Nothing better than spending your weekends on a nice quiet, sunny beach. Bag of green and lots of cornish cider.

Okay everyone, I will be sending out a new message to all clan leaders asking for another round of votes very soon. Hopefully we will have an updated power rankings in 2-3 weeks.

I strongly encourage participation from all clans and I hope all clan leaders will either put in the time to come up with a true list of their thoughts on the rankings or ask for help within their clan compiling a list to the best of their ability.

Should we not wait till at least batch 1 gets started in the finals? Either way gonna be fun.

yes because the starting of games makes a difference in how we perceive clans...if you want to wait till batch one is over, that could actually do something but games starting will change nothing

Yeah finishing the first batch would be slightly relevant, but not that much. It's only the first batch.. But obviously you guys want to wait for some of the THOTA results.

A sample of 20 games counts for nothing, whether started or finished. In our latest challenge we were down 8-12 after Batch 1 yet we are still on course to win an overall majority. We simply chose to save our strongest maps for the final batch.

Begs the question "Which is the stronger clan? The one who actually won more games or the one who won games by default?"

Submission of the power rankings may be better put on ice until the conclusion of the group rounds of the Clan League (which won't be long now) because there is a much better sample of all the competitive clans in that tourney rather than a two horse race in another final.

Considering these are "Power Rankings" and not "Standings", it's a very easy decision given those two options.

no, because chuuuuck said every 6 months, last one was early june, so this one would be early december, next one will be June 2011, it is every 6 months. chuuuuck should of massive pm'd everyone a couple weeks ago so the results could be in now or couple days.

Actually, Blitz. YOU said that. And since this is not your thread or your project, Chuuuuck gets to decide.

Here's what he said a few weeks ago (which everyone else agrees with):

Chuuuuck wrote:Ya. I will host votes every 4-6 months as needed. So I am guessing after the finals end is probably a good time for the next vote.

I didnt see that post bones, I only saw the post where we discussed, which was either every 4 or 6 months, now he did one In Jan. but that one was more to accomodate the 1st CUP. so, it was decided every 6 months, JUNE and DEC. sounds right, as it is middle and end of year.
I help use chuuuucks efforts into my thread bones. His work is very helpful and much more respected then jp's ladder.

I wish Chuuuck had answered this already in his most recent post in the Power Rankings thread.

Oh wait. He did.

Chuuuuck wrote:The next vote I run will be sometime around December. I hope to have more participation each time around because more stats = better results.

ok, thx, I know 2 was ran this year, then another in December, so on average once every 4 months. I was thinking once every 6 months, oh well.

It will probably be about every 6 months. The first one this year was only to accommodate the conqueror's cup and really wasn't a ranking because we didn't include all of the clans.

yes, I agree Chuuuuck, every 6 months sounds good to me as well, thanks.

JUNE and DEC. as it is mid and end of year. Makes sense.
I want to vote on the pro bowls for football players, wait though, i need to see how they perform in the playoffs? no one does that, vote on the time frames, the results after that will go unto the next voting period.

Strewth, does it really matter so much? Early December, end December, mid January - what difference does it really make?

Surely it's most logical to conduct this exercise when people have a more-informed opinion of clans' strengths, and the results of all the Clan League group games will afford such an opportunity (24 participating clans, which will surely help anyone trying to compile a list from 1-42 or however many clans there are now). Picking 1-6 has never too difficult, but going beyond that always has been and I'm sure it would mean a lot to those guys in the middle of the pecking order to be ranked in a position as befits their ability rather than some random guesswork.

It's not like you're going to get a medal for being voted #1 or anything, so why the rush?

I general concur with the sentiment that it's probably better to wait until the group phase of the league has wrapped up... tho to be honest I have no idea what the projected date is.

I feel that we are far enough along in the group games of the CLA to get a good idea of how everyone looks. I will send out the PM to start collecting votes soon but I will give a few weeks to allow votes to trickle in meaning even more of the games of the CLA will be updated before we get a lot of the votes. As long as everyone does their best to give their honest votes of how they feel then it should average out pretty well as it has in the past. I hope to have a new Power Rankings up by the beginning of next year or so.

Last week starts around Dec 10, with quads etc and some epic battles, best guess is end of Jan.

This is going to get pushed back for a while. Chuck had a personal tragedy and won't be around for a while. I will take over for him here until his return, and given my schedule, I think mid-December is about the time I would have to send something out to everyone, allowing for a few weeks to get things in and compiled. I believe he had Incandenza and Chariot of Fire working with him as far as collecting votes and verifying info. Is that correct?
