That's OK Trephining... he missed my sarcasm too and instead of trying to help me (like you helped him) he preferred to just insult me.

This doesn't make sense to me. Either you were being sarcastic and you didn't need help (i.e. you know what country we were referring to), or you weren't being sarcastic and legitimately didn't understand which country Saxi brought up. You can't mix and match :P

This was the perfect way to end the thread, Jim! After getting poked and teased and batted-around you became unhinged, yelled "Go f*ck Yourself!" 5 times and then started cutting and pasting pages upon pages out of wikipedia in some cases - apparently - not even reading what you were pasting before copying it in.

You're a master of forensic speech, Jim. However, I think it's time for you to participate in a Family Guy or Simpsons thread, now, though. The grown-ups would like to have a chit-chat. Thanks! :P

... and this is the perfect way for you to end a thread. Refuse to actually respond to legitmate questions... when cornered obfuscate the issue with irrelevant facts... point out minor errors of your 'adversaries'... and then pretend you are so much better and smarter than everyone else.

Meanwhile you are full of baloney and your whole fake persona on here is ridiculous. I suppose long-time Bumpagers have accepted the fact that your supposed political positions are complete BS, and it doesn't bother them. They appreciate your witty remarks and general knowledge. I just can't let myself get past the fakeness.

Then you, sir, still have a long way to go in being good at the internet. Don't worry though - it takes most people a long time to be able to ignore this sort of thing.

The DDR received diplomatic recognition by the USA in 1974 (and, in turn, recognized the existence of the USA that year).

Jim, I really feel sorry for you. Honestly, I really do. Wikipedia and the American educational system has really let you down as has been patently obvious in this thread as you stumble through a history of the 20th century, backtracking and reformatting your points to accommodate the new historic gems and anecdotes you keep learning along the way, periodically becoming flustered and just throwing up your hands in the air, screaming "Go f*ck Yourself!" and then cutting-and-pasting 23 pages out of wikipedia.

Really, this is embarrassing for you, Jim. Please save your own face.

# 1 - I never said that the US did not offer diplomatic recognition to the DDR. I said that we never really considered them a country. These are not mutually exclusive. You can know that the DDR isn't a "country" (by the standard definition of the word)... and still realize that the expediant course of action is to offer diplomatic recognition.

# 2 - I think I quoted Wiki four (4) times here. Please make your exaggerations a little more believable.

Mets... please tell me what "being good at the internet" means.
(If you mean being able to ignore the BS and enjoy it for what it is I understand.)
(I have a love / hate relationship with the Internet.)

BTW... I have been online since 1992. Even though I am fairly new here at CC (or in Bumpages). 15 years ago there was a lot less BS online than there is now.

I can ignore most BS... Saxi raises it to a whole new level.

Yeah... all that came after you ignored my first legitimate question.

Good way to blow me off again though... thank you.

BTW... where did I ever write "go f*ck yourself"?

You may want to see if wikipedia has an entry on the declarative theory of state sovereignty so you can familiarize yourself with what the "standard definition" of the word, in fact, is ...

Just a suggestion! :P

There was a lot more BS online in 1992 then there is now, because now we have places like Wikipedia where we can easily fact-check the morons. In the old days of Usenet and the like, there were way too many incredibly strange posts and theories.

It is easier to fact-check now yes.

The percentage of people throwing around BS for BS's sake was a lot lower.

Sure there was BSer's and frauds... but not the frivolous BS that is Saxi's normaly trade.

Well, that's true. I think there's one image board in particular that we can blame for that.

You may want to see if wikipedia has other definitions for the acronym GFY than what you automatically assume I mean.

Just a suggestion :P

Well, I did search Wikipedia for "GFY," and came up with no results.

Saxi, could you list some characteristics of the DDR (along with a concrete example or two for each) that you think a person should know if they wanted to learn about it?

That question is impossibly broad. Instead, perhaps you could pose a question or two - or succinctly itemize something you heard from the slavish western media - about the DDR (or any revolutionary worker's state) and I'll be happy to address it.

(Jim's style of interaction - screamed epithets interspersed with voluminous copy-and-paste jobs of wikipedia articles and threats to quit the board and never come back - doesn't lend itself to a real discussion by intelligent people.)

GFY on posting another stupid comment.

# 1 - Please find screamed epithets.

# 2 - Please define voluminous... is four (4) copy-and-past jobs volumimous?

# 3 - No threat to quit... I am just waiting to finish up my games then I am gone.

# 4 - GFY again... you are a very perceptive induhvidual Saxi, I will give you that. You know just what to say to get under my skin. You have succeeded again... you're getting a stiffy again aren't you?

Oh, I missed it because I did in fact know what it stood for (thus why my original post was rude), so I assumed you were making a sarcastic joke. My apologies.

No need to apologize.

I was both making a joke AND typing what else GFY can stand for...

of course that's all I would ever intend to imply GFY might mean, as I abhore vulgarity.

(that is sarcasm)

Apparently the only person who defends communism around here is Saxi, so I don't think that argument is going very far.

I think it's a great idea that is completely impractical and won't ever work because it goes against human nature. I think that every time it has been tried in the real world it has failed because it fails to take selfish behavior into account.

People are selfish. Some more some less. Communism only works if NO ONE is selfish.

Let's pretend we argee it would work fine if only 10% of people were selfish. That would still guarantee failure as you will never get 90% of the people in this world to act in a selfless manner.
