lol indeed that could get someone fired up.....

anyway if you want to find stuff out about other religions...i would recommend beliefnet.org as a pretty good portal for a variety of different religions.

Having said that, i am an atheist who was raised as a mainline protestant christian. it isnt that there arent things within the message of christainity that arent useful for living a good life...but it doesnt mean that everything else is necesarily divine.

nah...i won't get tooo upset about it...

*shrugs* wiccans are a religion, just like Christianity, Islam, and all the other ones...if you can show me why you think its not, i'd be happy to respond to that...otherwise, don't bother posting about it...

now, this thread wasn't meant to start another religion debate...

You must concede there's a difference between a religion and a superstition. I mean a lot of people don't like to break mirrors, but it's not like that's their religion. Doesn't mean anything.

I love how all the "What religion are you?" polls put Christians into one big catagory. There is a BIG differance between the Roman Catholic (me), Baptist and Morman faiths yet they are all Christians.

But there is an even bigger difference between shi-ite muslims and sunni muslims, and that isn't being reffered to here.

Wicca is certainly a religion. Whether you are talking about the ancient Celtic polytheistic faith, that believes in the Dagda and others or the neo pagan faith that I believe centers more around the Earth as a mother goddess. It is either polytheistic or pantheistic and can hardly qualify as a superstition.

It even has its own set of religious literature in the Celtic sagas with the Queen Maeve and Cucuhilan (?sp). If its your thing go for it s.xkitten!

goddamit, it's no fun arguing something you don't believe in if you're been confronted by calm logical statements instead of angry bitching like I expected. I give up.

I was lying.

I'm rather a fan of religious freedom, and I believe wicca is as much of a religion as any other religion. I kinda hoped to draw criticism onto all religions by doing this, but oh well. Anyway I'm a bit disappointed no one tried to call my bluff, apparently I haven't left a strong enough impression of my personality yet.

Oh well, carry on.

there's a great deal of dispute about what exactly the religion is all about, but its the closest thing to what I feel inside about "god" and this world.
also, in a much more practicing way,

oh don't fret man, there are hundreds of thousands of different "religions out there, and they mainly centre around disagreeing with one another. you really opened a big 'ol can o' worms with this thread dude.
gotta hand it to ya'!,
I don't really have the stomach to talk to people about there religion unless its online. to much hate involved. or anger, or something. I don't know what it is about the topic, It should bring us together, but it just makes us hate and kill each other.

Interesting choice of religion. I'm probably way off, but isn't it the doctrine that Christ was not human at all, but purely divine? It seems, from what I have heard, to advocate learning over faith? Salvation can be attained through enlightenment?

Having never met anyone who professed your religion, I am curious and would like to know your views.

supposedly yeah, they say he wasn't human. I'm not sure how I feel on that topic, but I do believe Jesus was good and pure, and often ask myself what he would do. Researching Jesus has been made difficult by the churches lies about him, as a great deal of history has been re-written by it ( in my opinion ) so truth about Jesus is hard to find and even harder to recognize when found.
the core of My belief "system" is to do well as a person, as in affecting the world around my in a good way (same as every other religion I guess) except that it involves not killing anything (I'm trying to be vegan) not breeding because we humans are evil and do nothing good for any race aside for ourselves, and basically rejecting any organized religion or setting myself in my ways, just always looking for new ways to improve myself until I reach a point that I will no longer be reincarnated in this hell we call reality. edited for sake of honesty!

That's the idea behind buddhism - you do not need direct belief to ascend to nirvana.

I don't have a religon because religon just creates further hatred and destruction between people, but i believe that everything happens for a reason, there must be balance in the world and when group of people become to strong they will eventually weaken ( for any terrorists reading this all you have to do is wait for nature to weaken the US and any other coastal nation) So the world is constantly changing and all you can do is change with it
