WikiLeaks: US-UK, the One-Way Friendship

Post by saxitoxin »

A new series of leaked cables reveal both UK Labour and Conservative leaders exhausted the White House by competing against each other for how much loyalty they could demonstrate to the U.S. while White House staff "treated Britain’s ‘paranoid’ obsession with maintaining the special relationship with near contempt." The UK's "obsession" with the US was described as "humorous if it weren't so corrosive."

British politicians made various pre-election offers to increase arms purchases from the United States, bizarrely told American diplomats that their families preferred to holiday in the States, and even made assurances to put-in-place a "pro-American UK regime" [sic]. The White House was, apparently, turned-off by the stomach-churning demonstrations of fealty from Labour and Tory leaders.

Obama, at one point, became so irritated by Gordon Brown's repeated requests for a face-to-face meeting, all of which were declined, that White House staff decided to give Brown the opportunity to be photographed kissing Mitch Obama to quiet him down. (This is similar to ancient Rome when the Emperor would offer some of his brothel to minor tributary princes as a sign of goodwill.)

How pathetic. :P

Saxi's FAV comment from the Mail article:

Don't blame the yanks if 'we' keep asking to be "used'!

I stutter in sheer amazement that people keep pounding ol' Saxi for having the audacity to criticize the Nominal American Toy for Obama (AKA "NATO"). :|

so if the uk is subservient to the us, and canada is subservient to the uk, what does that make canada in relationship to the us?

Technically Canada is subservient to the Queen and not the Government of the UK. Think of it as the Queen having two jobs, Queen of the UK and Queen of Canada. Most of the time the Queen gets her secretary to do the Canadian job though. She doesn't even pick who the secretary is the Canadian prime minister does.

Either way there is a much stronger case for Canadian subservience to the USA than the UK in terms of what we actually do. I find neither case particularly convincing, I'm sure Saxi will disagree.

Less mellow Saxi would have some choice words about NORAD, however, in a spirit of Pan-Americanism the new Kinder & Gentler Sax will just note he got Adrienne Clarkson's autobio on audiobook from Amazon last week. I'm not to the juicy parts where she dishes on the Queen's table manners yet, but I'm enjoying the rest of it so far! Love that lady and her husband bunches.

While john9blue and Baron are two of my FAV commenters, I'm going to take Baron's side on this one. :P

I have to say I'm surprised you typically revel in degenerating Canada. (not that there is anything wrong with that. everyone can stand with a little degenerating every once in while, you know to keep them in check). Thanks for the support Uncle Sax!

Hey. Have you read John Ralston Saul's "Voltaire's Bastards: the Dictatorship of Reason in the West"? That's the only book of his I've read but it entreated me to him and Adrienne Clarkson forever. So subversive for a vice-regal consort. I think, after ERII dies, Canada should name Saul the new King instead of Charles. What do you think about that?

English political cunts making the rest of us look like fucking monkeys.

Anyone with half a brain cell and who has had a chance to go out with a good looking bird. The number one rule is not to pay them too much attention, not to ring them every day, and every now and then you blow them out.
If you ring them every day and turn up on the minute for dates, they know you are too keen and they give you the heave ho.

No, i haven't, I've looked at his book "a fair country" which is quite critical about Canada's mediocrity as he sees it. It would be interesting to fully naturalize the monarchy, and i think Saul would make an interesting king. I would however prefer to see an elected governor general who's roles were not merely ceremonial.

Today's WikiLeaks reveal senior British civil servants were summoned to Grosvenor Square where they made assurances to the U.S. ambassador that then-PM Brown's claims he wouldn't renew the Trident nuclear programme were lines for domestic consumption to appease Labour voters and everything would proceed according to U.S. orders. (Nothing in the cables as to whether they left behind tributes of frankincense and silver or kissed the ambassador's signet ring, however.)

Five years ago The Independent revealed that the UK does not have the technical ability to launch its nuclear weapons without prior U.S. authorization.

Most of teh one sided embarrassment ehre is just on the political front. On the real areas of cooperation, like intelligence, military and business there is a much more two way relationship. I do agree that the politicians makes asses of themselves by the amount that they like to butt kiss the USA, even if they are not listening. We have more important allies politically nowadays, Obama is more focused on the Asia-Pacific area then the Trans-Atlantic alliance.

It sure doesn't read that way.

I don't know if Vidukn Quisling himself ever told Hitler he was going to put in a "pro-German regime in Norway."

I think (until more cables are released - maybe I'm wrong) that France can at least fire their own nuclear weapons without a permission slip from the American viceroy.

Trident is a waste of money imo anyway, I don't agree that we should have nuclear weapons at all, what exactly do they provide us with that we don't have already? Btw, saying we have more important allies is not an imperial thing, just a shifting of our focus to Europe rather then the USA or the entire world.

I agree Trident is a waste of money. But, as WikiLeaks demonstrated, it's a garbage pail Downing Street will keep shoveling cash into as long as Grosvenor Square keeps issuing orders to do so.

As for shifting focus to Europe, the UK sure has. Nigel Farage keeps complaining the US is pushing the UK to integrate more into the EU. If the trend of these WikiLeaks cables is correct these haven't been suggestions from Washington, rather, marching orders that have been obeyed to the T.

As Václav Klaus noted a year ago, the US' weird interest in more integration in Europe is coming across like a shepherd herding all his sheep into a single pen. I think WikiLeaks is showing Klaus was correct. I hope Britain wakes-up before shearing season. More true now that the RN is dwindling down to less than 20 surface ships, all - apparently - under the control of SACEUR. When the leadership of both the governing and opposition parties in a country are dutifully reporting to a foreign ambassador pledging to enforce a "Pro-US Regime", said country no longer meets any objective definition of an independent nation-state. It's a client, plain and simple. Britons should take back their country and choose not to be slaves to foreign potentates. The UK is bankrupt. It can't afford tribute payments to Washington (AKA Trident).

Australia Latest Nation to be Revealed as Puppet State

Post by saxitoxin »

Australian Minister for Housing Mark Arbib, a senior Labour politician, is revealed as a U.S. informant in the latest WikiLeaks cables.

Arbib's responsibility was to periodically provide reports to the U.S. ambassador on the inner discussions of the Australian government and to execute the ambassador's orders with regards to Australia. In June he coordinated the ouster of Prime Minister Rudd after the latter failed to execute Obama's directives. The new PM, Julie Gillard, has dutifully joined Obama's calls of the WL cables as "illegal" and "irresponsible" and stated her government will cooperate with Obama's efforts to capture and execute Australian Assange. Further cables are supposed to show every level of the Australian government as penetrated by U.S. puppetmasters including multiple cabinet-level officers like Arbib, possibly including even the Prime Minister and Governor-General, as well as the entire Australian military, police and intelligence establishments.

Among comments from Sunday Times readers ...
Gee whiz, we can charge soldiers with murder after being shot at and yet no one is prepared to charge these goons for being spies!

Can Arbib be charged with espionage?

Arbib is a traitor and should go to jail for a very long time. He is too stupid to realise that the US Government will shaft him too when he is no longer useful.

Why hasn't the Attorney General had this TRAITOR Arrested?

Cant mention on your other stuff as I don't know about it, but the bolded part is false. He was ousted by his cabinet and his party for his unpopulatiry followed several u-turns and/or dithering on climate change and mining policies.

I suppose one can choose to believe or disbelieve the authenticity of the leaks as one sees fit. They may make some people uncomfortable to have their view of the international order challenged with a new revelation of reality. Those people may be among those who choose to disbelieve them and continue in their role as dutiful drones participating in pretend elections as their leaders slavishly galumph to the local American viceroy for orders and treats.
