That was just a plain spelling mistake. Getting the wrong there/their/they're is just ignorant.

Hehe, I could rather care less, everyone knew what you were saying, so that's all that matters. You're better than a lot of people when it comes to clarity in language.

Correcting High's spelling errors is a big fat waste of time... He makes at least one in every post containing more than 4 words. :P

And even though I'm a Spelling Nazi, I don't mind it so much anymore... It is the internet, after all...

Does that mean you get your own office? Push for one of those....then you can lock the door and play CC! Or at least push up some sort of furniture in front of the door....

Politcs Debate!!!! NOT FOR THE EASILY OFFENDED!

Post by jay_a2j »

OK.... lets get to it ( and I know I'm gonna get both barrels)

Reasons why I am a Republican........

1. Trickle down ecconomics works... giving money to the poor never helped anyone (outside of the person receiving it) Whereas letting the rich keep some of their money creates jobs.

2. They are the defenders of life (I know its not accoss the board but the majority are pro-life) I believe the value of human life far outweighs that of the spotted owl.

3. I do not believe in "global warming". Valcanoes have been erupting since the creation (or evolution- tring to be fair here) of the planet, which spew an enormous amount of toxins and pollutants into the air. We humans could not destroy the ozone any more than we can create it.

4. The Democrats have created all these social programs that are designed to KEEP the poor.... poor. If the poor started to do well...they might become republicans... ( I work with one....he told me, "when I didn't have... I was a democrat.... but when I started making money and realized all the taxes they were taxing out... I became a republican"

5. An elephant is a much better political symbol then a donkey. ( this one's a joke.... calm down)

If you would like to debate any of these issues (or any others) feel free to post!!!! Lets try to keep it sophisticated please.

I've never commented on these forums before, but... You CANNOT be serious. Really, you can't.

Maybe your intended target group for this was Americans, so I won't comment on the politics & economics, what with being a Limey an all, but FFS your comments on global warming are... I'm speechless.

What on Earth... I mean, what significant effect do volcanoes & the ozone layer have on global warming? You almost give the impression that the ozone layer & volcanoes are important in global warming!? I mean, really, for goodness sake, you need to look up a few things before you say things like that.

The left ( here in the USA) say that emmisions from cars (SUV's are their favorites) is one of the reasons for the depletion of the ozone. That along with hairspray (good thing the 80's are over), factory pollution, and other man made hazzards. This is obsurd (in my oppinion) for the mere fact that volcanoes pollute far more than these things.

BOTH sides are wrong

YES we DO contribute to global warming and we should take care of our planet.

YES, global warming is part of the cycle of the planet. Volcanoes, etc.

NO...we SHOULD give to the workers that bust their ass to make the rich richer. GREED is an ENORMOUS problem in the world.

NO...BOTH sides are defenders of life.

YES, an elephant is a much better political symbol than a donkey.

I think there should be a THIRD party and the symbol should be a gecko.

But you refer to the destruction of the ozone layer. Largely (with one qualification I won't go into...time & space) the ozone layer isn't a real problem anymore, and anyway, never contributed to global warming - it's just that it's destruction dangerously raised the amount of UV light that could reach the Earth's surface, as I understand.

As I understand it, increased global warming itself is mainly caused by artificially increasing proportions of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is pumped into the atmosphere by most processes we use to get energy, eg burning coal, petrol, gas and other fossil fuels.

At current rates, we endanger the fate of billions of people, through rising sea
levels, more erratic climate conditions and so on and so forth.

Not even BP, Shell, Exxon or any oil company disputes this anymore... so why keep arguing about it?

I agree.

There should be a GEICO party. It would be MUCH BETTER than the typical Liberal and Republican balloyhoo
