carlpgoodrich wrote:Ya, I agree with Natty. There are a ton of little details in this map that baseball junkies will like. No need to confuse non-baseball people.

This is precisely why I feel my suggestion is better than MarshallNey's. A name for a ball that indicates its position on the field informs the player and enhances gameplay. Granted, some of the terms may not be very indicative (like pop up or bunt), but they are better than single/double/triple, which may start non-baseball-oriented players wondering about multiplying factors on bonuses. My primary concern is that "Ball 3" does not tell me where the territory is as well as the name "Ball 3 - Left Center" does.

natty_dread wrote:On that note, did we ever decide if we should add the number 42 somewhere on the map or not? I think somewhere along the way that detail was forgotten with all the hubbub about backgrounds and stuff that ended up not being used...

Doesn't look like there's anywhere to put it, really.

I don't think that's really a problem. If you can count to 9, you can find the right ball (and even if you can't you have a shot).

So this should hopefully be rolling out right around the start of Baseball season. Pretty good timing considering I started the map last July.

Yeah! Can't wait to play this :)

Evil d... it's been really fun working on this map. It has given me the chance to do something completely different than what I would normally do within the bounds of mapmaking, which has been both challenging and fun. So thanks for giving me the chance to work on this! ;)

          Beta - Quenching

---The Final Forge period has concluded for the Baseball: King of Diamonds Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Beta Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!

              Image

While the map is in BETA Play, there are a couple of administrative tasks that are required of the mapmaker(s) in addition to the initial gameplay testing:
    1. Please ensure that the first post of the thread contains all the necessary information to help future visitors to the development thread; it's particularly important to ensure the most recent images are there, along with any helpful guides (such as gameplay quirks/nuances or the location/size of any starting neutrals etc.)
    2. Please update the Map Information Portal with details of your map
    3. Finally, it is the responsibility of the mapmaker(s) to ensure that they respond to further feedback in a timely and constructive manner.

Surely you know that nobody puts Babe in the corner.

I think they would do good to stand out some more. Are kinda hard to find. Maybe make the number themselves a bit darker?

Nothing better than getting stuck in the two homerun balls. Stupid map.

Tons of maps have places where you can get "stuck." That being said, a losing condition might be a good idea.

Losing condition would be good for singles games, but in team games, you can still contribute to your team by deploying on them even if you're stuck yourself... :-k
