LoneStranger wrote:Is there any way we can get the default GreaseMonkey 'Included' page pattern to contain the "game.php" string? I find that it helps navigation on the rest of the site if BOB doesn't have to bother to find out if it's on a game page or not every page load. It can really make a difference if there are a couple other scripts also in use throughout the site. I manually add that to the string after every upgrade, but it would be nice to have it as the default.
Thanks, LoneStranger
BOB does do some things on forum pages as well. Check out the Site Options button on the page you are reading right now. However, your suggestion does raise the question: do these functions really belong together in one script, or should there be a Game BOB and a Forum BOB?

The problem is that a chat line has a character limit and encoding all the territories on these big maps takes too much space.
I will merge this into the BOB topic so sherkaner will see this, plus my suggestion below:
Sherkaner, would it be possible to create a chat snapshot format that can be split over two or more chat lines, so larger maps could be handled? Would there be an issue with trying to post multiple chat lines in quick succession?
Too much? Which game is that? Nuclear would explain too little afaik.
Too little, shows 12 in normal stats. Already forgotten the game, maybe I can find it again. Game 8276233 It showed at the beginning of the turn, it's okay at 14/14 now tho...
which should be 13. As soon as I hit 'Begin Turn' it changed to

I presume an issue with Castle Lands?
I also have this problem and thought that I reported it a while ago. I've had it since 5.10 was released months ago. I haven't paid attention recently as to whether it still exists, as I had just given up hope of it being resolved and started reloading the entire page whenever I needed accurate results. This problem only exists during fog games and it seems to do with it not counting the regions that either you capture from other people or other people capture from you... something like that, it's been a while since I've paid attention and I was never able to fully figure it out. What I can say is that all four computers in my house had this same problem, so I always thought it was a problem with BOB and I've always been very surprised that nobody else has had this problem.
On another note, I don't know if it's been fixed in 5.1.4 (haven't updated yet as I always give it 2-3 weeks for the potential bugs to be resolved before upgrading), but whenever I select 'Load entire chat', the snapshots in chat don't convert to links. I also have to reload the page in order for the snapshots to be converted to links.

As far as I have seen, the chat snapshots are working properly in 5.1.4.
My browser just had a Greasemonkey update and now BOB is not refreshing after each move on the map. It only refreshes after an F5 refresh.
Furthermore, I guess the bug about loading the entire chat log and it no longer showing the rounds people were eliminated in won't be getting fixed? It was reported a couple of months ago.

The first point sounds something similar to what I've been experiencing for months. I believe the problem is still going on, but need to see it a few more times to be sure.
Something is up with my colour dropdown after greasemonkey update. When I go to begin my game, my drop down is not coloured nor are the troop counts showing up beside the tert names in the drop down menu.
Time to retire this much loved sig of mine with a new clan.
Apparently upgrading to the Firefox 4.0 beta MAY fix this problem. It solved a problem with a different greasemonkey script that was broke after the upgrade. (Found that info online, not first hand experience)
Just installed the beta and I'm able to confirm that BOB appears to be fully functional under FF 4.0 beta 9. My recommendation is to install the beta in a different directory. It will pick up all your plugins/addons/bookmarks so there's no importing to do. Then when 4.0 is finally released it will be easy to remove it.
5.1.4 has been killed by the Greasemonkey update here. I have a stack of plugins but they are all content display related and nothing recently new. I have oldbar and a number of java console extensions but that's it.
Depressing to realise how much Bob helps me and what I now have ot make up for. The real problem is that occasionally I forget it's not updating and misread the stats accordingly!
While the Greasemonkey update is certainly what broke BOB, I don't know that it's entirely to blame. The exact same code under Firefox 4 beta 9 works perfectly fine. So it's some combination of FF 3.x and GM update.
beta 9 of FF 4 is pretty quick, well worth taking the bit of time upgrade. There are some addons that "aren't compatible" but that's usually just a matter of going into the .xpi and modifying the max version. (ConquerTell being one of those addons)
I've tried Greaseonkey 0.9.1 and 0.8.20100408.6, and in my games it gets hung up on "Initializing Bob", and the message just stays there and will not go to the game. This only happens in games that I have snapshots in. Once I take a snapshot, and try to re-enter the game, the "Initializing Bob" starts up and does not go away.
ender516 wrote:Just to clarify: are those snapshots in chat, or the other kind?
The other kind. I tested it on a game without any snapshots yet taken (no issues with BOB in those), took a snapshot, and then that game would have the same issue start.
With a lot of my games being foggy, it's certainly annoying to lose the functions of BOB.
The Bison King wrote:I can't get it to install. When greasemon key pops up the only button that does anything is cancel. Click install just does... nothing.
The install button will often be greyed out with a countdown of 3 or so. Make sure the install button is active before clicking. See if that helps
