Number of Players: 56
Game Type: 1v1 (possible 3-8 singles in Playoff Games)
Format: Round Robin + Single Elimination (best of 7)
Games Guaranteed to Each Player: 21
Number of Divisions: 7 (8 players in each)
Seeding: Performance-Based
Time Allowed to Join Games: 72 Hours
The general tournament format is that all 56 players will play every other opponent in their division once (known as "round-robin), so that's 7 games for each player (each division has 8 players). Then players will be able to switch divisions (if they want to) after I send a simultaneous PM to them, first come first serve on who gets in. Then, after more round-robin play (another 7 games for each player), players will be able to switch again (as before), and they will play 7 more games (round-robin).
So then 32 of the 56 players will advance and be seeded according to their number of wins, if there's a tie: by score they have when they joined. The format then is simple single elimination (but best of 7), which is great because anyone can advance: there could be some great upsets, so all players have to be in top form.
All this is explained below, I hope you at least skim it because the above is a super quick run-through. Thanks a lot.
ALL tournament games will have be played with the following settings. The map shall vary between games.
2 Players (with the exception of particular "Playoff" games)
Standard Game Type
Automatic Initial Troops
Sequential Play Order
Escalating Spoils
Chained Reinforcements
No fog of war
Casual Round Length
All players will choose one of the seven divisions to join; there is one division for each of the seven maps. Each division has eight players.

Time to Switch Things Up---Selection of Divisions I (Stage 2)
Players will have the opportunity to switch divisions, if they would like to, according to the procedure:
*Don't have to read all this: just the colored, bold and italicized and underlined and large-sized font I ask that you read, please.
The format has changed from what it was at the start of the tournament; I've decided it would be better to have player post their divisions on the tournament page, that way all the players can see exactly when players join divisions, and so that any same-time posts would be ranked exactly according to the CC posting system to reduce possible controversy with the organizer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Following the conclusion of the last game of this Stage, and all divisions have finished Stage II play, the tournament organizer shall post a message on the tournament page, stating the date and time when the Selection of Divisions I and II shall take place. It is likely that the Selection will take place on a Saturday.
At this point, the organizer highly suggests players should think of the order of divisions they would like, listing them in order of preference (even if they want to remain in the same division). The first division they write is the division they would most prefer to play in; the division they write last would be the division they would least prefer to play in. - Once the approved time for the beginning of the Selection of Divisions arrives, the organizer shall send a private message to all players simultaneously, providing them with a link to the tournament page, where players will directly post their list of preferred divisions that they had already formulated. The organizer will not accept any lists via a private message. The lists must be made public on the tournament page.
- The tournament organizer will not select a division, as to eliminate the advantage he has. He will instead take the divisional slot that is open after all other 55 players join a division.
- The tournament organizer will then begin with the first player that posted their list on the tournament page, and place them into the first division name that they wrote down. The organizer will then move to the second player that posted their list on the tournament page, and then the third player, etc.
- If, at any time, a player's first division name that they wrote down in their list is full, the tournament organizer will place them into the division name that they wrote second. If that division is full, the organizer will place them into the name of the division that they wrote third, etc.
- If a player fails to post a list (much to the disliking of the organizer) and instead just writes one division, the organizer will accept the post and place that player into the division they wrote down; however, if the name of the division that the player wrote down is full, then the organizer will respond via a private message, asking for their list of preferred divisions, thus delaying the time for the player to join a division.
This system is subject to change.
Play will then continue in the same way, with each player guaranteed another seven games, one game against each opponent in their division. Standings from this portion of divisional play shall be added to the initial standings from after the first 14 games.
When a player joins a particular division, they are randomly placed into one of the 8 divisional slots, numbered 1 through 8, irrespective of when they joined. The player has the same number throughout all seven rounds, and the players will be matched up in the following format:

Therefore, after divisional play, all players will have played either:

- 14 games in one division (on one map), 7 games in a second division (on another map)
- 7 games in one division (on one map), 7 games in a second division (on a second map), and 7 games in a third division (on a third map).
Throughout the first 3 stages, players will be ranked by number of wins, with the player having the most number of wins ranked highest, and the player with the fewest number of wins ranked lowest. The divisions will not all be playing at the same pace; as a result, if player(s) have the same number of wins, they will be ranked by number of losses, with the player(s) having less losses ranked higher than the player(s) having more losses. If players have both the same number of wins and the same number of losses, they shall be ranked according the Score Upon Joining. The player(s) having the higher Score Upon Joining will be ranked higher than the player(s) having the lower Score Upon joining.
*Standings will be updated regularly throughout the tournament.
The Elimination Stage
Round 1--The Round of 32
The 32 players of the 56 players with the most wins shall advance into the Elimination Stage. The remaining players are eliminated from the Cup.
*If multiple players have the same number of wins following the end of all 21 games, and have not been guaranteed a spot in the Elimination round, those players shall play an additional game (a "Playoff" game) on the Classic map with the universal settings. The number of spots available in the elimination round that are in question shall correspond to the number of players advancing from the game. So, for example, if three players are tied for seed #32, then those players shall play in a three player game, with the winner attaining the #32 seed.
The 32 players shall then be "seeded" (ranked) from #1 to #32, with #1 having the most number of wins, and #32 having the fewest number of wins.
*If players that have already been guaranteed advancement into the Elimination stage have the same number of wins, they shall be ranked according to their score when they joined the tournament, with the player(s) having the higher score(s) attaining the better seed(s), and the player(s) having the lower score(s) attaining the worse seed(s).
The 32 players in this round shall be matched up into pairs of 2 and will play a series of 7, 1v1 games, according to the following format:
#1 seed vs. #32 seed
#2 seed vs. #31 seed
#3 seed vs. #30 seed
#4 seed vs. #29 seed
#5 seed vs. #28 seed
#6 seed vs. #27 seed
#7 seed vs. #26 seed
#8 seed vs. #25 seed
#9 seed vs. #24 seed
#10 seed vs. #23 seed
#11 seed vs. #22 seed
#12 seed vs. #21 seed
#13 seed vs. #20 seed
#14 seed vs. #19 seed
#15 seed vs. #18 seed
#16 seed vs. #17 seed
- The Tide of War Factor
The winner of game 1 shall select the map for game 2. The winner of game 2 shall select the map for game 3. The winner of game 3 shall select the map for game 4, etc. (Thus, players that are on winning streaks are provided a bonus, regardless of their seed; as long as you win, you will select the map on the next game.)
Maps shall not repeat during the series: therefore, if 7 games are played, each of the 7 maps in the tournament will be used.
The first player, in each series, to win 4 games will advance. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 16 players advance, and 16 are eliminated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Round 2--The Round of 16
The 16 players in this round shall be matched up into pairs of 2 and play in a series of 7, 1v1 games, according to seeds, with the best seed playing the worst seed, and the next best seed playing the next worst seed, etc.
The maps shall be selected according to the aforementioned Tide of War Factor.
The first player, in each series, to win 4 games will advance. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 8 players advance, and 8 are eliminated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Round 3--The Quarterfinals
The 8 players in this round shall be matched up into pairs of 2 and play in a series of 7, 1v1 games, according to seeds, with the best seed playing the worst seed, and the next best seed playing the next worst seed, etc.
The maps shall be selected according to the aforementioned Tide of War Factor.
The first player, in each series, to win 4 games will advance. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 4 players advance, and 4 are eliminated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Round 4--The Semifinals
The 4 players in this round shall be matched up into pairs of 2 and play in a series of 7, 1v1 games, according to seeds, with the best seed playing the worst seed, and the next best seed playing the next worst seed, etc.
The maps shall be selected according to the aforementioned Tide of War Factor.
The first player, in each series, to win 4 games will advance. The loser of each series is eliminated from the tournament. Thus, 2 players advance, and 2 are eliminated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Cup Championship
The last 2 players in the Cup shall play in a series of 7, 1v1 games.
The maps shall be selected according to the aforementioned Tide of War Factor.
The first player to win 4 games is the winner of the tournament!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am very lenient when it comes to the reserves policy; I will allow players 72 hours to join any games in the Round-Robin stages, but if you contact me we may be able to extend that time; I wouldn't want to knock a player out after playing a dozen games, especially if its only the first time they miss a game. But, if the time delay becomes excessive, I will replace the inactive player with a reserve. The tournament organizer has full judgment with regard to the Reserves Policy.
However, in the Elimination stage, the stakes are higher, and it is expected that you take the stage more seriously, so I will enforce that players join within 72 hours, or the player's opponent will be credited with a win. The player is not removed from the Cup, however.
Thank you so much, have a great day,
James
