I started playing sporadically last year. I will be the first to admit that I am absolutely terrible, but I sure have a good time being crappy at it.
everybody is doing it

Re: Disc golf
A scout just put in a course on a local park for his Eagle project. I have never played either disc golf or ultimate despite having pretty much seen Ultimate's origination and rise. Plan to take our den out to learn. They can get an award (belt loop and pin) through cub scouts for playing. Its up there right along with bike riding, basketball... even marbles.

I've been playing for three years now. I play pro par only, which is par three on every hole. I lean steadily towards favoring Discraft, though I throw Innova discs for sidearm. I've tried most of the other brands, though Innova and Discraft are the best. I cannot believe anyone favors Ching. Lighting Discs is a pretty cool company with their recycling program though.
Anyway, my bag, in case you are curious.
I throw a Discraft Magnet for my putter. It's a stability 0, and I have been thinking for a little while that I should try something else. Maybe a Dart or Challenger? Still though, the Magnet is a trustworthy straight putter. I just putt on a little bit of a hyzer is all.
For Drivers I use mainly Discraft Avengers. Both the standard and SS versions. I keep three in my bag. I also have a single 150g Innova Boss, an Innova TeeBird (167g) for skip shots, A beat-in Discraft XL (174g), a heavy Discraft Crush for headwind shots(175+g), a 169g Innova Destroyer for long an-hyzer shots, a 171 Destroyer for the same, and a 171 TeeRex for long sidearm shots.
I stick mainly with the Discraft Buzzz for my midrange, though occasionally I also use a Discraft Comet for tunnel shots an slight hyzers/anyzers.
I have thrown a lot of discs. I just bought a Discraft Flick for tomahawk shots, but its such a shallow disc I have a hard time gripping it.
Now that I am finally good enough that I don't lose a disc every time I play, I afford myself to buy better discs. It also helps that I finally know what I like. I rarely buy Pro D/DX plastic discs because I can't grip them very well. I stick with Star/ESP plastic. Though I also like Pro/Elite X.

This guy (Joel Kelly) does some amazing dye jobs. He doesn't even know I have several from him. He can do anything with a disc. His site does not do his work any justice.
I also buy dyes from mad dog at sky south. http://stores.ebay.com/Skysouth-Disc-Golf-Store
I like to throw dyes, and I like to give them as gifts to disc golfers.

Re: Disc golf
I have yet to ever lose a disc, that much at least I can say. I currently only have one long range driver and one putter, both mid-quality Innova discs. Have not yet spent the money on a mid-range, as I suck enough for it to not matter
.
I currently average about 5 shots per hole. I sometimes manage to sink it in 4, and I don't think I have ever managed just 3.
My putting is fairly decent, I can manage to make some fairly long putts from time to time. My driving is not so good, though - horrible wobble on release that I can't seem to get rid of.

Re: Disc golf

Ok, everybody, LISTEN UP!
The OFFICIAL mandatory Conquer Club fora users meeting will be held the SECOND WEEKEND of MAY 2011 in Dubuque, Iowa. The location will be Veteran's Disc Golf Park, and PR's apartment kinda. All of you are expected to be there. I will be wearing a Grey shirt that says "Juan Bottom" on the back so you will recognize me.
You do not need your own disc golfing equipment or experience, we all have plenty to share and it's all about having fun. Please let Cali know if you need a ride.*
There will be food, beer, games, and fabulous DISC GOLF prizes!** But don't touch Cali's beer.
You're welcome to crash for the night.
IF YOU NEED AN excuse form, you can get them from me on the second Tuesday of the month, unless there's a weather or terrorism advisory, in which case you can get them the third Friday after practice. Those who do not attend and do not turn in an excuse form will be banned like a pimp.
*she will teach you how to rent a car, idiot.
**if I decide to

Ignore the bit about getting out of this. This is a copy paste from a while back. It's the 14th of May, so clear your calendar. You're looking at about 10 people in attendance right now.

Re: Disc golf
It's because Australian's play Boomerang Golf? Either you get a hole-in-one or you run for your life.
Re: Disc golf
I FUCKING LOVE DISC GOLF!
I'll get a chance to play again tomorrow finally since August.
I only have 2 discs, an avenger driver and a hard plastic putter (not sure on the name right now).

its also just fun to play a round after work.

About half of DBC and some college girl's choir from Dubuque will all be there.
And it's only 3 hours!!!! I'm going and it's like an hour for me by car. And I can't even drive!!!

How do you not know what you putt with?! lol! And you only have to remember 2 discs!
Me? my main discs are my Avenger, Buzz, and Magnet.
I did a head count when I got my equipment out. I have 68 discs altogether, but 12 of them are unthrown. About 25 more have been thrown less than 10 times.

lol,... with who? You should start a thread...

Agreed! I've been a few places and had a hard time finding their Disc Golf course though.

I have 1 ace, and [player]packrat31306[/player] (who will be there) has 3!!!! One of them he got at the course that we will be playing. When I hit mine I didn't know what to do. Everyone started yelling at once. I ripped my shirt off and started running. Oh! I was so happy.
We should be at Veteran's Park at around 9:00AM. After Lunch, we will consider playing on another course 20 minutes away. I think it just depends on how fast we play and who will be leaving. I'm not sure I want to drag a girl's choir around all day. Last time we did this we had a group of 9 and played 7 rounds on the same course.
Re: Disc golf
I haven't played in months, and my discs were at home, so I hadn't looked at them at all

Re: Disc golf
Well guys, the "CC Disc Golf in Dubuque" event is this Saturday. And I couldn't be more disappointed in CC right now. There are so few of us that have confirmed.
Confirmed
[player]Juan_Bottom[/player]
[player]Calidrmr[/player]
[player]slim1[/player]
[player]Packrat31306[/player]
[player]maasman[/player]
[player]john9blue[/player]
And a few other inactive players.
Then there's about 10 or so that don't play here because they are too dumb.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and that slutty and naive all-Girl's Choir.
Backed out for some vagina reasons
[player]ephisia[/player]
[player]MaleAlphaThree[/player]
A "CC in the Woods" camping trip is in the works too. More details on that as we settle them.
