Rules are rules and I take my hat off to Chuck, for sticking by them.

Looks like mum's the word from the KoRT camp. I am interested to see how this unfolds...

The responses in here from elfish_lad, nikola miliKi and incandenza are right on the mark. Anyone can make a mistake, Everyone here knows si is a honourable player who would never deliberately enter too many games and at the end of the day this is is a browser game for fun.
Do we really expect zero tolerance of the people who put so much time and effort into this site? Do we know whether they are busy with real life and not counting game stats all day?
Kort. Entirely up to you to choose the honourable way forwards, but whatever decision you come to, let it be known that we are proud of the way our leader has owned up to this oversight, we will stand by this clan and there will be no blame at CoF's door whether we are hit for no games, one game, or twenty-one.
cheers,
sonic

Agreed...I think deducting 1 win from TOFU and moving on is what everyone wants to see...hopefully this will be the outcome
I think the important thing here from a clan leader perspective is that we not blame chuuuuck for enforcing a rule that was clearly spelled out. Also, we should not be blaming KoRT for accepting the victory based on the rules. It is not cowardly, it is not asinine, it was a rule.
not blaming chuuuck for anything, and kort's a different story.. rules can be changed/bent if needed and no matter how u put it cheme, we all know what it is, taking a win like that..
not like kort doesnt have a choice here.. I guess they are still debating on what to do.. something tells me they wont disappoint us all..
come on kort, no guts no glory!

This thread has got more drama than a dramatically dramatic drama dramatised by an overdramatic dramatist.

Also, we should not be blaming KoRT for accepting the victory based on the rules. It is not cowardly, it is not asinine, it was a rule. I think in the next CCup the rule should be tweaked to follow the Clan League rule, but at this point, we can't go willy-nilly about changing a rule or blaming people for winning under those rules.
I just think that in some sense this whole things just leaves most people with a sour taste in their mouth. Whatever the ails from the earlier batches, this coming seemingly as a response on korts side from Tofu's inhumour at the josko script joke, to Chuck (no offense, I know we all understand rl) having to come in, after not really being intimately involved in the CC cup organisation after the first round, to enforce a rule that seems harsh in hindsight.
As Sonic says, to adopt a no-tolerance policy in a competition that isn't exactly the olympics, and involves no prizes I know of other than bragging rights (and which I think was entered into only because of the enthusiasm on clans parts to be involved in such a tournament); in such a scenario, I don't really think having a forfeited result in the semi's really goes with the true spirit of sportsmanship with which I think this competition started under(Never mind that the playing more than the 20 games rule was implemented because of such considerations).
(Also, cheme, if you look into the initial rounds, there was no player limit in the first round (out of 20), while in the quarters out of 40 it was 15, so we can see that it's obviously decreasing per round, to test depth I presumed)
At the end of the day, this obviously now lies in Korts hands, who knows, they may not even be wanting to follow through with this and it may just be that this is just an ego thing where they're proving that they hold the higher moral ground when continuing, one can hope for tofu's side.

This could be a tactical move by tofu to avoid a direct THOTA-TOFU matchup yet still allow conjecture as to how they would have taken it anyway.

To those that say the rules can be bent. I agree, the rules can be bent if all that are involved in the matter agree for them to be bent. Right now, the only people that are involved in the matter are TOFU and KoRT and in a very small sense, myself (to uphold the integrity of the tournament). I don't see anyway I can direct anyone to bend the rules without their agreement.
My opinion on this whole matter is not important whatsoever. I am not saying I like the way it is going down but I am not saying KoRT is wrong in letting it go down this way. The bottom line is, the rule was violated and if no other agreement is reached then I must default back to the way the rule was written and agreed upon before the tournament ever started.
I do appreciate Si taking responsibility and the high road on this one. When this rule was discussed earlier in the year I would like to point out what Si had to say about the whole thing back then:
He hit the head on the nail right there. It was discussed beforehand to avoid arguing over it now.
Like I said in my original post of this news, I deeply regret the way this has turned out and am very sorry to all involved in the matchup. I will open discussion to this topic before running Conqueror's Cup 2 and will be more than willing to adjust this rule in the future as well as others as the clan community sees fit.

Sorry mate...loads of questions - but it's better to get these things sorted before we start than to argue over them should any such eventuality arise during the competition.

Re: [CC 2010 Semis] TOFU vs KoRT [20-19 of 60]
I'm compelled to express my gratitude to a whole host of people for their overwhelming support - not only every member of TOFU (which is heartwarming to say the least because I'm an absolute ogre if any of them make a mistake, for which I'm openly critical) but also third parties and even members of KORT via PM - really gratefully received, thank you.
A couple of things just to set the record straight:
- it is ironic how it was me, back in the formative days of this tourney, who requested clarification of the rule on exceeding player quota. I honestly have to say I wasn't aware of what the penalty that was decided was though - this can be the problem with edited posts, as an edit isn't highlighted - and I probably would have commented that 'total forfeiture of all games' seemed rather excessive. Others would seem to agree. That said, regardless of what the rule is it wouldn't have changed the oversight I made. It was simply an honest mistake, not trying to gain any advantage.
- before anyone puts any more words in the mouths of KORT it should be noted that no one in their clan has stated his or her intent to uphold the rule (which is within their right), thus any aspersions that they are doing so are ill-founded and premature. It must be sorely tempting to put me in my place, especially given some of the slings and arrows that have been cast over the course of this challenge, yet ultimately this is a gaming web site whose principles are of fair play in a competitive environment.
I for one know that the sense of community can be strengthened, repaired even, and that a moral victory can be won simply on the basis of a decision, whilst I sit in my corner eating some humble pie.

Well said CoF.
Indeed it's a very hard penalty in this rule giving in a normal situation 10 games away to the opponent. That's like even worse then giving a red card in a soccer game for a simple foul, or don't count a clear goal.
It's like the death penalty for stealin' cigars. Glad I don't smoke!

Pretty shocking news. It is a shame if the challenge ends this way but it was our fault.
Wouldn't trade Chariot of Fire for anyone else on the site, mistake or not.
I think I know what I'll be getting him for Christmas, though, cough, calculator, cough.

True JP. It's like that part in Charlie St. Cloud where Charlie St. Cloud's calculator falls in the water during a sailing race and then Charlie St. Cloud accidentally raced in one extra match than was allowed, thus Charlie St. Cloud was eliminated from every race and it was up to Charlie St. Cloud's nemesis Chuck Sky to decide Charlie St. Cloud's fight.

We didn't even tell you what Chuck Sky did or that Charlie St. Cloud's ghost brother helps Charlie St. Cloud get the inspiration to go find Suzie St. Love Interest and Charlie St. Cloud saves Ms. Love Interest and then buries the ghost brother baseball glove in significant location to Charlie St. Cloud.

on a related note, is it acceptable to punctuate after an emoticon?
the last time i saw a face like that next to a semi-colon it was in blitz's penthouse-cum-dungeon. (he ties you up, then fucks off to play risk)
