Ok, I'll see what I can do if other singles enter.
Really need the final 4 teams, though. Will try to recruit a little more actively to see who I can round up.

Re: Initech XXV: Olympic Games [15/16 Quads+]
Awesome. One more team and we'll be ready to go.
Since we are so close to beginning, I want to post a little something about alternates. This tournament could take a LONG time and even some of the most dedicated members of the site sometimes disappear, so I want there to be a clear policy regarding alternates.
1) If either of the team competitions is still running, the team that loses a player will be allowed to choose their own alternate. However, that player must enter the entire tournament. If the deadbeat player is alive in any of the single events, the alternate replaces the deadbeat in those competitions. The alternate will be eligible for all medals, including the overall tournament medal (any games completed by the deadbeat would count toward the alternates overall score).
2) If both the Quads and Doubles portions of the event are completed, an alternate will be selected from someone in this thread who posted as a single or solicited at large in the tournament forum. The alternate will be ineligible for the overall tournament medal (as they will have missed 2/5s of the tournament) but will be eligible for the general achievement medals in the singles events.
Also, a quite note on the order of events.
I will send the Quads games first, followed by the Doubles games, then the Standard games, then Assassin, then Terminator. All 5 Disciplines will be running at once, but I will never go more than one round ahead of where we are supposed to be within a Discipline. So if two teams are ready to play the 3rd round of the Quads tourney, but we still have a match playing from the 1st round, I will wait to send those games. That's strictly for organizational purposes and to try to keep everything streamlined.

Ok. All Quads and Standard games are sent. I'm going to give it through the weekend to make sure all of those get joined. If you're captain of your team and a Quads invite expires, please try to help me out and re-invite the correct person.
Will send Doubles and Assassin games in a couple days. Terminator to follow.

Ok. All Doubles games are sent now. That's 512 invitations out the door! Only 320 more to go...
Terminator games are created, but I'm going to be sending those periodically over the next few days.

Re: Initech XXV: Olympic Games [16/16 Quads; 64/64]
So the tournament is off and running very well. Looks like we'll even be ready for the second round of the the Assassin section soon.
The scoreboards have been formatted in the third post of this thread if anyone wants to take a look. General policies for updates are as follows:
1. Your score in each discipline will not be posted until you are eliminated from that discipline.
2. A discipline coefficient will immediately be entered in the overall leaderboard once it is posted.
3. The adjustments (medal bonuses and early elimination deductions) will be posted as they occur.
In short, it's going to be impossible to have a true running leaderboard. Once a couple of the disciplines are finished, we'll have a good idea of who is near the top. But given the nature of the tournament and the math involved, we won't have a good handle on who is winning until right near the end.

Re: Initech XXV: Olympic Games [16/16 Quads; 64/64]
As we enter the second round, there has been some questions about teammates playing each other in the individual games, particularly assassin.
To start, I'd urge everyone to carefully read the first post of this thread. Although you had to enter as a Quads team and 2/5 of the tournament will have team games, there will be only one individual winner of the tournament. Because of that, there's really no point in helping a teammate in an individual game (with the possible rare exception in terminator, where more than one player can advance). Simply put, if you help your teammate in an individual game, you are hurting your own chances. As such, I didn't think the issue of teammates facing each other would be a problem.
But since the question has been raised, I'll make this clear. Site rules apply. Which means no secret diplomacy, even between players who might be teammates in Quads or Doubles. Anything else is fair game.
Let me know if anyone has further questions on this.

Re: Initech XXV: Olympic Games [16/16 Quads; 64/64]
To keep this thread near the top of the forum and to just be a generally attentive organizer, I'm going to post periodic updates of where we are in each discipline. If you have any questions, please post them here:
QUADS - No series complete in the first round. Rail Africa games taking the longest, as would be expected.
DOUBLES - Most (11/16) first rounds series are complete and some of the matchups for the second round are posted. Invites will be sent once all 16 series are finished.
STANDARD - Almost all (14/16) first round games are complete on the Greater China map. The second round Japan games are created and invites are sent to all but the 8 players who are still playing the first round. These games should be ready to go soon.
ASSASSIN - All but one of the first round games are complete on the Greenland map. Most of the second round games on the Haiti map have started. A couple are just waiting for the final four players from the first round.
TERMINATOR - Many of the Luxembourg and Cyprus maps are complete, but it will be awhile until the first round is finished.

Re: Initech XXV: Olympic Games [16/16 Quads; 64/64]
Update...
QUADS - Some of the series have been determined and some of the Round 2 matchups are set. Still going to take at least a few days to get everything sorted in the first round, though.
DOUBLES - 14/16 first round series are determined and I've started all but 4 of the second round matches.
STANDARD - Still waiting on 2 of the Greater China games to conclude (Match 5 and Match 10). Neither of them appear to be deadlocked, so we might just be a few days away from starting the remaining Japan games in Round 2.
ASSASSIN - First round is totally complete and all Haiti games should be moving forward. Third round will be on the Canada map.
TERMINATOR - The scoreboard for the first round is updated. We're probably about halfway through. Macedonia maps are taking the longest.
