And trigonometric substitutions into integrals. I'm not allowed to use my calculator in this class so I actually have to start paying attention in Calc 2.
Trig subs are really easy, you just have to remember which one to use. In my class last semester all our tests were open book, so I dog-eared the page with the chart. It pretty much just comes down to simplifying the x^2+/-a^2 or a^2-x^2 under the square root to a^2(trig function)^2, which cancels out to just a*trig function, multiplied by the d/dx of your substitution of course. But there isn't a simpler way that I know of, that way is pretty short anyway.

Centroids? I've never even heard of that word! And there isn't a lazy way to to PFDs except just to skip a few steps. Like, once I am able to get the denominator of the rational number into its irreducible form, I just go automatically into (denominator)=A(shit)+B(f*ck). PFDs are ridiculously simple to check though (just add the fractions...). Trig sub was actually the hardest part of Calc II for me because I skipped all of those classes...haha. The main thing is to make sure, like TG said, to substitute your d/dx and shit for theta and whatnot. It's kind of a bitch.

My calc class is engineering based and so the 'centroids' I guess could also be called the center of mass or center of momentum.

aren't those the curves you get if you rolled a circle on a line?

That is a cycloid you are thinking of.
Anyways, Victor if I could join that would be awesome. My specialties are Set Theory and Statistical Theory, so if you are looking for applied math help, you need to ask someone else.

I was once an Ace on math, better than everybody here including AoG and VS. I got a medal on 1st place in math in the whole state. So if you need help ask me. Wait, I had too many beers in my early 20s, i forgot it all.

He is buried with the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem.
That is all that will be said on this matter.

A lot of people might not be aware of this awesome usergroup so I'm bumping this. Come join even if you only have a passing interest in mathematics.

It might be faster if you add yourself. Just go to Control Panel -> usergroups, select the radio button and then scroll to the bottom and click join.
