Why not say 'good luck'?
I'm getting irritated by the growing (?) amount of people who just say nothing while playing a game. How hard is it just to say good luck/gl and gg?
The friend who introduced me to CC said I should always do that en be polite cause that's the standard here. But mayby he got it wrong and it ain't so normal?

I always (at least try to) say good luck and gg. Costs nothing and I think it's a nice touch.
If someone doesn't bother to respond, I don't bother to rate them 5 stars on attitude

Some people play in too many games that start at odd times and you may not necessarily remember or not if you said something in game chat. Sometimes I say it, sometimes I don't. If someone says it to me, I'm more likely to say it, but if people stay quiet and/or I've got no reason to really look down at the game chat I won't or will just forget.

When people have time for many games, they have time to say, hi, gl, or anything else. Imo it´s just a bad habit to say nothing at all. Nobody can tell me that they can play 20 or 50 or 100 games same time, but they have no time to say anything in chat. That´s just lame.
Re: Why not say 'good luck'?
gl. Its two letters, don't tell me you don't have time to type them
Re: Why not say 'good luck'?
Who said not enough time? I said you play in enough and you don't know where you said stuff and where you didn't. Especially with the new chat function of hiding text.

Re: Why not say 'good luck'?
in that case i prefer to say it twice instead of saying nothing.

It's not that I don't have time. It's more that if I wouldn't mean it, then I don't bother!
This doesn't preclude me from making friendlyish non-"gl" type of comments when I feel so inclined.

At least you're honest about it!

Of all the bad habits I have, this one doesn't even rate. Mostly, for me, it's not a lack of time. It's just forgetfulness. Although, if I'm feeling pressed for time, while taking my turns, I will tend not to look at the chat, so I guess it is about time.
Upon further thought, you're ridiculous. "If you have enough time for this thing over here, you will definitely have time for this other thing", is a silly thing to say, and you should take it back, you big meanie.

Re: Why not say 'good luck'?
Most of the time I remember to say something, but I've been completely silent in a few games too---I think because I forgot to say anything towards the initialization of the game, and nothing else was said, so I just remained silent for the game til the end.
In general though, for the most part I don't really think one thing or another if someone says Good Luck or Hello to me or not in any of my games.

It´s ok if you have another opinion about this, but it´s strange that you call my opinion silly and ridiculous. Well, i suggest you foe me and move on, then if you have a problem with me and my opinions.

I don't really want my opponent to have good luck, nor do I think that my saying they should have good luck has any bearing on whether they will.

Because I honestly do not care in the slightest whether I greet you with the most arbitrary of well-wishes.

Why would you recommend such a ridiculously drastic response to a simple difference opinion? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get you all hot and bothered when I pointed out that your opinion was, in fact, really silly, when you think about it.

I bet you also don't really care how most people are when you greet someone with "how are you". I bet the guy at the mcdonalds drive-thru doesn't really care whether I have a nice day or not.

I don't usually greet people with such banalities if I don't care how they are.

I say "Have fun!". I don't want them to have good luck, so I don't say that. But I do want them to have fun. Just not too much fun. Because that means they're kicking my ass. So limited good fun. Yeah, that's the ticket.
I will also say that I do very much prefer discussion during games. It just makes things more enjoyable for me. I also recognize not everyone may feel the same.

Re: Why not say 'good luck'?
You know I read someone's post in a C&A report where they mark one down on attitude for no "gl" at the beginning, a further one down for now gg at the end to get to average and one more off for nothing in the middle to get down to 2/below average with a "silent" comment...A bit arbitrary but I agree and have started using the same methodology (exceptions for those with less than 50 games as sometimes they don't even know there IS game chat)...
The whole ratings are pretty rudimentary but this seems a "fair" way to mark "attitude" which is hard to define...
Just and opinion and if you don't share it then "gl with THAT!"...LOL
