Re: Map in honor of Vauban
i hope it's not too late to suggest this, but you could always put a cap on the number of players able to play a map (feudal war war has 6 maximum). you could have 2 players, one attacker and one defender. the attacker could start with a concentrated force and multiple attack options and the defender could get a bombardment advantage. this way you could effectively portray a siege. maybe an objective can be to hold the central camp and 'throne room', so both players should have a reachable objective.
using this you can still incorporate your current draft.

Re: Fort of France(Vauban) -> V2
While limiting the number of players IS possible, it has only been allowed in very exceptional cases where A: 8 players cannot be supported due to size issues, and B: the concept is something new and original. Feudal War and all of the Age of Realms maps were either made before the 8 player maximum existed or as a direct grandfather (AoR 3). R&C is the only one I know of that has gotten an exception since 8 players became max.

thanks for pointing that out, yet i liked the idea of a 2-player stronghold. Nevermind, I'll focus on the 4-side attack as menshioned by Pamoa,
cheers

Re: Fort of France(Vauban) -> V2

tried something but I have the impression this will be way to large.
red lines are one-way lines for the attacking camps
Blue lines are one-way lines for the defending fort
stables are outside the lines and one inside the fort. they revert to a 3 neutral every round.
bonuses can be collected by recapturing the camp or a part of the fort (brown areas).

That is far too dark to see clearly, my friend.

It's still far too dark. Try using thicker lines.

Victor, are you looking at the same image? WTF are you talking about.

Re: Fort of France(Vauban) -> V2
well size will never fit
as a base of work
you have to use the small map maximum size
horizontal 630 pixels and vertical 600 !!!
and also with " 333 " armies symbols
horizontal 24 pixels and vertical 12 pixels
so you will need to simplify
first rotate the camps 45°
so they attack the corner bastions
and the gates attack the first attack circle
then inside
one army in each 4 bastions
one on each 4 gates
only 4 stables
and a central place
in the protected path just outside the main wall
put the armies in the middle not at the angle
and maybe only one every two sides
each 4 counter-attack line
as I said one army in the gate
one in the protected path (outside gate)
only one in the field
and then the one in the attack line
each 4 camp only 3 armies (infantry, cavalry, guns)
maybe a fourth for the commander
only 2 exit points
the zig-zag attack line
reduce it to 3 sides
but add a bombarding position in prolongation of the first side
as Vauban made
so you will end with something like 77 "territories"
which is already a big map
if you managed to fit it in the size standard
good luck

Yes, I am. I can barely read it! It hurts my eyes just to try! I can't even distinguish the different colors...

Well, I can try and put a lot of work in it, but to be honest, I worked pretty long on this one (yes, it's still a draft, not a graphically nice map) but I didn't find a way to put it in the right format. I don't think it's possible and I think we first need to think about that before working on the places of the armies and the numbers of territs.
So, long story short. It's to big. How to get it smaller? (don't say: make your lines shorter and the dots larger. Don't work, I tried).
cheers.
Re: Fort of France(Vauban) -> V3
It a beautiful set fortress but I feel that the the 2 early pentatonic maps and the original hexagonal map with there rotational symmetries were to me more aesthetically pleasing.

places of the armies and their size
as the number of territories
IS about map size
if you work directly on the right map size
small map is 630 pixels with and 600 height
and with armies symbols
you can't make a too big design

I know, but I mean I think it's not possible to squeeze it all in the right size, I speak about visibility of all the army circles.

Update the first post please, I'd prefer an image rather than a link. Nice to see you're keeping track of the comments though, that helps!
And also... keep within the size restrictions.
