its not! you just gotta look really closely  ...twin peaks as well as the mountains at the top of the map are in true-to-satellite color...theres just not a lot of color in a city from above. unless its a park its a lot of black/white buildings and pavement.
I'm still troubled by the ferry link to Hunter's Point
ive looked some more, and I agree.i think im going to send it back to china basin.
some of you are sending johloh mixed messages:
yeah im getting kind of tired of it. some people ask for one thing, I do it, and then 10 people come back and say that it is a terrible idea.
Another HUGE reason why it keeps coming up is because those commenting on it here in the 11th hour ARENT READING THE THREAD!
i agree

and I also hope that everyone knows that I am trying to bring in all the suggestions and criticisms...however it is simply impossible to please everyone because when people have completely opposite opinions, you have to choose one.

Actually, this is the way he'll have to code it into the XML. He basically has to make 6 entirely new regions all worth +1, I do not believe there is a way to cancel the second bonus if you are already getting one of them. The game will automatically count a successfully held region for each one and grant you +1 per "region."
this point is important. the only way to make alcatraz a "+1 if another continent is held" is to make it a "+1 for EACH continent held" good point samus! so we need to debate '+1 for EACH continent held' or just +1.

I would say +1 for each region is fine. If you're already holding 2 regions, an extra +2 instead of +1 just doesn't strike me as some huge game swaying imbalance. How often do people hold more than 1 region anyway? I would assume the vast majority of the time it would just end up being +1.

So, I've put a lot of thought into the wheel thing, and the only thing I can think to combat that is to attach Treasure Island to Angel Island and Refineries. This would mean the Emeryville-->Alcatraz connection would overlap these new connections. So we could either:

A. Let it slide and just have them overlap. I honestly don't think it will be confusing, it just might look bad.

B. Remove the Emeryville-->Alcatraz connection, leaving only 2 paths to Alcatraz.

C. Move the Emeryville-->Alcatraz connection to be Treasure Island-->Alcatraz.

Move vote would be for option C, it makes Alcatraz much more accessible from the rest of the map.

I think you should make the area in between Marin, S.Sanfran, and downtown a territory and combine the continent bonus with alcatraz (maybe raise it to +2?).

+1 for each region is fine with me.

I say you decide on the Alcatraz (attack routes) and treat it as closed from now on. If people throw their two cents in at this points they're too late as the arguments have been exhausted on all sides.

Maybe a list of closed topics regarding this map might be nice since people keep making suggestions that were already made and argued over months ago. By simply closing these issues, it might help to get this map to move forward and get quenched.

I feel that this map is one of the best maps on CC as is and can't wait to play it. Let's get this quenched people.

ah, but people would have to read the thread to figure out whats closed...ive got a list of closed topics in my head...I guess its not actually bad to still have people throw in their opinions...I just cant try and change the map for each persons opinion (when they contradict eachother)
ill have an update in a bit here...

-shrunk army circles (example # in 'pacific heights')
-cleaned up more pixelation in oakland/alameda along water
-removed alameda-->hunters point ferry
-added alameda-->china basin (its the real ferry route)

questions...
-ferry routes...
-should downtown be a +8 now?

to address your points samus...

the only thing I can think to combat that is to attach Treasure Island to Angel Island and Refineries.
that is one way...im just not sure that a sort of wheel like structure is terrible...everyone doesnt need to be able to attack everyone else...I need to put some more thought into this...im not sure how to fix this, or if it even needs to be...
B. Remove the Emeryville-->Alcatraz connection, leaving only 2 paths to Alcatraz.
this would basically give alcatraz to whoever held marin. downtown is going to be taken later in the game, and whoever gets marin would basically always get alatraz...
C. Move the Emeryville-->Alcatraz connection to be Treasure Island-->Alcatraz.
gives downtown two connections, and lets downtown attack alcatraz from its border country, which allows downtown to stack up armies for defense, and also use them for alcatraz....not what is intended...we want alcatraz to be a sacrifice to get.

i think oakland and the avenues bonus needs looking at. They both share have a bonus of 4 but oakland has 1 more territory and 1 more border

Oakland 7 territories 4 borders

Avenues 6 territores 3 borders

-'The Avenues' bonus down to +3
-'Downtown' bonus up to +8
-changed order of bonuses in legend
-Added description of Alcatraz Bonus

I'm going to finish up the XML and post it in a few minutes...with an army image.

The description next to alcatraz seems a little unclear; OOther than that it's great.
