tournament, you're screwing yourself. But if it was a terminator game and you got points for eliminating him, I'm guessing you probably would've.

I think that we should consider terminator as a viable way to take the tourny forward because what I have found is that alot of players (myself included), once set will not take a risk because they are thinking about ranking points. The result is the game goes stale and we all just sit there waiting for round 45 and collect the tourny points.

At least with terminator your not just focusing on the end game (and points) but just on your own position within the tourny.

Plus its not as though we are playing low ranks and your points are going to take a big hit.

I will ask all qualified 12 teams, after we finish the first round.

The question is what will we do, eg 5 of the teams won't want to switch to terminator. Shall we respect their decision, because the beginning format of the League was standard? Maybe they wouldn't have played the League, if they had known it will be terminator.

So, I don't want to speculate for the time being. Let's wait for the end of the first round and then have a discussion among the qualified teams.
