Map Making Conduit

i coud not find anything related to this subject and i'm wondering if some offensive images can be used to do a map.

by offensive i mean sexual and/or violent stuff.

any idea?
i think the sexual stuff is not allowed but the violent images can be permited to some extent, blood would not mind but a torn corpse or ripped flesh would be a problem?
i have a new idea but i'd like to know if i'm allowed before i do it.

Not sure really... Common sense I suppose. Whatever you wouldn't want to show to kids around the age of 11/2 probably isnt suitable. Might be an idea to make a rough draft and PM Andy before you post it to check (unless he thinks his little innocent monkey mind may be too shocked by your subject matter).

normally i would not ask this but i see a lot of things on this forum that are really innapropriate for kids (flame and social lounge host some really strange threads) and because i see stuff like this is permited i think some violent images would not hurt anybody, plus there could be a warning like "Warning: graphically violent image" or "Warning: sexual content inside"

anyway i'll pm andy and see what he says.

I definitely don't think sexual content would be appropriate (as far as nudity goes, obviously if it fitted girls in bikinis would probably be ok), but this is a wargame, after all, so I'm sure violence is OK to a degree.

exactly as i was thinking, i'll wait for andy's answer and then i'll try to figure a way to implement my idea.

As long as it's done in good taste it should be alright. If you're just doing it for the sake of adding gore, then I think not. I don't really see the point though, maybe I'll have to wait until you elaborate more on your idea.

actually i was thinking of redoing the bill of rights map.
but this time it would be a tattoo and the skin is ripped to pieces. obviously there would be some blood and flesh and i don't know if that's approved.

PS: or i could just put tits on every map that i make and people will yell QUENCH IT :roll:

I think that's inappropriate and in bad taste. No offence, I just don't see the point. I also don't think it's a very interesting map idea anyway. Figthing over torn flesh with a tattoo doesn't appeal to me.

i don't know if you've noticed but i never proposed a "classic" map with real teritories and coutries. why because that does not appeal to me. i've played risk A LOT on my board game and i'm kinda tired of the same recipe. here on CC i get the chance to bring my ideas to life and maybe fight for something else, like transporting some resources, conquering a brain or a termite hill, or why not, over parts of the bill of rights or a ripped tatoo. that's why i like maps like space, CCU or Circus Maximus.
and i'm really upset when i see more and more map ideas that stick to the classic recipe of taking a real location and puting it on a risk map

but i'm glad when maps like conquer 4 king of the mountains or chinese checkers appear.

I understand where you're coming from and I agree to an extent. While I still enjoy the old Risk formula, I enjoy seeing variants on the gameplay as well... something I tried to achieve with Conqer 4. Perhaps just put some more thoughts into your themes, the transport one is the only idea I've liked so far, but the map is going a different direction to what I would've expected.

I’m not really sure how you would make a map inappropriate. I guess someone could make a map to conquer the parts of a woman’s anatomy or something, but really on maps there isn’t place for inappropriate material. Even if someone would bring it up it would get torn down though the forge process.

I agree that if the material you want to use isn't going to be used in an inapporiate way, then it may be used. But I don't see any sexually explicit making it on to maps...and in regards to violent or other materials, it all depends on the situation and basis.

The best idea: Simply stray away from things that you think may be of bad taste.

yes but bad taste is somthing subjected to many interpretations.
for example i would play a 5 finger fillet map but others wouldn't.

seriously this is what i mean, i don't find that image disturbing and i'm sure others don't but there are people that won't consider playing on such a map.

I think determining what is acceptable and what is not would fall on the Foundry, and in further stages perhaps, Lack and I. As we both surely would not want to put up any 'unacceptable maps'.

Seriously, though, just put up some ideas anyway. They'll get rejected by the foundry soon enough if they're too much.

the problem is i really don't have time to do a map and then posted and get rejected. making a map (not a sketch) takes hours and to spend a few hours on a finger fillet map and then get rejected from the first post seems dumb. i'd rather work on something else. so i want to know if there's a limit, an extent to which i can insert gore and torn flesh and stuff.

so basicaly would something like 5 finger fillet be accepted?

As we've said before, it really depends on how it's presented. Words are beautiful and wonderful, but I'd need to see the image to really grasp if it's acceptable or not.

If you don't want to spend hours making something that might be tossed aside, focus your efforts on something that isn't so on the edge.

You dont have time to do a map who Conquer Club need, and you want to map creators who spend 3-6 month on map to support yours map who you want to finish for 2 days, no chance. Belive or not, but for good and acetable map you must work minimum 2 month, to apply all what other people say, and if you dont time then its better for you to not work in creating a map for CC.

i posted an image for 5 finger fillet on page one. is that acceptable? if it is then i'll know what to do.

you really did not understand what i was saying. i know a map takes time to do. but i have already a few maps going on and i'd rather spend a few more hours improving those than doing something that will get rejected from the first post.
at the moment since i have no more feedback on my maps i thought i'd start something else. that's why i started this thread.

there are plenty of other abstract ideas that you could use. I would not be apposed to say a tatoo map with the tatoos being the nations but if you put in blood and gore just for the heck of it I don't think it would be axepted. but if you did somthing like a battle field map with an image in the backround of someone getting stabed through with a speer it might pass(think anything more than what was in the movie 300 as to much or mabey even somthing like lotr as to much) but horror most likely won't get exepted :wink:

When you put background image of dead soldiers in battle fields, these can be accepted, but when you put bloody parts of body, these will never be acepted.
